Going to respectfully disagree with this fight being the best of 2023. Crawford/Spence. Both Inouye fights. Benevidez/Plant. Those were solid fights. It's a good idea to re-visit close or questionably scored fights. Ex: The two guys and myself who watched the fight all thought Hagler beat Leonard at the time. I watched it again some years ago and gave it to Leonard.

I didn’t mean it was the best fight of 2023 - I meant matchup as in on paper. I guess what I mean is one of the best styles and name clashes of 2023. Also all the hardware involved made it even better. HaneyLoma and SpenceCrawford were one of the best matchups last year but unfortunately SpenceCrawford didn’t live up to the hype. Still was a good fight in my opinion! This year for example on paper I like UsykFury and BeterbievBivol… I think UsykFury will live up to the hype but I don’t think BeterbievBivol will, however, on paper the matchup is perfect! And thanks I’m enjoying the process of rewatching these controversial fights. There’s a few fights where on first watch I swore it was the biggest robbery at the time but when I rewatched it I came out with a different opinion. And really?! I watched HaglerLeonard once too and had Hagler winning… I’ll make sure to make an episode on that in the future 👍 Do you have any fights in mind that I should revisit?

It was no robbery Loma didn't even have any success until late in the fight you don't win fights like that

I thought the same when I watched it live. But after watching it with the intent to score it properly and carefully I was so surprised by how LITTLE success Haney had in the first half of the fight. It really helps to have instant replay because during live watches a lot of Haney’s punches looked as if they landed when they didn’t. It’s crazy because even in the break leading to the 5th or 6th (I forget) you can see the lack of confidence in Haney’s face. Surely If he was winning big like we thought he would look a little more confident… Idk if you care to rewatch the fight but if you do I implore you to go into without holding any bias for either fighter and really zone in on if the punches landed of not. Rewatching this 36 minute fight took me 90 minutes because of the times I paused and rewinded (and took notes) and that’s how I got to my conclusion 🫡

You will struggle to show me 5 rounds let alone 7 rounds of Haney outpointing Loma. Haney landed more elbows than anything. Many of his shots were blocked. The so called body work in actual fact he only landed 15 measly body shots. Haney had no eye catching shots to the head, none! Loma landed a SELECTION of shots body and head. Loma absolutely obliterated and schooled Haney battered him from pillar to post. Loma dog walked Haney had him on a leash and mauled him. Also let's not forget Haney was well over 155lbs on fight night as he had 36 hours to rehydrATE AND HE STILL GOT COOKED! LOL

Nah, Lomo's land percentage was terrible. He only landed 24 more punchs throughout the fight and those were in the last 2 Rds. He lost the early rounds. That's why I think they should change the score system. Knock downs should trump all points unless they are matched or at least scored as a 5 point Rd. It's written all over his face.

The compubox is a ridiculously flawed system. I did not take the “punch stats” into account at all. I simply just watched the fight and used the replay button when needed. Again, it took me around 90 minutes (because of pausing, rewinding and note taking) to finish watching this 36 minute fight. From my vantage point Loma won most of the early rounds and Haney won most of his rounds in the 2nd half. Which was surprising to me because when I watched it live I saw the opposite. But yes, I agree that the scoring system should change. How about utilize all 10 points instead of giving most rounds a 10-9 score. Why cant we see more 10-8 rounds even WITHOUT a knockdown. Even 10-7 rounds if the round was THAT dominant.

That would be a brilliant fight! I think Matias is too big for Loma though. Loma is already pushing his limits at 135 - he’s probably the smallest elite fighter there and he has no plans going up because he knows his limits. Matias on the other hand is a career junior welterweight. I think he’s too big for Loma unless they fight at a catch weight or if Matias goes down to 135 which I don’t think he’d ever do. Not even for Tank (one of the cash cows in boxing)

Because there were 4 close/swing rounds these are my acceptable scorecards: 118-109 (Round 11 being a 10-8 Round) in favour of Lomachenko. 118-110 in favour of Lomachenko. 117-111 in favour of Lomachenko. 116-112 in favour of Lomachenko. 115-113 in favour of Lomachenko. Or 114-114 draw!

a few points 1. A close fight is not the same a robbery. 2. 116-112 is, 8:4 which is only 2 swing rounds away from 114:114.... so Haney got the benefit of 2 swing rounds. 3. Lomachenko was the challenger on the champion, I always believe that a challenger must "take the title" from the champion. 4. This was Lomachenko THIRD LOSS,so he is very very beatable, deal with it. 5. Even if it was a draw, Haney kept the belt. 6. You Lomachenko fans are have tried to re-write history ... so you clearly have an agenda that is broader than boxing... you're pushing a culture war... 🙄🙄... I can't support that...

1. A close fight can most definitely be a robbery especially when there are heavily skewed scorecards in favour of the beneficiary. Case in point: Adalaide Byrd’s RIDICULOUS 118-110 scorecard in favour of Canelo in CaneloGGG1. 2. I’m aware 116-112 is only 2 swing rounds away from 114-114. There were 4 close rounds (1, 2, 7, and 9) in my opinion and I gave Haney 3 of those and he still only won 5. At best Haney scores a draw - and that’s if he wins ALL 4 CLOSE ROUNDS. 3. That whole notion is bogus and does not make sense. A champion does not (or at least SHOULD NOT) start the fight with extra points in the scorecard. If you beat the champion then you beat the champion. End of. 4. Nobody was claiming Lomachenko is unbeatable. 5. Yes, we know this. Not the point of the video… 6. Pushing a culture war? A video breaking down a boxing match is pushing a culture war. You’re sensitive. Don’t need or want your support but thanks for the view and engagement 🤝
