Lonely Disabled Lion Finds the Perfect Family

Bonedigger was born with a rare bone disease that left him incapable of surviving in the wild. He was raised by a disabled human in a zoo and the two instantly sensed the similarity in their situation. But the lion’s life took a turn for the better when he was introduced with three fearless dogs. The tint dogs not only bonded with the lion but also took the job of protecting the wild beast at all times. Their friendship and love proves that love transcends all barriers.

I hate seeing these majestic animals in confined areas but in this instance, I totally understand. He looks so happy with his puppy friends & awesome carer. It's extremely conditional. If the lion starved for a few days. I can guarantee it would activate natural instincts. Its amazing to see them love and be domesticated, but I would be a fool to think there were no conditions to its happiness.

This is lovely. As Bonedigger would not have survived, this is a good life for him. But lions are very social cats. He would be really unhappy to be on his own. It is really noticeable that pretty much all creatures, once they have enough food and shelter and aren't frightened, they all are not just able to get on with each other, but really bond and love each other. But not humans. Put a bunch of teenagers in a school, where they're all treated the same, and some will always want to be cruel to others. Then there will be the other kind, like this man, who will just want the world to be good.

Exactly! Social critters, like Lions and wieners dogs, need each other. Friendships are a natural part of the natural world. Your observation about food and shelter is spot-on...there are many instance where a Lion or Cheetah 'adopts' a small animal for a time. With a full belly and no threats, maternal instincts take over and a baby Gazelle finds herself being cared for by the big cat that ate her family. Lions aren't 'playing with their food', they really care about the little-un.

People often compare how opposite the behaviour of chimpanzees are to bonobos. The former living in very competitive, physically antagonistic groups, the later, who are just as hierarchical, but without the constant intimidation and violence. But it was pointed out that bonobos inhabit areas with a much MUCH greater food supply. Whereas chimpanzees are in areas where food is very scarce.

I mean we, as humans, have that same disease so is that from inbreeding? Lots of people don't realize that cats get a lot of the same diseases as humans. EDS, brittle bone syndrome, one of my cats has Epilepsy & the other is an old man with diabetes(both are controlled & okay under medication management thank God). Big cats are like little cats too and vice/versa.

My ex had 2 dogs, a wiener dog and a mastiff. That little wiener was no more afraid of the big mastiff than he was an ant. After the mastiff died we took the dachshund to the dog park and he’d play with all the huge dogs and even try to push them around. Those little dudes are fearless and wear bred to hunt badgers

Reminds me of how my buddy's Tibetan Mastiff, Julie, thinks of me as a member of her family. When I got really drunk/sick one night she grabbed me by my hoodie and dragged me (6'3"/180lbs at the time) to her bed and watched over me the entire night. Now whenever I come over, Julie and her 7 puppies immediately rush me and I then disappear in a mountain of fluff. Then when we go inside I am basically the sitting spot for all of them.
