My first trip to the Phls was in my mid 40's and it changed my life for the better. I created a completely different perspective on human relations. I think if I had gone to the Phls in my early-mid 20's, I wouldn't have the appreciation I do now. Not to mention, I would have spent all my money there and have nothing left to retire.. LOL. As much as I like AC, Pattaya and BKK is 10x's better.

Any single guy who can see retirement on the horizon should go to the Philippines for a vacation. The flight is long and isn't cheap but that's the only thing. No problem finding a hotel for $25-50 per night, food is reasonably priced. You can go by yourself. I've been there 16 times, always traveling alone. There's plenty of friendly people to keep you company.

Good advice! Get out there and enjoy yourselves, life is too short! Do your research before coming over, and take everything you hear with a grain of salt as everyone on social media have an agenda (click bait). I was lucky enough to be sent to the Philippines on business, and get stuck for a few days, after that I worked to get back as often as possible! I am also lucky enough not to have suffered the scams (or aware).

Great video Chad and great advice to those western guys watching who are bored shitless in suburbia. That goes for Americans, Aussies, Pommies, European guys and more. You'll experience new cultures, new adventures...and typically you'll be treated with way more respect from the woman there than you would at home. I resisted going to the Philippines for years because I had a misconception about that part of the world. But now - after 16 trips to the Phils - I kick myself for not going 20 years sooner. The natural wonders there are amazing. And the people are forever tolerant and accommodating. But one thing I've learnt from my travels in the Philippines and Thailand is to treat the locals the way you would expect to be treated yourself. They may have less than you have...not speak perfect english...and the sights, sounds and smells will not be what you're used to. But even the homeless person holding his/her hand out to you as you walk by is still a human being. And 50 pesos goes a long way for them. Love the Philippines.

Great update Chad!....You mentioned that White Tower is scheduled to open in 9mos...I hope...it opens by Mar 2025...I have been waiting for my unit....That area for freelance park you referenced....that is where the new high speed rail is going to run through. If you look behind the catwalk at SM you can see elevated tracks and the direction they are going. Construction on the train is not going to fast so far....Not sure if they are going to go over the catwalk or tear it down....but those owners at The Palace will not be happy if that does end up happening....Guess we are in the wait and see mode...

Great video chubs, 100% correct on blokes taking a trip to Philippines, SE Asia no matter on how "western culture" dictates you should look like or possess to enjoy the company of a beautiful young woman. I met my future wife in 1991 at the Owls Nest bar (same location as now) and will celebrate our 33td anniversary May 2025. It honestly was the best decision I have ever made. You are right in thinking a train track used to run across Fields Ave where the vacant block/fruit sellers are, I tripped on it in the rain one night 89 or 90 ! A couple of other bars that have been in same place for decades are Sky Trax and Champagne........La Bamba used to be the Hobo Bar, it had the coldest beer and best dunny in A.C. 😜

Hi Chubs, my first time in the PI in 84 was with 7 mates from our local pub and we certainly played up a lot, after that we would go twice a year and eventually I would go alone and met my wife in 89 and the rest is history 😅That train line was the old checkpoint where the jeepney terminal was and there was a lot of sari sari stores and bbq stalls along the track. I first started going to se Asia because the place I worked at would only give me extended time off in January or February and I wanted to go somewhere warm. If I was lucky I would get4 weeks off but most years only3 which always made feel like I was on the run because of the time you lose flying over the pacific. As far as relationships go I would meet more women if I was not looking for a relationship than if I was looking for one.

I thank God that I determined years ago that I owed it to myself to make myself just as happy as I made the effort to make everybody else around me happy. No one deserves to be miserable, and I believe the ONLY thing that should prevent someone from traveling is a lack of money. Outside of that, TRAVEL, and realize that the US is not the be all, end all. I have been in Thailand for the past few weeks and, for the first time in a very long time, I have started to get out and walk, and joined a gym. It was just several weeks ago that I was feeling like I was decaying, and now I am active and feel alive. Although I have been traveling consistently for the past 30 years, this is the first time I have actually thought about moving abroad.

@ So very true. I went through a terrible divorce back in the 90’s with 2 young children put in the middle. Till this day they’re not a part of my life. I came back from war in Iraq disabled, got divorced, moved to the Philippines cold turkey, bought a few bars on perimeter, found a much younger new wife, started a family all over again, now I’m 61 and waiting for our daughter to go off to college before we move back because my wife and I hate living in Leftist Taxachusetts. Sad because I gave 17 years active duty and all deployed to all gulf wars only to see this country go to shit. 🤷‍♂️
