Nice! There is a park called The Point, which is about 10 mins walk from Greenwich park. It’s got even better views.

Hi Mike, I absolutely love your videos and I'm so grateful for all of these top tips that you're sharing. I live in London too and have just treated myself to a Sigma 150 - 600 lens so I definitely plan to check out all of these places that you have mentioned (I'm literally going through your whole playlist now hahaha). Also, I wanted to thank you for being so open as to where all of these locations are as I know that there are other photographers out there who wouldn't share this information and would want to keep it a secret. Lastly, where did you get the shoulder camera mount that you're wearing in this video from, please? I've been trying to find one like this for ages. All the best :)
@LondonViewpoints Жыл бұрын
Hi Harry, thanks a lot for your kind words and glad to hear you’re enjoying the Best views playlist. The shoulder camera mount I got is from Peak Design Capture V3 but I’ve heard of a competitor called F38 by Ulanzi that I am looking into switching for compatibility reasons for my tripod, so I recommend you decide between the two

Yeah that's unfortunate. Even if they just extend the current skyscraper cluster. Amazing viewpoint from the Observatory. Thanks for the video
@youngmurphy75563 жыл бұрын
I remember going there in the 1980s. It was a relatively low-rise vista back then. Those towers have ruined the skyline of London, in my opinion. Same clusters of steel, concrete and glass you can see anywhere. How boring! Your shots do give them a fair amount of visual interest, however. I bet you'd have taken far more interesting shots back before they fired the starting pistol on the bankers' tower block boom.
@LondonViewpoints3 жыл бұрын
Everyone enjoys a different aesthetic , for me, London still has a great ratio of greenery to modern high rise architecture and I do love both, how the natural landscape mixed with a city skyline😀
@youngmurphy75563 жыл бұрын
@@LondonViewpoints Thanks for the response. However, not much will change my mind about the appeal of a low rise city. Paris was wise to shove its towers outside the borders of the core city at La Defense (shame about Montparnasse Tower though) and Athens, Rome and many other cities have preserved their charm after eschewing the faceless, corporate skyscraper.
@LondonViewpoints3 жыл бұрын
@@youngmurphy7556 London preserved some area that I agree should be preserved too, while designated areas like City, Isle of Dogs or Vauxhall for high rise development. While Paris is actually full of tall residential towers build in the 60’s which some would argue are nice ( I like brutalism) but many hate , so I don’t understand how you can say Paris is good but London bad
@youngmurphy75563 жыл бұрын
@@LondonViewpoints I don't think I said London was bad. I think my original point was "those towers have ruined it". I mean, I like the Gerkhin and even the Shard works in isolation but Canary Wharf and the City cluster aren't very appealing. And the only tall building that works in the centre of Paris is the Eiffel Tower. I'm not sure I've seen any tall residential blocks in the arrondissements. There are many outside the peripherique in the banlieues but not in the city proper. And La Defense has turned out really bad. The Grande Arche is hardly visible among the nondescript towers that surround it. In short, the 1990s onwards were bad decades for the cityscapes of some of the world's historic metropolises, I'm afraid. Nevertheless, we're now stuck with them and your photography, as I've said already, gives them a bit of character that perhaps they don't deserve.
@youngmurphy75563 жыл бұрын
By the way, a spot you missed in your Honor Oak/Dulwich episodes was Blythe Hill Fields. You might want to check it out. It's just to the east of Honor Oak Park station and just to the west of the Catford stations. It's got big wide vistas of both tower clusters and very few people seem to know about it. It's just a dog walking spot for locals, it seems.
