I have Mr. Debussy, Mr. Grimshaw, yourself, and this site to thank. I fell in love with Mr. Grimshaw's Round Hay Lake painting and purchasing it on quality, non-acid paper, beautifully framed. We live very near a place just like that and I see myself and my husband standing there gazing at a very similar site. We are in our mid-70's now and I like to believe we could be like that together, forever. Thank you for bringing this, one of my most favorites of Mr. Debussy and beautiful artwork together for all of us appreciate.

I feel this iconic piece lost something in the translation to orchestra. The shimmering of the overtones of the piano strings conveys the intangible shimmer of moonlight - the magic of moonlight. The physical shimmer is too elusive and ephemeral for the physical realities of an orchestra, no matter how perfect.

My mother passed away two years ago. I decided to write a memoir about her. Whenever I write, I put on movie soundtracks of emotional music or just compilations of inspirational music. So I'm writing and listening when I decide that the one song I'm listening to needs to be bumped. When I change the song, I see Claire De Lune and I'm so moved by the synchronicity that i decide to go a step further and look up Claire De Lune to see if the song had any meaning or any background information that was interesting. Both my grandmother and mother loved, loved, loved this song and i remember my grandmother playing this piece on the piano. I Googled Claire De Lune and found out that it's very special and spiritual (just like the female matriarchs in my family). Here's what I found: "Clair de Lune, its title French for “moonlight” is based on the poem of the same name by Symbolist poet Paul Verlaine. In both the famed classical music piece and its lesser-known companion, we are taken through a journey to introspection - the lifetime adventure of understanding the soul in all its phases." I don't know what got into me to type all of this personal family stuff to someone i don't even know, but I feel better --so thank you--haha! My bond with my mother with whom I miss so much feels better--or maybe Claire De Lune just told me so. God bless all who read this.

This is the song that has always made me think of only the good, and dreamy parts of this life. The love you share with others. Laying on the cool grass on a summer evening just looking at the stars and listening to the crickets chirp. The breeze gently blowing through the trees, bringing in the smell of rain. My grandma's flower garden, and how it seemed so magical with it's big fat furry bumblebees. Grandma's hands that would dig in the garden, and feed me the best food, and pull me close for a long hug. Sitting on the front lawn with neighbors and watching the fireworks on the 4th of July. Watching my children run and play and laugh. The comfort I feel when I'm in my sweetheart's arms... This picture has lead me to hear the Debussy Claire de Lune orchestrated, something I know well but as the piano piece it is. Am now enjoying this orchestrated work. ➖Shockingly nice and romantic the rest of the pictures too. I suppose they're all Grimshaw works. A very good artist, I find.
