@@crappyaccount I'm going to respectfully disagree. Unless you're on a stretcher, being transported to the ER with a stroke, it's simply untrue that most people couldn't do "anything." It doesn't take time, money or "the right living situation" to do *something* - conservatively, it would take 10 minutes to pick-up the phone & call Animal Services to help. No one's expecting that if you walk by, you'll be able to bring the cat into your life, pay for vet bills, make a KZbin video. What's expected is that you don't simply walk past & tell yourself, "Nothing I can do." It's easy to think, "Well, look at the good life he got! If I'd called Animal Services? He'd have ended-up at the city pound, and they'd have euthanized him!" Maybe so. But it's not a given that this great life would happen. At least if you called for help, his owners might have been found; someone might have adopted him; he'd at least be warm & fed. I'm just saying, be aware of making excuses, telling ourselves untruths so that we can feel OK not doing the right thing.

Awwww Otto looks similar to my Coltrane (only his fur is much lighter orange)! He was found in a similar condition and had to put weight back on. We fostered him at first but we knew chances were low that anyone would adopt a blind, relentlessly vocal cat, so we kept him. I’m glad Mr. Otto got a second chance like our old boy did. He looks like he’s thriving :))
