THANKS FOR POSTING! I remember that line of dialogue about "running my artistic gauntlet"...As stated in other posts you can see the influences from: WILD WILD WEST, BATMAN, perhaps even THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E...

Good point Keith! It seems the entertainment businesses share their plots,ideas, etc amongst themselves to produce TV shows we've all seen.

Thank you for posting I used to watch this serial in B&W as a kid in the 60s The colour tv show was not as good or had better stories.

I'm sold. It's gotta be Mencken. His voice often does NOT match Morris', and Mencken was already on the payroll!

It *was* Mencken.

Come on guys! Is it Howard Morris,Shep Menkin or Don Messick as the voice of "Mr. Crystal" We all want to know!
@johcafra7 жыл бұрын
Correct, Shep Menken was on the payroll and principally voiced Tonto. But this series had more than its share of guest voices, and Howard Morris's was highly musical, so my money's on him voicing Mr Crystal. P.S. What visual style!

August 29th 2020 Sorry for the late reply. It's also possible that Shep Menken is doing an imitation of Howard Morris as some kind of in-joke or just as a template for coming up with a voice . This whole voice acting schtick isn't as easy as people think it is, to come up with a thousand and one voices like Mel Blanc did.

@@charlescameron6017 I too recall Clyde Crashcup. Plenty voice artists riffed Richard Haydn. Want to hear four credited voices sound like (at least) forty? George of the Jungle.

I believe the voice of the villain is Don Messick... Anyone?... am I right?... famed Hannah-Barberra vocal talent Don Messick is the voice of the villain Mr. Crystal.

We'll see Mik!!

Actually, that was HOWARD MORRIS as "Mr. Crystal". When Howie walked away from Hanna-Barbera after a dispute in 1966, Messick filled in for him as "Atom Ant"- and "Mr. Peebles" (in "MAGILLA GORILLA")- for the remainder of those episodes.

***** I'm basing that it's Shep on the entry in IMDB.com for "The Alvin Show" and it says Menken did the voice of Clyde Crashcup, though Howard Morris certainly is a good candidate for doing an early incarnation of his Prof. Lilloman (Littleoldman) from "High Anxiety"
@Haardyvark8 жыл бұрын
+rclaughlin Morris is the voice guy for this one.

Haardyvark I realize the overall information about the Lone Ranger is kind of sparse and Morris did do cartoon voices, but Shep Menken is Tonto and if you listen to the Alvin Show that voice of Clyde Crashcup is both the Trickster and Mr. Glass.

+Carl-Rolfe Heidelberg Hmmmm...I believe you are right. It has been decades since I have heard Crashcup, and it is a ringer for some of Howie Morris' vocal work. Mencken's range is amazing. I've been going through the extant Lone Ranger episodes trying to ferret out the various actors used. Mr. Happy MUST be Hal Peary, as Willard Waterman would not do the "Gildersleeve laugh". Cheers!
