Amazing how calm it is now. The horse isn’t traumatized. The guard isn’t a nervous wreck. Just a all around better environment. Let the tourist cry in their Cheerios. It’s what’s best for horse and Guards not you.

Exactly right I am convinced if every guard just says don't touch the horse it will really stop the touching I started to watch a video a couple of days ago and a lady asked the Life guard if she could touch and he nodded yes.She mauled it for a while then one after the other all grabbing and mauling, three at a time and the guard just sat watching them. What on earth is going on? The Blues and Royals are brilliant. Cannot believe they are still out in that heat, so much respect to the guards and to you John, your dedication to deliver first class videos for us deserves huge respect, thank you so so much much.

The way some of these Life Guards respond, or don't, to tourists touching their is a disgrace! Makes a total mockery of the signs! It's time the officers or SNC's sorted the problem out istead of letting the troopers let down themselves and the regiment!

In this heat my horses get a cool bath then are in their stalls with a fan & plenty of water. I myself don't spend much time out in the heat. Stay well hydrated.

I have often wondered why the horse stomps its foot this is why Horses stomp to indicate irritation. Usually, it's something minor, such as a fly they're trying to dislodge. However, stomping may also indicate your horse is frustrated with something you are doing, and if you don't address it, he may resort to stronger signals.

I am really enjoying your videos here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I appreciate your narration, your genuine love of the horse guards and respect and admiration for those who are there daily doing their work - soldiers, police, and of course horses. Also your taking the time to talk with tourists no matter their language or homeland. And you’re calling out the people who are disrespectful and rude. I wish we could send Mr. ‘Monde to teach them all a lesson! I can’t imagine how hot they must be and there should at the very least be fans in the boxes. Someone could get rich coming up with a cooling suit for the guards like they have for others who work in the heat, to wear under their uniform. The horses also need something to cool them. They are beautiful animals. Thanks for your channel, I very much enjoy the spectacle and commentary. I know you have likely already done so, but I haven’t watched all of your videos yet…, would you mind detailing the differences between the guards who have different uniforms? I also wonder whatever happened to the woman with the bright pink scarf who was called Karen. Has she been back again? I know she was a bit problematic, not attending to social ques, but I think many, like me, developed a soft spot for her uniqueness. I think she would be a delightful addition to any place where she could interact with people the way she did at horse guards, and it be appropriate. Perhaps a petting zoo, or other attraction where her hands on joy and enthusiasm would be well placed. I have a feeling she has had quite a life and challenges to endure, so to see her positive energy where it would be appropriate would be wonderful for her. Just my two cents on her. Thanks so much for bringing the horse guards to all of the Kings commonwealth and beyond!

@alysoncurrie6659 - hope this helps: The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment consists of a squadron from each of the two senior Regiments of the British Army: The Life Guards wear red tunics and white plumed helmets, and The Blues and Royals wear dark blue tunics and red plumed helmets. The Blues and Royals were formed in 1969 when The Royal Horse Guards, which was known as 'The Blues' or 'The Oxford Blues', and The Royal Dragoons, which was known as 'The Royals' were merged. Their battle honors stretch back to Tangiers 1662-1680 and include the Battle of Waterloo where they captured the Napoleonic Eagle of the French 105th Infantry Regiment. The Life Guards, although not the oldest, is the most senior regiment of the British Army. They were formed by Prince Charles, later King Charles II, when he was exiled at the end of the civil war from loyal followers who traveled with him to Holland. Since their first action in the Battle of Maastricht in 1672 the Life Guards have won numerous battle honors, including Waterloo, Marne, Brussels and El Alamein. The King is Colonel in Chief of all the regiments in the Household Division, which consists of two regiments of the Household Cavalry and five regiments of Foot Guards. The regiments that form the Household Division have a long and proud history, dating back to the time of the English Civil Wars and the Restoration in the middle of the 17th Century. Since that time they have proudly carried out a dual role as the sovereign's personal troops and as operational army soldiers for the nation. The headquarters of the Household Division is based at Horse Guards on Whitehall in central London. - As to the lady you asked about, she was permanently banned from Horse Guards around the last time you see her in John's videos 🙂

The woman should have let the guard know about the apple first and ask for permission to feed the horse. Sorry, but you wouldn’t let some stranger give one if your animals a treat. The apple could have been coated with something, people are too weird nowadays, all for attention. The woman meant well, but she should have asked the guard instead of being sneaky about it, but you can never be to safe. You let 1 person feed the horse, everyone will want to feed the horse. I didn't even see the guard respond to her , not even with a head shake..did he even say yes to her on feeding his horse because if he didn't respond to her and she did it anyway, i am glad the apple fell out of her hand and the guard did not let her get it!!

I think sometimes the troopers have a difficult time seeing what a tourist is attempting - something similar to semi-truck drivers! 🙂

Can't help thinking about how many fantastic memories are being made particularly for those children experiencing London. BTW it looked as if the trooper would have allowed the apple had she held onto it..

The first set of troopers had also rode over from barracks, and more or less gone straight on duty so they were hotter than these second set who'd managed to take some kit off and have a drink

Not sure the depiction of hand on a horse ban sign is as good as it could be, it looks slightly odd.

@LondonCityWalks I think that the new sign should be on the other side of the horse and above people's heads ,better noticeable to read. Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦

I can't begin to imagine what that sentry box smells like in those temperatures when the horse leaves a "present" for the next occupant. 😓🥵🤢🤢🤥 36 is absolutely ridiculous, it's getting on for 100F. 90F should be the absolute limit. This is totally ridiculous, inhumane and nothing short of animal abuse - not only is it hotter than hell's steps, they are wearing those thick fur blankets. At least the troopers sign up voluntarily, the horses are conscripted, and can be dying on their feet, and they claim to take care of their horses"? I beg to differ. A bucket of water once in a while hardly counts as "taking care of." Why can't they at least take a sponge and make sure they get them wet. What do these poor animals have to do, keel over with heatstroke? Please say they got taken in for the day. They've taken them in when it was cooler than this.
