I thoroughly enjoyed watching this, thank you Chris and Ash. No need to worry about cinematography when the content is so informative and helpful! For many years I never had guidance when trying to choose clothes that looked smart and timeless. I knew that I needed items that would be appropriate for different events as well as ones that would make a good impression in job interviews and the workplace. I scrabbled around taking notes and made a scrapbook of what other people wore and did that seemed to portray the elegance and style that I liked but it was a long journey! I remember feeling really nervous just going into nice outfitters on places like Jermyn Street to get ideas, nowadays I'll pop in for a chat. Sources like yours and also Ash's channel are a gold seam of helpful tips that I'd have loved to access when I was younger. Answering questions for viewers is a really nice detail, hats off to you both . I got to my sartorial destination in the end though (thank goodness!) Out of the blue a stranger told me that I looked lovely on Friday whilst wearing my navy Cordings covert coat over a suit with white shirt and a pink repp tie so I know I'm doing something right. Something I believe in is that is doesn't take too much to stand out and make a good impression, or that much expense either. I know my Crockett & Jones aren't cheap but my word they're worth saving up for if anyone is considering a pair. They'll outlast me. Other items I have cost very little second hand from charity shops, there's stuff out there but it can take time to find it. A good mental attitude, a few staple pieces, discretion and good manners really can work wonders in your life. Perhaps a question the young me would ask is how to start self-improvement with, say, a £100 budget. I realised that lots of valuable things are actually free, like practicing life skills, gaining confidence by practicing speaking, learning etiquette and manners, active listening, learning relevant history, telling interesting stories, not slouching when I walk, a good handshake and so on. A few cheap but key pieces worn with confidence were the first steps in my journey. Nowadays I've had young people tell me they were nervous about a job interview and I'll always say that you don't have to be the best person in the world, you just have to be the best person in that room. Hope you can make it to Concours on Savile Row later this Spring, enjoy your weekend mate! Kind regards, Rob.

Hi Rob, Lovely to hear from you mate and hope you are well? Glad you enjoy the videos and finds them entertainment.😊 Pleased you appreciate and find the questions and answers sessions of use and helpful. It is always lovely to hear when someone gets compliments on their appearance and great to hear you wore a covert coat over a suit with white shirt and a pink repp tie, I hope the covert coat was made with thornproof material, 😄 seriously the ensemble sounds great 😊 Glad you agree with Ash and myself about the employment of Crockett & Jones, and I whilst they are expensive, I agreed with you that whilst they are not cheap, they are great shoes and will last a lifetime. I totally agree with you that charity shops, vinted, eBay, Etsy to name but a few are a great way of gaining valued items and a way of building up a wardrobe of classic men’s clothing. I fully agree with you, a good mental attitude, a few staple pieces, discretion and good manners really can work wonders in your life. You just given me an idea about a video about how to start self-improvement with a £100 budget. I’m in full agreement, 😊 a lot of valuable things are actually free, you mention practicing life skills, gaining confidence by practicing speaking, learning etiquette and manners, active listening, learning relevant history, telling interesting stories, not slouching when you walk, a good handshake and so on. A few cheap but key pieces worn with confidence were the first steps in my journey. Nowadays I've had young people tell me they were nervous about a job interview, and I'll always say that you don't have to be the best person in the world, you just have to be the best person in that room. Wise words and actions Rob. I’m going to try and go to Concours on Savile Row on the 22nd to 23rd May 2024, but not sure if I’ll make it yet, but remain hopeful. Lovely to hear from you again Rob and hope to see you on the 22nd if I can make it 😊 Take care dear friend 😊

The major factor that appeals to me about your and Ash’s content is that it is not loud, outrageous, over edited in you face garbage. Thanks keeping it on the level. Not only is the subject matter a wealth of information but the way in which it’s presented is something we can learn from. 👊

Yes, I agree entirely. There are also one or two other channels which are also restrained like Kirby Allison and Hugo Jacomet's satorial talks, but for those I will never feel quite at home while my back balance is any less than 7 figures! Chris and Ash provide content approachable for the average man.

