I am soooo thankful I found your channel. I have been so worried about the baby ( Venus) i have been watching that channel and have gotten attached to the Troop. After the abuse video the channel just left us hanging. They posted they no longer visit the zoo. Thank you so much for putting your time and money into bringing us video of the Family. Im in the States and no way to visit the zoo. I will definitely be a regular even if I don't comment. Thank you again so relieved the babies are doing fine.

I wonder if they clean it up
@Ape_Appreciation

If they didn't clean it up I'm fairly sure there would be a lot of poo in that room and very little floor space with out poo. At night the gorillas go to their private sleeping quarters. That gives the staff a good few hours to clean their habitat.

@suejohnlaptop, it amazes me the intricacies in our natural world. We can train a rabbit to poop in the same place/potty train if you like, but we have these incredible humanlike animals that can use tools but can not be taught to use a toilet area. It's such an important part in nature when animals that eat plants spread their droppings for more plants to grow. These are my very un scientific thoughts on how it all works anyway and itc does amaze me how each and every living being takes it's part in our planet, apart from most of us humans that tend to take from earth but not give back.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I’m so happy to see these two little angels I could cry 😢! They are growing, little legs getting stronger and trying to run. Soon they both will be excellent little acrobats! 😊❤❤

Thank you for the updates! I'm not squeamish at all, and I think all ape-viewers (I mean online viewers) have seen similar scenes. Kintaro was even "hunting" for Genki mama's poop and was fascinated by her urinating as well until he weaned completely. Jabali and Ringo also tasted their mommies' products, but they also gave up this habit. So poop-eating seems to be widespread among (captive) gorilla babies - well, with the adults' strictly vegan diet what could go wrong? 🤣 (Naturally, adult animals eating feces might be a sign of zoochosis.)

@latralla4577 I'm fascinated that so many of us know so many of the Apes all over the world. There is definitely a large group of people that watch lots of video on KZbin. It was Genki and her family that started my obsession off. She is old now and I'm not sure what that would happen if she had another baby but the love in her eyes when she looks at Kintero, even now!! And the absolute panick if he is separated by a gate, something she can't control. It's almost heartbreaking. Do you think she could have another? I mean she would have to convince Momotoro to do the deed and every time she approaches he looks terrified! He looks like he has ptsd from having to do it twice already!! I love their family. Also, I've been told along with three rolling laughing crying emojjis that I know absolutely nothing about animals and that they do not have feelings. They work on instinct alone. You seem to know your stuff which is why I'm asking, but to me they do have feelings, I know that many mammal feel empthy but they do also live in the moment. Another question to you is I have seen your comments on Jinga and Jarang. I have been quite verbal in the past that my opinion was he hasn't been taught because Jinga hasn't realised she needs to teach him amd I always felt there was nothing wrong with Jim. Again, I got all this from 3 min videos. I know you have said something about a neurological issue or something. I always said I will admit if I am wrong and now I think I.was wrong Apart from his hernia what is wrong wrong with him? Thank you for your comment today, it is very appreciated as usual. If ypu are in the UK then have a great Bank Holiday.

@@Ape_Appreciation Thank you for trusting me, but I'm far from knowledgable (and don't want to fall victim to the Dunning-Kruger effect either) 😁, but I'm really amazed by great apes. My love for them started when I read 'Chimpanzee Politics' by Frans de Waal, the next one was 'Next of Kin' by Roger Fouts - I mention these authors not because of their extraordinary work on the field of primatology, but also because they readily admit that animals have not only emotions, but feelings as well. De Waal even talks about "anthropo-denial", when scientists (or lay-people accuse) anyone who attributes human characteristics to animals of "anthropomorfism". Of course, animals have complex emotions and feelings, problem is, we can observe them but we can't "measure" them or reproduce them in labs, which would be the scientific evidence of their existence. I think if someone denies animal emotions, grief, empathy, altruism and so on, they do it because of a subconscious fear of losing human "superiority" and "uniqueness" - in the end it would turn out we're not different from "them"! As for Genki mama - I don't know if it would be good for her to have another baby, I mean, she's not in perfect health, although she's not old yet. (But in secret I would be happy about it.) I have a different theory of Momo's reluctance - I think when Genki starts solicitating, it usually happens when Gentaro makes her scared, and she urges Momo to assure her about his support. Silverbacks often express their goodwill/support by a symbolic mounting movement, I believe this is what lots of viewers misunderstood and accused Momo of "child abuse", while Kintaro often offers his rear end to his father, but not for sexual reasons, but this is how he accept the silverback's dominance. Gentaro doesn't do it anymore for obvious reasons. So whenever I saw old footages about Genki and Momotaro's mating, Genki behaved differently, that was real solicitation and then real mating. I think she's not coming into estrus for some reason, but hopefully as soon as her cycle returns, they'll mate properly. (I'm sure Momo is attracted to Genki 🥰). But again, that's only my guess, the reality can be different. I only know about Jarang's hernia, maybe you read somewhere else about neurological issues, although I wouldn't exlude them. Both theories seem plausible for me - yours that Jingga is an inexperienced mother and the other one that Jarang has some disorder that slows down his development. It's not easy to recognize for example mental disorders in apes, except they are very obvious. In Japan there's a lovely chimp, Milky, who was born with celebral palsy, now she lives in her own cell, partly disabled, but seems to cope well - she's the only chimp I've seen with typical facial features of mental handicap. A few days ago I watched a footage about a baby chimp whose mother was killed and she was kept in terrible conditions for a few months before a sanctuary rescued her - a psychologist who worked with chimps as well recognized the baby suffered from autism, and then she was treated accordingly, but in that case it was difficult to set up a diagnosis since autism is not really manifested in physical features. And in Jarang's case, it also can be some motoric disorder that we don't know about. I don't know, but I cross my fingers for his health, even if his development is slower than in normal cases. Sorry for the lenghty message, I hope you'll get more precise answers/feedback from other viewers as well🙂. It's always good to read other ape-lovers' inputs (if not derogatory for the animals or the zookeepers who work their ass off)

