↓ LYRICS ↓
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say? (Don't believe a word I say)
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (with suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
Should an old friend I know
Stop and say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eye?
Here you go again
Asking where I've been
You can see the tears I cry (see the tears I cry)
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (with suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
Oh, let our love survive
I dry the tears you're cryin'
Don't let this good thing die
You know I've never lied to you
No, no, no (yeah)
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say? (Don't believe a word I say)
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (with suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
Caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
I'm caught in a trap
And I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

Always thought this was the only cover version worth listening to. Never twigged it was Jimmy Somerville, in all the times I’ve listened to it. What is wrong with me? It’s May, 2024 now and I’ve heard this version as much as, maybe more than Elvis’ original, over the years.

The 1980s definitely were a time of joy in musical experimentation and overall optimism... which shows itself in the music, styles, and dancing of the era. There was a feeling that humanity could actually change things for the better if we made things happen.

That split second at 0:35 on the word "believe" where he affects Elvis' voice... What subtle and touching homage. And the gold suit. Well done, FYC.

2022 my very first CD on my first "Sony Diskman" was The Fine Young Cannibals first Album. 1990. I still have it and it is pure Magic! Not even a hair line scratch! This group still at nearly 52 (3 days) years old, still gives me goose bumps. My wife's ringtone is "She Drives me Crazy" interpret that however you want. Lol I was flying to W.V. from Wa. State to go to my Army Training for 16 weeks and that's what I listened to until the batts gave out. And to this day, I always think of FT. BELVOIR W.V. When I hear anything "F.Y.C."

I love the critique of some videos, which are done with few resources, but with a lot of creativity. The pictures, according to the rhythm of the song are incredible. The dance of the guitarist and bassist out of rhythm with a parallel reality was incredible. I love this video since the 80's.
