Ricer, I personally want to thank you for showing me the LSG Pellet Smoker. The fact that it’s 100 American made it’s the cherry on top!!!! I have been doing research to find the perfect Pellet smoker for over five years now. Granted in your past videos you have mentioned that all pellet smokers are good, yet wanted to find one that didn’t need any modifications or any negative reviews. I didn’t want to deal with charcoal or stick burners so when you had mentioned to me about the LSG, I decided to order one way back in March. I was # 288 back then. Now my LSG PELLET SMOKER 20X42 is in Mid October!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Bobby I am so excited you took my advice on this pit brother!! This truly is a lifetime pit! Sure there will be a few things that eventually will have to be fixed but man that is a long ways away!! Like I say just plan that you cure this paint slowly and after your burn off smoke that brisket and then plan another low n slow cook! After that you can run a it up a little bit higher but I won't be grilling at 400+ with it for at least a month!! I plan to have this pit forever, might even have the family stuff me in it and throw me in that 6ft hole when the time comes!!! hahaha Like always brother thanks for watching!!
@bobby21313 жыл бұрын
@@DeadBrokeBBQ You’re welcome Ricer!!!! I do plan to cook at low temps. I will not be using the sear part of the pellet grill. I have Weber gas grill for that. So when I see your brisket video, I will follow it to a Tee!!! Also, I bought extra replacement door seal. I saw on one of the Grill Sergeant videos, on how he was trying to seal hit Pit boss 1800, and one of his steps was to put a seal on the lid, and not on the base of the grill, because the weight of the lid would press down more on the seal. I noticed that the LSG comes with a seal on the base, and since I bought and extra seal, would it make sense to put seal on the lid this way it’s like double sealed?
@DeadBrokeBBQ3 жыл бұрын
Keep that seal for when you need to replace the original one. I only saw a tiny little leak on the lid for a little bit bud! This is by far the tightest pit I have ever had just as is!! Chinese pits leak like sive brother! This first cook video is more about the grill and not the cook but I will tell you enough to have a successful first cook!! I got so much more to share about this pit!!

@@DeadBrokeBBQ Excellent, thank you Ricer!!!! I so excited about this pit Ricer. I have been waiting for the perfect pit for over 5 years!!!! I have researched PitBoss, Gorilla Grillz, Z-Grillz, Traeger, Rec-Tec, Chargriller, Masterbuilt, Green Mountain, Green Egg, Camp Chef, Bradley Smoker, BroilKing, Kamado Joe, Oklahoma Joe, Dyna-Glo, Cusinart, Yoder, Memphis, Louisiana, Cabela’s, Weber Smokefire, Victory, Coyote, Backwoods, and others. It’s like what you said, all these pits are good, but when I saw videos on them, people would either say something they didn’t like or a mod that they had to do. I didn’t want to do any mods and I didn’t want to deal with any issues that other KZbinrs discovered. So that is why I decided to go the LSG!!!! Thank you again for your advice!!!

Hello Jeff. Wow what a grill. USA at its best. I have been apart of your “Nation” for about a year and love all of your videos. I’ve had my old Treager for 18+years and my old (last of the American built) treager is rusting though because I live close to the ocean in San Francisco. I’ve been shopping to replace my baby with a new grill. Researched them all and placed my order for a LSG 20X36 a week before you released your short about them. I was so surprised that you got one and also excited because as you know I’ve got 15 more weeks to wait for my beast. I’ll live vicariously though your cooks till it gets here. Can you tell me why you sprang for the larger wheels? I thought the 5 inch would do as I don’t move my grill much but I am curious. The charcoal grill feature is also exciting for me because there are a few Greek recipes that absolutely need to be cooked over charcoal or lump and I can now off my smoky Joe. Thanks again for you content and keep them coming brother!!!
@DeadBrokeBBQ3 жыл бұрын
Congrats Jerry on your purchase and thank you for being a part of the Nation!!! Ya brother you certainly got your moneys worth out of that Traeger but hands down you made the right replacement choice IMO!! So Lone Star Grillz sent me this pit to do videos on it. I wanted the bigger wheels because I roll my pits all over all the time in and out of the garage when I am filming. I have the 5" on my Santa Maria and they roll good but nothing like the 8". If you are not planning on moving your pit everytime you use it then the 5" will still be great! When i am just cooking for the family I always roll my pits outside and cook on them in the driveway, unless it is raining of course!!! The charcoal insert is so cool because I love reverse seared ribeyes and man I see a couple videos with that already in my future!! I am glad you enjoy my videos Jerry, comments like these are what make me continue to do this!!! Excited to hear when you get your what you think on if!!! Have a great week!

I have yet to try Lumberjack pellets. My go-to for years have been Bear Mountain, since they're made in Marathon City WI. Is there anywhere to buy Lumberjack on a retail level in Central WI or did you go for the whole ton order? What made you decide to go with Lone Star vs a Yoder? The Yoder was my dream rig.
@DeadBrokeBBQ3 жыл бұрын
I think you can get them in Abbotsford? Here is the locater lumberjackretailers.com I started buying Lumberjack in the Appleton area, I liked them and eventually became an ambassador for them. They are smaller in diameter and they have the flavors I am always using. Oak and Hickory are my go to pellets for 80% of my cooks. Bear Mountain is good also. The LSG pit is built with thicker steel and has twice the size hopper. Plus a goof friend of mine has the YS640 and from what I see compared to his the LSG first never stops smoking, NEVER and seems to have twice the air flow and convection in the chamber. For a fair comparison the Yoder 1500 is $1,000 more than the LSG 20"x42". The Lone Star Grillz has built a smoker and not just an oven. I ran a brisket on it for the first cook yesterday and it a fantastic job! The temp swings do not even phase me a bit anymore but there is a swing. The pit overall runs about 10 degrees hotter than the controller setting but that ain't nothing. That 7 gauge steel retains that heat so the Tel Tru hardly budges with these quick mini oscillations on the auger. More videos coming but I am very impressed with this pit!!! Thanks for watching!!

