Another great "Tool of the Day" leads to KC Tool Haul #10! Please note, the Stahlwille Screwdriver video I mention has been recorded, I just need to edit it...We are finally going to see how everything stacks up! That said, in this haul we pick up some super useful catalogs, a couple of power tool adapters from Wera (one of which we wind up fixing later in the video), another trick piece for Wiha's Ultra Driver, the giant, cross-hatched Knipex Linesman Pliers, NWS' Fantastico, and then after starting to close the video out I realized we forgot to cover some screwdrivers from Felo and Wiha...pretty good problem to have! As always, if you want to jump around, time stamps are down below!

I've had the Knipex 09-02-240 Lineman's pliers for over a year now, love em...the crosshatching works well. Just came across this channel today, in my suggested videos after watching 'GermanToolReviews' -- Subscribed..!!!

Cool video, yes Ive never seen many pairs of Lineman pliers in the UK. But I love my Knipex ones. Them NWS side cutters look interesting. l’ve only got a NWS control cabinet key, want to try some of there pairs. I like, the look of your Wiha heavy duty screwdrivers. I have Wera hit through screwdrivers really Impressed with them.

I just replaced my Knipex lineman's the day this video came out and went back to the klein dark side(the glow in the dark version at that, just cause i wanted the heavy duty type without the journeyman grip). I LOVED the Knipex at first.. I had the same type as you but standard grip and crimper. Im a commercial\industrial electrician so I use lineman's all day 6 days a week 52 weeks a year. The Knipex lasted me about 6 months before the slop in them stopped them from cutting 16 twisted pair cleanly(doing control work for a few months). They also flex pretty bad when lots of pressure is applied to them, allowing the blades to 'cam out' and overlap. So between the slop, flex, and worn blades they failed me much sooner than Klein's ever have. Bought them August 1 last year. I gotta say klein must be taking note from Knipex and be a little worried because ive never had klein linemans so smooth out of the box. Literally just like the Knipex. I usually have to use a little concrete dust to break in the Klein's in 10-15 minutes. Pretty sure these kleins have cross hatching as well. I still love Knipex cobras and diags, and don't see moving away from their 10" dikes. For me though, Klein's last about 3 times longer than Knipex so they are still king of the linemans in my world. They are pretty much one of the only klein tools I have left besides nutdrivers and some odds and ends. ET

Great insights! I'm so accustomed to using Kleins that I'm still having trouble with these handles always falling down on me. I haven't gotten to use them long enough to make a valid judgment, but will see if I experience the same issues you describe. My plan is to take these to work so I can use them more and see how they last.

Interesting, I've been through 5 Klein's then I got a Knipex pair and they've lasted for the last 7 years. I'll never go back to Klein.

The jaw doesn't close all the way on purpose to prevent you from damaging wire

Linemans pliers are not made to close all the way to keep them from crushing copper wire.

There's a reason for the space in the jaw, it's so it doesn't crush the wire

Hey buddy you can get a really good price on the german amazon site on the individual wrenches, wera's hold function socket sets are like half the price on that site. The hazet catalog reminded me of Richard Scary on the front of it. Hey im gonna be taking the EFI outa my truck this weekend and going to a weber 38/38 with a Offenhauser manifold! So do you make you're own braided brake lines and other lines? Lets see a shop tour! A livestream would be cool to do with you sometime, we would have all kinds of things to talk about =) yeah don't think that bit got pressed in all the way. Nice nws pliers, I like their grips but ive heard they're kinda mid grade for quality in the german spectrum.

Oh dang, I've been busy! How did the Offenhauser swap go? That catalog does look like that, lol. Yep, being into Mopars you can't just go buy premade stuff, so I have to do it by hand. It isn't hard, well it is, but it can be done. AN lines are a pain without expensive tools. The shop doesn't have WiFi so I'm not sure how it would do.

As a lifelong electrician, Linesman pliers aren’t supposed to have the jaws close flat. Those are my favorite foreign made Linesman’s.

i bought knipex combination pliers, and there is s thin gap between blades. does that mean its issue? and i wasn't expecting from knipex. would you explain why is that
@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars 5 жыл бұрын
Nope no issue. With their combination pliers they prioritize the cutting, and since those need to hit flush, the gripping jaws up top have a slight gap. The only issue would be if you bought them wanting to hold something incredibly thin, and if thta is the case, you might drop down a size and get dedicated needle nose pliers (snipe nose). If you are only going to be grabbing pins, lugs, and fasteners on occasion that end gap will be nothing more than something that might annoy you visually, lol...I'm kind of the same way actually.
@AsBi1
@AsBi1 5 жыл бұрын
@@lonestarmopars i think u didn't get my point. I am talking about the gap between cutters. Not the gap in jaws which is normal i know. Here the cutters are not touching each other. Upper part is touching below that is a thin like of gap which looks like cutters are not straight may be.
@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars 5 жыл бұрын
@@AsBi1 If they are regular combination pliers the gap might be a concern...I'd contact Knipex.
