amazing how the Belgians new what was coming in WW1 and removed the towns plans to a safer place, Ypres was completely destroyed in WW1, after the war they rebuilt the town to the exact same specifications as it was before it was destroyed, such a beautiful place that is only just over 100 years old

Sadly, in April 2022, the London Regiment was re-designated 1st Battalion London Guards with G (Messines) Company, Scots Guards (formerly A (London Scottish) Company), in Victoria. London Regiment has become a reserve company supply for the fou senior Foot Guards. Really wish they would bring some back instead of shrinking them down.

The title is misleading. London, and Scotland, and the Menin Gate are three separate locations. If the Scots regiment is based in London, that is its own matter: London-Scots Regiment. Or, as they are the Pipes and Drums of this Regiment: London-Scots Pipes and Drums. They have traveled to Belgium, to Ypres, to honor the military dead, and those who survived the regional battles of WW1, at the Menin Gate, in Ypres. “London-Scots Pipes and Drums, honor at the Menin Gate, Ypres, Belgium.” I am a Teacher. I took lessons to play Bagpipes, yet was not talented enough. And, in my travels, I have visited Ypres, and the Menin Gate, as I am interested in the history of the First World War. My heritage is a third Scots; American.

Think everyone knows that London, Scotland, and the Menin Gate are different places. We were the London Scottish marching at the Menin Gate (A company London Scottish of the London Regiment, now G company Scots Guards of London Guards). The pipes and drums are a private company and not military, they were just with us.

Not all in the world may know locations -plenty over here in America can't find their own State on a map, or be able to identify one nation like in Africa. As I am a Teacher, I would edit the title, and have punctuation inserted, like I wrote. Seeking to help, clarify. Of course, there are times, when like a space to write a title only allows 40 characters, so a limit is reasonable, without punctuation. We have a London, here in Ohio, about 70 miles away -not very impressive. There was a local Oktoberfest, here in Ohio, where Belgian flags were hung, not German.

The guy in the middle of the rank was the official photographer the rest was done by a buystander me , David’s dad . Not great but my wife and I enjoyed the experience. (Strike sure).
