I had thought about doing this but -- if I do this now, I sure am going to try to do it when it isn't so busy. What a zoo.

I enjoyed watching the ride, thanks Johnny! It sure does look a less hassle than flying by air. I guess Eurostar departures is a lot busier than usual with schools finishing for the summer holidays so many families take advantage to travel this time. I'm glad you enjoyed the trip, many thanks and have a great weekend :)

It certainly is. I always flew to Paris from the UK - the other week I went by Eurostar for the 1st time. What a difference! Much more straightforward & comfortable. No more flying!

Great livestream, my wife and I just did this in May. But we then took the train from Brussels to Bruges. Yes it was packed in the morning when we went.

I have passed through St Pancras station multiple times, to and fro from Belgium. It was few times...so horribly crowded, people pushing, shoving each other at the limited crowded sitting place. Eurostar to Belgium was fully packed last july 2024

It's always overcrowded at the interchange holding area in St Pancras. Not very good if you're disabled though. Beautiful sunshine you had travelling. Someone moaned at me for hitting him with my backpack but the train was so packed at xmas. Accidents happen, he wasn't nice.

The metro in Brussels south/zuid/midi has several lines, but the one going north towards the centre is a tram runiing in metro tunnel for this part of the journey. Large works are ongoing to convert this line into a real metro.

You should once travel to Antwerp Central Train station in Belgium. Such beautiful grand architecture!

Did you travel during summer holidays? Lots of families by the look of it. No wonder it was crowded.

The more expensive ticket you went for gives a little more space and comfort, and that is the reason to go for it, but definitely not the meal which can be very simple and small.

If booked in advance on selected dates, the London Brussels return journey can be found below 100 euro/dollar.

The overcrowded station at St Pancreas is annoying, certainly if you het there early and spend over an hour waiting. On the other hand, arriving late can have you wait in long lines and with a risk of missing the train. I try and arrive around 55 minutes before the train departure.

St Pancras is my favourite railway station in the UK. Nottingham is my second city (as my best mate lives there so I go to his regularly) so I usually visit St Pancras rather regularly (from platforms 1-4, on the other side of the barbed wire fence). Still yet to do Eurostar. The immigration process has been the same both before and after Brexs**t (I hate Brexit) as the Uk isn’t part of the Schengen area. If only it wasn’t so persnickety but it wouldn’t be the UK otherwise lol. And I agree with you about the Kent countryside. Not great but most English people will agree (except the Kentish folks)

Excellent video. I had to laugh when you said that you were going into the bathroom, and there was no bath in the room. I think you meant the WC. The graffiti entering Bruxells is horible. There is no such thing as a Belgium language. Biggest language in Begium is Dutch followed by French and German. Its an excellent video that I enjoyed watching.

1:41 Hate to be the "uhm actually" person but the EU never defines open borders. That is the Schengen zone which was created during WWIII. Switzerland is not in the EU but because it is in the Schengen zone no passport checks are needed to enter France for example. The UK used to be in the EU but was never in the Schengen zone.

The train managers doing the onboard announcements are good in their mothertongue, but in the other 2 languages it can be difficult to understand or even hilarious. Good exceptions exist.

I HATE being herded! In China, lining up with the masses for the high-speed trains was traumatic - this doesn't even seem as well organized as that was. And I am trying to imagine how it must be for folks with gaps in their English fluency.

makes no sense to use these "high speed" trains in europe. if you traveled by car you'd be there 2 hours faster
@ianpilkington20375 ай бұрын

@openbob66565 ай бұрын
@@ianpilkington2037 but he was waiting for the checkup and passport control for hours and no seats available and then boarding the train and all that process is so inconvenient and stressful and long that it would just be easier and faster to get in a car and drive there.
@kevinrichard1005 ай бұрын
You 'd be there 2 hours faster by car? Train 2 hours. 186mph. So you're saying car zero hours. So you drive faster than the speed of light?
