I worked first at an advertising agency and then at Newman Street branch Post Office in the 1970s and recall my time in Fitzrovia as a very privileged time in such an elegant, diverse, historic and vibrant area. A town within a town and character and individuality in almost every side street. Splendid tour and account.

I used to work off the Tottenham Court Road. I used to know all the pubs etc ie "the Fitzrovia". It was full of camera and electronic shops.....nowadays its full of restaurants

I think you are referring to the BT tower. Think it was the tallest building in London prior to the building of Canary Wharf (although i may be wrong on that)

No, not the only one here who always associates Goodge St with Donovan's song Sunny Goodge St~ also performed by Marianne Faithfull an others~ I always hear the song in my head when Googe St is mentioned. Certainly never associate it with "Boy George' although I am well aware of his music in the 80's ~ never a fan .
