@m0osie_4 Okay but they are right though, usually if someones telling a story about themselves or how someone else has wronged them, it is a bias version. That being said he did well to admit there were parts to this he liked, he got off on being wanted & admired. He encouraged her at times.. most people also wouldn't mention that, they're 100% the victim & the other person is 100% the perpetrator. Most people also wouldn't openly admit they've gone back time & time again to someone's home who is sexually abusing them.

This show will stay with me for the absolute rest of my life. It was so hauntingly beautiful in a morbid way. Not the things this man endured, but the way that trauma can truly affect a person, including self loathing and how those things can dictate so many choices/decisions we make even when we know we aren't always making the best decisions and so on. What I found most beautiful was how he began to find a better outlet and way of coping for his pain. I too had went through some similar things this man had, and so for me, his speech and (No spoilers) "breakdown" on stage he had towards the end of the show had me in tears and stuck with me for days, if not weeks after watching. Just, Wow! The talent, bravery, and pure strength of this guy amazes me. It's not easy when you've been hurt or harrased/abused in any way by another. But to lay your authentic self and pain out there for the world to see and try to accept your entire self, trauma, and all, I'll just say, this man has my utmost respect. I truly hope he is doing better. 👏 Bravo on a masterpiece of a show.

Hard to watch Fringe shows prior to the interview as usually you're interviewed about it because it was successful at the fringe circuit or to advertise it mid-run. Not exactly that easy to go up to Edinburgh to watch it. Lot harder to watch theatrical stuff before an interview than it would be for movies and shows.

As far as being kind to strangers goes, I understand him giving her that first cup of tea for free. She seemed hard on her luck and lonely. The next time, she asked for a Diet Coke and didn’t have the money to pay for that. It would still be kind to say “I can take care of this one too, but I can’t keep paying for your drinks. You’re always welcome here and if you’d like a water, it’s always free.” Paying for so many Diet Cokes for a regular patron adds up and burns a big hole in your wallet especially when you’re hurting on cash yourself. It’s good to be kind, but it’s also important to not cross that fine line that turns you from kind to a pushover.

This show was so intense and so dark.Martha stalked Donny relentlessly and then started to stalk his Parents!Yes some of the show was dramatized still think she imo did most of those things even though she said she didn’t get arrested for stalking him.If it’s true she stalked another lawyer( if that is who it was) and their deaf child maybe she should have been arrested for that if she physically assaulted the child.Even though in the show she was presented as being dangerous Donny still had some compassion for her. Some gray areas were shown. That was interesting and how things can be in life.

If he was a minor then I would blame her 100% because kids can't give consent and are not really aware of dangerous situations but this guy is a movie writer and producer and a 40 year old man and he could say now he knows it is both their fault but she's the only one getting the heat because of the show while he gets rich so...

Possibly yes, all creative writing courses tell the students to write from personal experience, so as a writer he was probably thinking this might make a great script one day, so theres nothing to judge as being wrong there really. Hes clearly been a struggling actor, writer, comic for years. It’s v hard to break out and actually earn some decent money, and its not just the story, it is the writing in the characters, he shows so many parts of both himself and Martha, he literally laid himself bare for the world and his art, so all kudos to him imo. But yes, of course Fiona needs support, is clearly mentally unwell, but let’s not forget she was the perpetrator here and she wrote her own script.

@@ChromicLights The fact that the actor is the real guy changes everything. Here is why: First, when watching a TV show, we know that they will fantasize a little about things, romanticize. But when the real person is involved in the script and decides to end the show with that scene all about Martha, that's not dramaturgy, that's a message straight forward to her, the real Martha. His last hot and cold movement, the last attempt to mess up with her head. Second, nobody that has come through such horrible experiences in life talks about it with that amount of enthusiasm, on the interviews he talks like an actor who played a random character, not showing any emotion at all. It seems like he finally has the attention he always wanted, it seems like he invented most part of it to be honest. Third, the minute I watched his old stand-up videos, I knew I was right about him.
