Foodsharing works great in bigger cities. But the more rural it gets, the harder you will find those fridges and free pastry. The closest to my place is 15 km distanced. How about doing a challenge there? I‘d be reallly curious with which ideas you come up. 🙂

As much as it's good to economise, it's not practical to spend only €1 a day on food in Germany. Rather divert your funds towards home cooking and challenge yourself to only €5 a day if you actually get tempted to have to spend anything outside. We have healthy salads, coffees, baked stuff, yoghurt and maybe even some pizza slices to get you through the day. Never actually knew about the community fridges but it'd also good to know that you can get some free stuff there too. But I'm sure you won't find it in all the cities in Germany.
