Good old Gardner engines!!!
@MetroTitanD783 жыл бұрын
Both the Titans and Metrobuses had the same engines would you believe although I think there may have been some small differences. The different gear boxes would be one reason why they sound different.

Not quite deregulation in London, route tendering wasn't much better, certainly from the staff's point of view but at least the network was under central control.....

Such memories, fantastic. I must have driven a number of those Titans from NS, including 1 and 2. Amazing to see the multi-coloured buses on the Ensign/First routes, plus the "Town & Country" buses, run by a former Harris Coaches manager. Great video, keep 'em coming!

I'm pleased you enjoyed it, and i do have more to upload in the future..... As an aside i too have driven T1 & T2. We had T2 at Blue Triangle and we borrowed T1 for Emergency Rail work in 2005......

T34 going around showing the school route I think was actually working a staff shuttle for drivers changing at the station, they used to have a bus parked at the stops for that purpose years ago and I very much doubt they do that these days.

I’ve noticed some of the MCW deckers that feature in this video maybe former Greater Manchester Transport/Greater Manchester Buses South/Stagecoach Manchester which I’ve seen in photos on Flickr that some have made their way down to the Big Smoke in the late 90’s.

Radio Rentals (0:45); how quaint does that sound now. It must have been quite anachronistic then. When did they cease trading?
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus3 жыл бұрын
I used to use Radio Rental's, they moved into renting TV's and video recorders. I last used them at the end of 1995 and they were still going then......

1:28 Ensign Metrobus with missing rear windows? How odd!
@MetroTitanD783 жыл бұрын
During the 90s and early 2000s no less than 4 companies ran LT Metrobuses in the town the first being Countybus using hired Leaside buses on the 370/3, then Ensignbus/Town&Country had one on the 324/348 then both First Capital and Blue Triangle would operate a few examples. The 3 Town & Country Metrobuses shown in order were a GMPTE example,a standard London one and a WMPTE.

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus no problem mate, Romford was a really exciting place back then and assuming that you caught other buses during your visit then you'll know what I mean.
@highpath47763 жыл бұрын
@@MetroTitanD78 I wish I had got over to Romford more when the Eastern National (NBC) Buses ran into it from Grays(or was that LCBS?) and Brentwood - actually always an odd place for having connections I think up to Harlow and out to Chelmsford by bus services. It was also quite a compartively difficult distance to get through to from Ilford or Barking (at least it was if you had started your Red Bus rover trip from SW London via Elephant and Castle / Aldgate / Canning Town and East Ham - knackered by Barking as it was so Romford was beaten perhaps only by trying to get to the windswept world of Bexleyheath !.

Some parts of Romford have remain unchanged, whilst other areas look unrecognisable.

Somewhere I have a photo showing an RCL on a Green Line Route going through / near the marketplace - must be pre ring road days. I think Romford is my most hated place - dreary in the rain. Only beaten by Kingston for the ease of getting around (not) from one side to the other - by foot or vehicle.
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus3 жыл бұрын
Yes i know what you mean about Romford these days although part of the ring road was open when i first visited as a child in the early 1970s. The market place by then was already pedestrian only rather than a through road. But still had it's old world charm unlike today.....
