FOR ANYONE WATCHING THIS VIDEO FROM AUGUST 2022 ONWARDS: This video is outdated. The G2 test is now shorter. I took the test last week and passed. My #1 Tip is to BOOK AN EARLY-IN-THE-DAY TEST! Try to get a test time between 7AM and 730AM. There is much less traffic on the road these times. My #2 Tip is to exaggerate head movements when checking mirrors every 6-10 seconds. Also, exaggerate your head movements when doing a blind spot check. My #3 Tip is to remember the lane change formula: MSB (Mirrors Check, Signal, Blind Spot Check, then make lane change). Here is the current route: - Have your vehicle backed into the parking spot at the Drivetest center. - From your numbered parking spot at the Drivetest center, exit onto Wellington. You will need to use your signals 4 times to do this. Your first signal will be a left signal (out of the parking spot). Your next signal will be a right signal out of the parking area towards the exit. Your 3rd signal will be a left signal, onto the straight exit leading towards Wellington (remember you don't have a stop sign, but the vehicles to the left and the right of you do, so, you have the right of way). Your 4th signal will be a right turn onto Wellington. - Once on Wellington, you will be asked to turn left onto Exeter Rd. I suggest, like the guy in the video did, to NOT go into the far left lane, but instead, the second left lane. This way, you are in the right lane when you turn left onto Exeter Rd. - From Exeter Rd., you will be asked to turn right onto Shotto Drive. - On Shotto Drive, you will be asked to turn right onto Jalna Blvd. - On Jalna Blvd, you will be asked to turn right onto Piers Crescent (at the first entry to Piers Crescent, since it meets Jalna Blvd at two points). ***NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE TAKING YOUR TEST BETWEEN 7AM-730AM (IN AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER 2022), THE SUN WILL BE HITTING YOUR EYES WHEN YOU MAKE THIS TURN. MAKE SURE TO PULL DOWN YOUR MIRROR ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL SO YOU CAN SEE*** - Piers Crescent is where you will be asked to do 2/3 of the following: Parallel Parking; 3-Point Turn; Uphill/Downhill Parking (with or without a curb). For example, in my test, I was asked to do Parallel Parking and Uphill Parking (with a curb), but NOT the 3-point turn. The guy who did his test immediately after me (I was still in the Drivetest office waiting for them to issue my G2 when he finished) has to do a 3-point turn, and an uphill park, but NO parallel parking. - From there it is back to the test center (left turn onto Jalna, left turn onto Exeter, right turn onto Wellington, and then a left lane change before turning left back into the Drivetest center). - I was asked, when back at the Drivetest center, to back into Spot #3. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I did my test yesterday and passed the first attempt! This video was a great help. A comment on the route I took vs what is in this video because it has changed to a short version. This video has a much longer and perhaps old route they do not use now. But the first part of the route in this video is exactly where they take you, or very close to it. I heard there are also up to three routes they could take you. Let's call this one here the most common route, and this is according to my Drivers Ed instructor I used. My route on Feb 2023 London ON: from behind the driving center in one of the numbered spots, you leave the test center via the cluster of stop signs to your left (series of small turns left and right), and then you turn right onto Wellington Rd. BOTH LANES CLEAR for a right turn, not one. You then pass the light and are driving over the overpass for this part of the test. (IMO this is the hardest part of the test because you need to make a lane change to the left on the wellington overpass to get to the left turning lanes for Exter Rd.)(Depending on the time of day you will need to be a little aggressive with this lane change, but DO NOT lane change in the intersection on this overpass & and check your left blind spot for this lane change because there is a very high chance a car will be in it on this overpass.) Next, you turn left onto Exter Road (100% take the 2nd left turning lane on wellington!). From there you drive on Exter until you get to Shloto, and make a right turn onto it. Next, I drove towards Jalnah BLVD still on Sholto, I was asked to turn right onto Jalanh and then quickly asked to turn right on Piers. On Piers, there was a parked car on the right side of the road so I was asked to Paraelle park, and then proceeded to drive down Piers, and turn right onto Stroud Cres. On Stroud was asked to do a three-point turn and go back toward Pieres and turn right onto it. On Piers was asked to pull over at a lamppost and park uphill. Then asked to proceed down Piers to a random yield sign (yes, a yield sign)...and turned left at it. Finally, drove down Piers to Jalnah, and turned left onto it. Now it is back to the drive test center, they do not say this but, you are clearly retracing your route, and the MTO tester directs you when needed. Remember, when you turn left at a light, it is your job to change lanes to the right lane when it is safe (this is what you will encounter when turning left onto Exeter road). Next, it is down Exeter to Wellington. The next part to watch out for is the right turn from Exeter to Wellington, while an easy turn to make, you will have to change lanes to the left in a short window! My Tester said, please make two lane changes to the left when you feel it is safe. He might have said this because I lucked out and had a free path to do so. Sometimes you get a good one! You are going straight down wellington the same way you just came via the overapss, but you are now turning left into the test center past the Mcdonalds. Again, don't blow away your test by making a risky left turn here. It is a long wide open road into the test center, you can easily see a safe turning window. Then I was asked to forward park in any of the open numbered spots. The very area you started. Was asked to put the car in park and turned off the car. He said, "Today you have observed driving according to regulations, congratulations. Directed me to go inside and they will upgrade my licenses. Barely had time to thank him before he closed the passenger door in my face. LOL! On my test I had one random thing happen, in this case, the tester told me what to do (not sure if they are required to help this way). A large crane-truck had its ass sticking out from the left turning lane into the center lane of wellington RD, the lights right before the test center. We needed to drive through this intersection, and the tester told me to speed up a bit and maneuver around the crane-truck's ass, he even checked the left blind spot for me before telling me to do this move. I had a ton of cars behind as well. Hopefully, this helps you all!

Just stopping by to say thank you for this video. There is no way I would have passed my G2 without it. Long story short, a couple months before my test I lost access to any vehicle so I had no way to practice. I probably watched this video 100 times, over and over again until it was seared in my memory. And even though the test route is slightly different, your video gave me the confidence I needed to pass with flying colors! I can honestly say I wouldnt have passed without it. Cheers!

Update: Passed G2 test on March 29th, first attempt, despite really bad weather and nerves. The route was shorter (as some recent comments talk about), but main roads were the same. The tester advised me to improve on over-checking during the turns (said I was not looking for ants, but big cars 🤣), but ultimately passed me for my G2. Thankfully I took the driver-ed for defensive driving from Fanshawe Driving School, and watched this video multiple times (muted and just did virtual drives). I knew I gotta drive on the right, change lanes with SMB, watch intersections and drive slower (or as per traffic) in bad weather. I performed well on: - Lane changes, blind spots, checking intersections, parking, stopping maneuvers, driving on the right driving lane and talking through what I was gonna do. - Informed the tester that I plan to drive a bit slower for safety, since weather was extremely bad. - Wearing a baseball cap that helped exaggerate head movements, so will advise getting one (and practicing while wearing one so you are used to it). Mistakes included: - Going into the shoulder when leaving the drive test area (since I couldn't see dividers in the crazy rain), - Over checking and slower turns, - Misunderstanding what the tester asked once. Thank you very much for this video!
