Das ist so toll! Ich träume schon lange davon nach Stonehenge mit dem Rad zu fahren. Hello! Thats so cool, definitely cool to do it in Winter 😁. One of my dreams is it to do such a tour. Starting in London or Dover...Thanks so much for sharing! Liebe Grüße🙋♀
@londoncenturies2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Very glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it had to be done in Winter. I left so early because originally i thought (maybe a bit stupidly) I could get there for sunrise. Then I saw the ice on the roads… But later realised I should have timed it for sunSET, the end of the shortest day. That must have been the moment to celebrate. Oh well, maybe I’ll do it again next year. I hope you get to live out your dream ride. I don’t know where you’re viewing from but I’m hoping to be riding through some German speaking countries later this year. All the best!
@kaffeemitcola65062 жыл бұрын
@@londoncenturies I live in northern Germany in the area of Braunschweig and the more you go to the south in Germany the better it gets. Human powered journeys are great but tooo many germans dislike them so its sometime a struggle on the roads. And there are some amazing things to see this time. Not because they are beautyful but because they impress so deep, for example if you ride over the Harz mountains. Apocalyptic. Liebe Grüße und allzeit gute Fahrt. 🙋♀

You made it look easy 😂😂😂. Glad you mentioned your knees and bum at the end. I was beginning to think you were a machine 😅. Well done. Great ride and I’m sure it’ll put you in good stead for PBP. just remember to cycle in the correct side of the road 😂😊
@londoncenturies Жыл бұрын
😀 Yep, knees and bum were pretty bad by the end of that one, but better now, no long term damage. Definitely not a machine! Thanks v much for the encouragement, PBP is going to be a very long way and the tiredness is going to be off the scale...

Just brilliant, how do you stay upright on those roads? Love your lobster gloves….
@londoncenturies Жыл бұрын
Cheers Ian. How do I stay upright? Dunno - luck!! Those lobsters got me through France & Switzerland last spring in crazy cold temps. I was in Austria day before yesterday in snow and could have done with them then but had left them at home because they’re so massive. Major error!!

Great to have you back. Lovely video as usual. Not sure cycling at 3am in that temp is a good idea mind but you survived and had a great ride in the end which is what cycling is all about of course. Happy new year to you 🎉

Thanks Phil, and I appreciate the appreciation. I’m not going to make a habit of those long ones on cold dark nights but I can’t wait for a bit more daylight. I did another night one this weekend just gone and it went ok but generally I’m going to wait for better weather now. Hope 2023 has kicked off well for you!

Great vid. The irony is if you'd done it on the actual winter solstice it would have been far less subzero-however, the weather was crisp and clear so better from the viewers perspective doing it early!

You're right there! It had to be the weekend because I was working today but I got very lucky (in a way!) with the weather. Good thing is, the frostbite (!) in my toes seems to have disappeared now but I got some nice atmospheric footage in that weather. Lucky result.

Ha! The bits I cut out of that vid included the bit where I was lost in a wood at about 5am somewhere near Farnborough, the bit where I got lost trying to find a short cut around Aldershot, and various others in a similar vein. But I do seem to make it back home eventually!! 😃Cheers for the comment, much appreciated!