This is not a cheap pit but your grandkids will be cooking on it if you take care of it. PB or Traeger's are not built to last a life time like Godzilla is! Thanks for watching!!
@shaun5363 жыл бұрын
That's a good looking and performing grill. My only question that I have is, what is up with all those spots on the inside that appears to be rust? For the price that you pay on the grill, rust spots is not what I would consider a good sign as to quality.
@DeadBrokeBBQ3 жыл бұрын
You’re joking right? Real bbq pits are welded together with thick American steel and the inside is not painted like the recycled Chinese pop can pits you buy at the box stores. You need to season them similar to a cast iron pan. Are you familiar with cast iron,? It is different than let’s say a Teflon pan. The outside of this pit is painted with high temp paint. If you are referring to the end of the video where it looks brownish inside that is from the oil and the more you season it the darker the patina color you will get. This pit will last a life time not just a couple seasons like a box store pellet grill. Hope this helps you understand the difference between a quality manufactured bbq pit compared to some Chinese dude stamping out the same size piece of sheet metal all week long.

I use the pellet grill more, offset = work. The flavors are very close compared between the 2 LSG's. If you have the time to tend a fire for 12 hours, go for it but honestly the offset is not any smokier, just a tad different because of the wood I use. Thanks for watching!!

Is it worth it? Does it roll the best smoke? I’m looking at ordering one but I want to hear how good it is and if it can come close to an offset. I don’t have time to fire manage but love to cook. Right now it’s this or a Woodwind Pro, but was not thrilled by the pro quality. I love my other camp chefs but think the LSG Pellet is the pick.looking for honest advice if there is something better in the proce range I’m interested. Just sold my ys640. Thanks

This is the best pellet grill I have ever owned, simple as that brother!!! I have ran several Yoders but the LSG still beats them! Bonus, you can ran wood chips through this unit too!! Thanks for watching!!
@matthewsanchi8399 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! Do the chips get it close to the offset and still get to sleep! Love to see your review on the chips cook too. So it sounds like this well over the woodwind pro. Great videos thank you. Just trying to talk myself into that $3600 order.

A fellow LSG owner in WI. I have the 30" vertical offset. Just out of curiosity, what part of WI are you smoking in? Appleton area here. Love your videos!

Does it reach 450F with ease? Is it easy to clean the grease/ash inside the chamber? I know the firepot underneath helps cut down amount of ash inside grill but there will always be some. Also grease you have to scoop out as I assume you can’t push it into the grease drain? Thanks!
@DeadBrokeBBQ Жыл бұрын
It warms up pretty fast, better than a lot of other pits I have ran. You can easily push the grease to the drain but you will need it to keep the pit kind of warm obviously. How I dump the grease on my is after I am done cooking I just open the grease valve and let it drain. Every pellet grill will get a little ash about the heat deflector. The only pit that I have ran that it is really hard for that to happen is the Camp Chef APEX. That review will be posting over on Smoked BBQ Source's channel real soon. I will eventually do an APEX review for this channel but not sure when yet. Thanks for watching!

Have a few questions. How does it compare to the Yoder ys 640? What is the highest temp will it run? Do they sell grill grates for searing ?
@DeadBrokeBBQ3 жыл бұрын
Bigger, thicker steel, bigger hopper, removable fire pot, and never stops smoking compared to the Yoder. Also cheaper than the Yoder 1500. With the sear plate opened you can get in the 700° range. GrillGrates makes sizes that will fit in it and my guess will design grate for it real soon. I have cooked on YS640's and for a long time they were the King but this LSG is wearing the crown now IMO. Thanks for watching!!

What’s up Dead Broke, my lone star is finally gonna be here was curious if you’ve messed around with the cold smoke mode. Or if you were planning on doing a video with the cold smoke feature
@DeadBrokeBBQ2 жыл бұрын
I have not messed with it yet but my buddy Rus has and he said that it ran a little hotter than he liked. I will eventually try it out but probably not until this fall. Thanks for watching and you will certainly love how this pit runs for BBQ!!

I know you're rocking that $3,000 LSG now. Would you still recommend a Pit Boss? I want to get an American made smoker eventually. I am currently using a vertical electric smoker. I would like to start using a pellet smoker. There are so many options and so many issues with different models. Just curious about the Pit Boss.
@DeadBrokeBBQ3 жыл бұрын
That is a very hard question to answer. Of course I will always say buy American, but with made in USA comes with a higher a price tag but the LSG is an amazing buy once cry once pit. My grandkids someday will be cooking on this pit. On the other hand Pit Boss makes a very affordable entry level pit!! But if I had the money or had to wait a year to save up the LSG hands down is the pit I would buy. I have a video filmed that is coming out in a couple weeks that will have some key talking points about pellet grills! Thanks for watching!!
