My son in law retired after 22 years from hcav, you are quiet correct when you say serving soldiers and have been on combat duty not only horses also armoured cavalry believe me I can tell you they were in the thick of it, as other regiments were. Greetings from San Diego, CA !! I'm a relatively new follower of your channel and must say how much I enjoy what you're showing !! I've been following for the last four months. I guess I get to see a part of London that I would not normally see !! In fact, I've never been to England in all my 82 years of life. My mother was born in Bristol, my father was born in Yorkshire. It would really be nice if they could "spruce up" the Pill boxes that the very sharp looking horse and guard have to stand in !! They look a little shoddy and don't fit the subject !! Sorry to be critical, but that's just me !! Cheers !!

Those boxes ( not pill boxes 😀 ) are over 250 years old and Horse Guards itself is a Grade 1 Listed Building meaning it's of architectural and historical importance and cannot be changed . Portland stone requires very specialised cleaning not just a quick " spruce up " 😊 . They fit very well with the historical subject 😊 . Happy New Year .

I have to say it's frustrating to see one trooper fiercely enforce the rules and then the next trooper says nothing when people invade the box. Consistency needs to be applied.
