Fantastic ride so far - so well planned and dealing well with the inevitable adversity. Chapeau!

Thank you. A few things I would change in hindsight, although all kit related and not bike related.

Thanks Matt very interesting video. Congratulations on you win and having just learnt that you suffer from Epilepsy that makes it even more remarkable. I know because I suffered from it as a kid but luckily grew out of it.

Dude, this is my dream bike and I always wondered if it was durable for long rides. Thank you for the in depth insight.

I have had the bike since 2018 and in those years it has clocked up high mileage and lots of similar challenges.

@@MattPage amazing. Would u recommend it for bikepacking or bike touring? I figured it'd be impractical but I love the geometry. Looks so cool

@@yuh9833 I have used it for bikepacking trips, but you won't carry much.

Nice set up, I took a different approach, Fairlight Secan, 35mm tyres, bivi, no drop bags. I took a bit longer than you... I couldn't have done it with your bottom gear!
@MattPage
@MattPage 2 жыл бұрын
That is quite different, how did you get on? It was borderline for the steep twin peak climb in the Pennines, but luckily I was feeling strong at that point so managed to get up OK.

@@MattPage really enjoyed it, my only regret was sleeping in the halls whey it was busy, outside would have been way quieter, I started almost at the back so it was busy at controls going North. Started 14:30, finished 05:30 Friday. Doing TPR in Oct so wanted to test my kit for that.
@MattPage
@MattPage 2 жыл бұрын
@@hectorkidds9840 I can imagine they were busy. On my return, I could see Brampton was rammed, and even as I got to Hessle there were still people there. Good luck at the TPR.

Any chance you can do a video review of the Scribe wheels? I've got a pair on pre-order so keen to know what you think.

Hi Matt, I was wondering what setting you found with the exposure light that was acceptable for the night riding on the road (presuming you occasionally flicked it up for fast bits)?
@MattPage
@MattPage Жыл бұрын
From memory, the 4/12 setting was more than enough. I had issues with recharging, as I thought I could recharge on the go with a battery pack, but you can't. For the final few hours I had to use the 36hr setting, and this was not enough on unlit, twisty roads, especially when very tired. My fault and a lesson learned. I now have a triple-cell battery to use for PBP.

There were some savage climbs on the route, did you mange to cope with 36/30 ?
@MattPage
@MattPage 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it worked well. Luckily I was feeling strong going over the twin peaks over the Pennies coming back.

Suprised you took this over your Strael.
@MattPage
@MattPage 2 жыл бұрын
The Strael is more of an adventure machine. Comfortable, plenty of mounts but for a dry few days in August speed was more a priority.

Late congratulations on your ride. I would've bailed. At least twice. (Irrelevant note, it's pronounced "bull-tongue" :))

How did you crack the Cannondale wheels?
@MattPage

No idea - I just noticed a crack one day. It wasn't after any particular hit, and they had never been crashed.

There was an option to plan your own route through Edinburgh, which may be why he's 25km short.