Glad you enjoy the videos and thank you for your support. There is no need to be shouty or loud, its not gentlemanly, encouraging or inspirational acting like a shouty bully like figure🙂Thank you for your comments👍🙂

@@bernardprice You're absolutely right, some of the other channels are very entertaining but at a level of aspiration that not everyone could, or even would want to achieve. I use those other channels as a sort of pick and mix of information. I had the pleasure of meeting Kirby in London by chance a couple of years ago, he really is a decent chap. He had an impressive professional lighting and camera set-up with a crew and was taking a break whilst filming one of his videos. Thankfully I was dressed very smartly for an event I was attending in St James' that evening but if I'd have been wearing jeans and a t shirt I probably wouldn't have introduced myself at all out of embarrassment!

Love your work, I'm called eccentric as I wear a tie at work but I don't care. I favour a four-in-hand but will try the Victoria and Albert ones. I prefer a tie clip betwén 3rd and 4th buttons but it's all about personal preference. Keep up the good work.

The 2 greats in 1 show! Whats your opinion on white shirt, red grey striped rep tie, navy blue cardigan, and jeans, brown wingtips? Wore this and got massive compliments from strangers. Then again they were wearing tee shirts and jeans. You two are the best.

Hi there, that sounds like a great combination, whilst in the video we were talking about the disparity between casual and formal being a bit jarring, when wearing a tie with jeans and a blazer or jacket, in this case you describe much more of an overall casual look with the navy blue cardigan. Brown brogues go well in a casual setting as well as a more formal situation, it also depends on the colour of the jeans as well, I have a pair of grey jeans in a summer weight that look more like trousers. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your support👍🙂

These Q & A's are a brilliant idea, very informative and entertaining in equal measure. Incidentally, the sound on your microphone, Chris, was better than Ash's, but okay with the volume turned up. Concerning the questions, it is never lost on me the huge effort that goes into researching, filming and editing the videos that you both broadcast for our benefit. KZbin can be a relentless treadmill, and what I particularly like is the fact that your content and Ash’s is aimed at the ordinary gent (just like me) who wants to be more gentlemanly in his demeanour and yet may only have a relatively modest budget for the sartorial element of that process. Following the advice of you both, the bulk of my wardrobe attire (including shoes) is now either second hand, or altered / upgraded existing items, but you would never guess! Five years ago, the very idea of this was unthinkable. Of equal influence, my pursuit of sartorial smartness has encouraged me to embrace bolder colours, new ideas (my first pair of trouser braces) and previously avoided fabrics (my first linen summer jacket). Lastly, your suggestions on mix & match around certain statement garments have extended my wardrobe possibilities no end. Looking good? Most certainly. Feeling great? Definitely!😊👍

Hi John, glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your comments. We both enjoyed doing the question and answer sessions and we hoped that people would gain further understanding about how to resolve issues they were facing sartorially, or answering their curiosity on particular points. It is warming to find that your personal development sartorially has improved due to our videos and efforts, which makes all the time and effort taken by us worthwhile 🙂 I'm pleased to hear that our tag line of looking good and feeling great resonates with you, and I would say on the occasions we have met and by the images you have sent to me in correspondence shows you are successful in look good and that must make you feel great about yourself 🙂 It's always fantastic to hear when people grow and strive to be more gentlemanly in life and you are a true gent John 👍🙂

Mountaineering. How I miss it. As a young man it was an avid passion that provided unparalleled majestic and, at times, harrowing experiences. Motor sports and water sports were also endeavors of serious pursuit in my past. I'm somehow not surprised you seem to be of the same ilk. Cheers Chris.

Hi Douglas, yest back in my younger days I was considering doing my international mountain guide, but just couldn't afford to live abroad for so long. Thanks for sharing a piece of your history with us and glad you enjoyed the video 👍🙂

I'm a slim man in my early 30's who wears braces/suspenders exclusively! A nice pair of navy blue grosgrain braces/suspenders with brown leather and brass hardware should be very versatile. In my opinion wearing suspenders that match your shirt color exactly would signal to others that you feel insecure about wearing them. Avoid clip ons and purchase proper buttons to have sewn on the pants. If people bring up my suspenders they are usually positive/curious about them. I've never had any outright negative comments or looks.
