Sweet setups. The larger stove looks like it could heat my house. Of interest, I was part of the design team for that school.

Funny, I’ve been watching build videos wondering why people don’t flip the cans over and retain the handles for carrying. In the case of the 40mm... handles on the bottom which allows you to bring the door up and have a larger grate on the bottom just makes sense. Good job thinking out of the box! I ordered a Fat 50 and a 40 mm because I could not decide on size. I’m going to use the stove for pulk sled camping. I like the idea of more and longer wood with less loading for longer sleep time. I’m going to make both. The 40 would work better in elk hunts where camp is not as mobile and sleep time is a premium. But it is heavier. I’ll have to make and test both. The fat 50 may be the best-lighter option for pulk sled camping.

Hey Brother, thanks for sharing your thought and information with us. I have a suggestion for your stove flue pipe which is the main weight on your stove. I suggest instead of using a titanium pipe, use a flexible flue pipe which can be retractable and it is flexible can fit in your stove and also very lightweight. so in case you camp on uneven ground, that flexible flue pipe can easily find it's way out of the tent. cheers.

You can add holes to the side, then a secondary burn can create a clean burn like a wood gas stove. :)

Hey brother, looks like your stove needs a damper in the pipe to reduce the heat loss out of the chimney, and slow your burn time reducing the amount of wood you use, and will make that stove absolutely radiate heat

Also, what will you do without a skirt during the winter time? Presumably use snow around, which would then be a follow up question, what about melting?
@Lonewolfwildcamping
@Lonewolfwildcamping 4 жыл бұрын
Good question. I never use snow skirts with a stove. It uses up all the oxygen creating a dangerous living space in small shelters.

Hi lone wolf how do you put the chimney hole in the ammo crates?
@Lonewolfwildcamping
@Lonewolfwildcamping 4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, so I took the ammo box to a muffler shop. I had them weld on a short piece of pipe to the box then cut the hole using a torch. I suppose using a hole saw then welding would work as well. Good luck 😀🔥
