Embark on an epic three-day journey along the storied expanse of US Highway 50, famously dubbed the 'Loneliest Road In America' by Life Magazine. Spanning 230 miles from Ely to Fallon, Nevada, this adventure is a deep dive into the heart of the American West, where history and rugged beauty converge.
My voyage begins in Ely, where we explore the fascinating historic railroad museum, delving into the rich heritage of the railroads that once dominated this landscape. A visit to the local mining and town museum further unravels the area's storied past, while a leisurely walk through downtown Ely offers a nostalgic glimpse into a bygone era.
As we traverse the Lincoln Highway, the journey weaves through the quaint towns of Eureka and Austin, showcasing the timeless charm of small-town America. The night spent at the Middlegate stagecoach stop is a highlight, providing a unique experience reminiscent of the Old West.
Continuing towards Fallon, the drive is punctuated with stops at mesmerizing sand dunes and historic Lincoln Highway markers, each narrating tales of yesteryear. This road trip is not just a travel experience but a journey through time, revealing the layers of history and natural beauty that define this iconic stretch of highway.
Join me on this once-in-a-lifetime road trip across Nevada's mountains and deserts, and discover the solitude, history, and breathtaking landscapes of America's Loneliest Road.

I see your using Drone footage, I would assume you have your FAA Part 107a? It is required to use drone footage on KZbin. If you dont you may want to consider getting it, I know people who have been contacted by the FAA, fined and have had their videos pulled down. New friend here, love your videos, please be sure to get your Part 107a if you dont already have it

That was epic, Russ! When I traveled that road, I missed all that stuff. I guess I'll have to do it again, and this time take a week! I didn't realize there were so many places to camp and see petroglyphs. I've been through Ely many times to visit my daughter's family in Idaho. I visited the railroad museum multiple times and took the train out to Ruth, but missed the city museum. Thanks a bunch for that movie. I really enjoyed it!

A U S T I N... memories Back in 2003 I made a trip from Las Vegas to Battle Mountain. Id remenber went thru Austin and look like nathing had change. In 2008 became a truck driver. I remenber pick up a load in Twin Falls, ID. Stoped in Wells NV to fuel; drove for two or three hours driving Id get to Ely where I spended one night. It was so dark but the sky was so bright because of the stars. The next day I continued my way all the way to my delivery in Ontario, CA. Since then... "I keep on trucking"

Great video, great trip. This is what i love about the USA. One day, you are the beautiful coastroad, the next day tou are in the dessert and the day after that your are on a beautiful mountain top. I watched the full video. It was calming and i wish i could be there right now. Did my first roadtrip this year in the USA, going from San Francisco, Highway 1, Morro Bay, Sequoia, , Death Valley, Vegas, Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Horshoe Bend, Moab, Bryce Canyon, Escalante, Salt Lake City, June Lake (check it out, it's beautiful overthere), Lake Tahoe, Crater lake, Pacific City, Newport and back to San Francisco. I drove 5000 miles and loved every minute of it. But the best roads for a roadtrip are the lonely roads. Like this, beautiful, what a scenery, what piece and quiet, what a feeling of freedom. I will definitly go back and this road will be on the route of that trip. Thanks !!!

BUT that shoe tree was a huge landmark before the agricultural inspection station … IF YOU ever go back to Hwy 62 … Please visit Joshua Tree National Park (2 entrances off Hwy 62 / 1 entrance off the I-10) .. BEST EVER … Used to visit that MORONGO Valley Basin area … (from MORONGO Valley all the way to Twentynine Palms) … After 10 years of living in Yucca Valley I recently moved here to be closer to my children … So much to see up there!!! … I could even show you some really COOL places !!! They DO NOT DISAPPOINT … Thank you so very much for your travels and posts!!! Just found you so recently … God had a plan … and showed me you & your adventures!!! .. Safe travels 💯💯❤️❤️😀😀🙏🙏🌹🌴🌴🌴🌴🌵🌵🤠👍

So cool to see the Shoe Tree again!!! Last time I was there was 20 years ago - many more shoes back then, but there were also many more large branches too - which, from your excellent aerial footage, I see those branches have broken off from the weight of the shoes. The branches are perfect for shoe shopping! LOL: Loved the petroglyphs...there are many more but it's a different road; probably many different roads! Fell in love with Nevada then and wonderful to see it again. Thanks for the trip!

2017 I went on a road trip from Toledo to Newport Beach, California. Stayed in Denver for a week and then drove to Sacramento. I accidentally found myself on the loneliest road in America, because I apparently don't know how to read maps..lol. When I left Denver I took the fastest route to Sacramento. And I honestly didn't pay attention to the route, because I was under the impression that I -70 just kept going. Little did I realize that I-70 ended at I-15. So I just kept following the route and it took me to US 50. Got sleepy right at the Utah/ Nevada state line and grab a couple minutes of rest. But sleeping in a Mustang kinda suck, so I pressed on. Once I started driving, I noticed the street signs and it kept saying "The loneliest road in America " . To my surprise I realized that I was driving through the desert in the middle of the night. At first, I wasn't happy. But just kept going and started to actually enjoy it. Sometime I pulled over and watched the sunrise, turned off the car and just enjoyed the silence of the desert. Highly recommended that if you get the chance to experience this roadway, it will be something you'll never forget.

Did a motorcycle trip, in 2018, following the Trans America Trail. Took a detour along highway 50 from Fallon, spending the night in Ely, to just over the Utah state line, before turning north and following the dirt trails of the Pony Express route, all the way up to West Wendover. Highway 50 could definitely could qualify for 'loneliest road', but i didn't see a single soul for 150 miles once off the loneliest road.