@latralla, I have only just found this message! I'm so sorry it has taken me so long! I didn't realise how difficult it was for a channel to find questions or second comments after my reply in the comments section! Sometimes I feel a bit bonkers when I comment on someone else's comment and all the replies get a thumbs up except mine from the channel I almost take it personally! Ridiculous I know, but now I realise how difficult it can be keeping track! I do hope you are okay. I don't think you have commented for several weeks. I will get back to you regarding your thoughts though. Got to get my child to college!!

@@Ape_Appreciation Don't worry, I know you always reply in person to comments, but it's tricky to keep track of them when you're deluged with messages 😅 I'm fine and I hope you'll soon have the chance to visit the gorilla family again and share another (or more) footage about them!

Baby Venus is such a little cutie, she has the prettiest little face. She looks like she's getting pretty sturdy on her legs now and can move pretty quickly. Yeah I wish they weren't fascinated by poo, I've seen a few babies and adults enjoying that particular treat. 🤮 I'm glad to see Venus looking so well and Effie paying more attention to where she is and what she's doing. 💖💖🦍

Thank you for watching and commenting I debated thos whole week if I should include that part of the video but it's a bit boring without that! I tried really hard to disguise it but went round and round in circles trying to edit it, so in the end I just thought I'd post it and put a warning. I have a really cute video from yesterday I'm trying to edit but I am new at this and the editing is giving me a really bad headache! Hopefully I will get it done soon. Thanks again for watching and if you don't mind please can I ask you to subscribe if I haven't already. 😊

So sweet! Thank you! I read that their poop smells different. It smells sweet which makes sense because they eat bark and leaves etc and many enjoy it even in the wild. Maybe good probiotics. 😍

@lm9991 thankyou for watching! I think most people know that their bellies are big because of the food they digest. I watched a documentary last week and apparently a result of the way they digest is a lot of flatulence 😂

Apparently eating Mama’s poo helps the babies grow a healthy set of gut bacteria, which in turn helps them process the tough vegetation that makes up the bulk of their natural diet. 😃 ❤ (Personally, I’d prefer a probiotic capsule, but…🤷‍♀️🤣🤣)

@vjc2270 Thank you for that information 😀! I was watching an old documentary the other night, and they said that with the extra bacteria and their big tummies to help with digestion, they also are quite 'farty'. And with that information, the silverback on screen stood up and did a big fart! Thank you for watching. Please can you like and subscribe (I refuse to say 'hit the like and subscribe button') anyway, if you like the videos, please can you like my videos and subscribe. Have a good weekend 😊

@suejohnlaptop, I am very sorry you ferl that way. I can assure you that my channel makes no money on any social media sites. I do not accept donations. I pay +-£20 to £30 for the train to and from London. Entry to the zoo costs +-£31. I have paid for a year on an editing web site so I can edit my videos which cost around £100. I use my mobile phone to video, no special equipment. Because of the cost I have been unable too visit for several months but hope to go back in February. I don't work for the zoo. So 'you people' do not make money from the baby gorillas. I started this chanel because of an incident that someone else videos and before assuming anything i felt I needed to visit and see for myself how bad the situation was. I found it wasn't anywhere near as bad as it looked. Unfortunately it isn't perfect either, but that just the humans. The gorillas are perfect. Thank you for watching and I really hope to have an update very soon. Please take care.
