There was a Greenwich in western Massachusetts. Commonwealth of Massachusetts took the entire town and two other towns by eminent domain and flooded it to make the Quabbin Reservoir that provides all the drinking water to the greater Boston area. Some of those towns structures still exist at the bottom of the reservoir.

Very good video. I was in London for the day with my in-laws , bad idea. Do to their habit of always being LATE , was not able to go into the Observatory as it closed for the day. What a personal disaster. To be so close and not see inside the only place on earth I really wanted to see. Got to see a bronze statue that had nothing to do with time and navigation ! Moral : If you go , get there early and just dump your in-laws , an apology will fix things. Life is for living not crying over spilled milk ! Good luck with the contributions .

Not by me. I visit London almost every year and the only place I ALWAYS visit is Greenwich. On a hot day in July (record temperature last I was there), after the climb to the observatory to see the view, a visit to the planetarium is bliss. Cool atmospheric temperature and total darkness, comfortable, reclined seats, an amusing astronomer explaining interesting stuff, and you wish you could stay there forever.

Hi Joolz. I discovered your terribly amusing video channel a few days ago and have since expended many precious hours following your jaunts around London. I love London and spent much of my formative life there and have lived in various parts of the capital city including Fitzrovia (Charlotte St), Walthamstow, Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, and Chingford. Loved the one you did on Rotherhithe BUT, you stopped at the Mayflower! Not even halfway around Londons longest street. This area is so rich in history I am formerly requesting you do a part 2 going all the way round to Greenland Docks and Surrey Quays. Pip pip tally ho.

A slight correction. Greenwich's royal links actually started in Eltham, with Eltham Palace. In 1305 Anthony Bek, Bishop of Durham , gave the future King Edward II the manor and the estate where the palace now stands. Many kings subsequently used it as a royal residence. Henry VIII spent much of his boyhood there, although he eventually had Greenwich palace built (aka the Palace of Picentia), where Queen Elizabeth was born.
