*Londonist, can you please make a video on Southall Market ASAP? It's one of the country's oldest markets, dubbed the last of "proper" markets left in London, established 1698. There are quiet plans to eradicate it. Half of it had already been replaced by a car park a few years ago, with the ancient horse market completely gone. Now Ealing Council plans to build private flats over the much used market, and only allow a few small stands trade outside the site.*

Ed Wilson perhaps you'd care to look at what ten years of tory government has done to this country and ask yourself if the NHS, the disabled and the poor can take another 5 years of this crap. All this countries failings are the fault of the tories, not the EU, not the poor, not the immigrants, the tories they have created the rott and the toxicity.
@edwilson54165 жыл бұрын
@@GreatSageSunWukong You sound like a bitter and twisted lefty remainer. Thankfully most of the good British public refused to swallow this scaremongering hysteria that the Biased Broadcasting Corporation did its best to promote. The government is putting more money into public services now and soon there will be more when we get our windfall from not being an EU net contributor. We'd all be worse off under a far left Labour government that would car crash the economy with reckless spending leading to lower tax revenues and less funds for public services. Anyway, if you are that unhappy in 'Tory Britain' you could always bugger off. Maybe give North Korea a try if you're uncomfortable with how democracy works. Happy Christmas. X
@GreatSageSunWukong5 жыл бұрын
Ed Wilson nope I'm a realist look at what ten years of tory rule has done to this country. Look at our debt, look at austerity, look at the foodbanks, look at the fit for work interviews and the numbers dead within 6 months of being declared fit for work, look at the council funding cuts, look at the police cuts, the fire service cuts and look at creeping privatisation of the NHS since the legislature was introduced in 2012 to allow first dibs on services bynthe private sector, look at the number of homeless on our streets. If you can't acknowledge facts and the evidence you see in front of your own face thats unfortunate but now you have 5 more years for it to hit home, and Don't go trying to blame others for the mess, its all happened deliberately under the tories rule, it isn't anyone elses fault the state of this country except those who are running it. And may I remind you we control over 95% of our own laws and even the UN have condemned the cruel tory social security reforms, oh and we are now the 7th largest economy in the world down from the 5th because of brexit. You will not have a windfall you will have a golden shower unless you're in the top 3% of earners, but it seems your too brainwashed to realise that until your getting pissed on by it. Good luck to us all, i pity people like you but you will understand how you've been lied to and used in the end.

Great that they are so open and accepting of other races and religions, well done. I think its worth asking why this is possible in some western countries like Britain and yet would not be so possible in the country where the faith originates. This could be asked of many other religions that are thriving in another country. I would like to add at this point that my personal beliefs are atheist, humanist, evolution, and broadly scientific. I have warm feelings towards different races, indeed my own marriage is inter-racial, and i have personal connections with LGBT. 'coffee coloured people by the score' as the song goes. I think the success of the 'people harmony' in the video is that in Britain the government is 'nominally' secular and I think most people and government quietly accept this. Even if this is sometimes not apparent with references to God being left in with the dialogue, not added, but not being thrown out either. This state of play in Britain is slightly fragile, but that would be the tip of the ice-burg for further discussion.
@jamess18175 жыл бұрын
@@TheRahsoft Well there are complexities like you mention and plenty more besides. The basic point I was trying to make was the umbrella of secularism and tollerance. What about twenty years ago please reply.

Twenty years ago was better( but still had issues eg there was communal violence among the Sikh community in Vancouver). I think the situation has only got worse since then.i would argue there is less tolerance today especially genuine tolerance( more PC tolerance )I would put that down to the politics going back over the last twenty years in which religion became more and more politicized. Whereby communities were offered funding in return for votes. It also because we were too willing to tolerate bad or inappropriate behaviour for fear of being called a bigot, racist or worse Islamophobic( I've had a few idiots try that on me without thinking about whether it would work or not because they made some very stereotypical assumptions about me, until I tell them the name of my late father in law )
