No actually, the great Muir teams with Obea Moore ran 3:08 at Penn in the late 90s. Henry Thomas's Hawthorne team set the national record in 1985 at the Texas Relays

Calabar ran 3:03 at the Penn relays.

@@paulb8667 yeah with three guys who turned 20 later that year. Christopher Taylor was legit but he was 18/19 and was considered a jr in high school. Imagine if more US team had a the commonwealth school eligibility.

This coming year should be a classic with TC Williams and the Lyle brothers who can run 45s and Calebar's Chris Taylor so long as TC can bring a solid 4th person to the table. This year in the final the 3 leg came up a little short for TC running 52.2 with other team mates running 50.1, 45.2 and 46.2.. you could see he was trying the stage was too big or maybe he was just not ready to run only he and the coach knows. If TC can get the starter to run under 49 and the 3rd leg run a 49 it should be race for the ages. I am sure Calebar, St Jago and the rest of Jamaica will come loaded.
@13NJJACK8 жыл бұрын
+Raymond Greenwood I agree.If TC can get a decent 3rd leg,should be a great finish.
@kevinlempfert49888 жыл бұрын
They ran a 3:13.55 but that was still fast. They hand pick the best talent in the Jamaica schools. That's why the same schools are always fast every year.
@kevinlempfert49888 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Lempfert if we're able to pick up 2 all star racers from a different school, then I'd take Michael Norman, who runs a 45.19 400 and freshman sensation tyrese cooper who ran a 45.94. Match them up with lyles brothers and they would unstoppable
@raymondgreenwood18 жыл бұрын
Kevin Lempfert I don't know I think I would go with Keshun Reed he has beaten Cooper head to head.. Either way you can't go wrong. There has been some really fast kids coming up over the past years

I love watching the Jamaican teams run at the Penns, but in my opinion the rules need to be changed because the Jamaican teams seem to be older than the U.S. High school runners....

Look I been coaching for 20+ years and the truth need to be told. Have you guys ever wondered how the jamaicans are so great in the 400 dominant every yr dominant in the 4or but when they turn pro in that event you hear nothing from them at all I'll tell you they have 2 extra yrs of high school most of them are grown men who aren't required to prove age when they come here to compete against real kids 15,16,17&18 yr olds most of them kids are 20 and above with a few exceptions like Chris taylor who I've known since he was 6 yrs old very good friends with his step dad. The 2and and anchor legs for st jago in this race are 21yrs old AND THATS A FACT 100% our kids over here are the right age and if there great in an event most of the time they even better at the next level those kids all running 46 or better but just drop off the face of the earth after high school....WHY?BECAUSE THE LEVEL OF THE PLAYING FIELD IS EQUAL LOL
@paulb86673 жыл бұрын
That is not true. Champs (the high school track finals) in Jamaica the oldest age group is 16-18.
@paulb86673 жыл бұрын
Btw, if you look at the 4 X 400 at the Olympics and worlds Jamaica usually medals. Look at the 4 x 100 and see who wins the most medals. Check the world records for the men's 100, 200 and 4 x100. An island of fewer than 3 million people is a sprint factory. The USA has over 300 million people the playing field is not level and Jamaica still kicks the USA ass in the sprints.
@fasttrackcam3 жыл бұрын
Pure lies. Yohan Blake who anchored for St. Jago was 17year old at the time. He had another year in high school after this and went pro instead. He went on to become the youngest ever 100m world champion at age 21. He is also the 2nd fastest man ever. Stop trying to deceive people.

apparantly they built the inner lanes AFTER the outer ones so they are a shorter distance, if you start there you have to start behind the starting line, and instead of the 2nd leg cutting in to lane one, they have to cut out to lane 4 (lane 4 was the original lane 1 before they made the inner 3 lanes)
@mvdiablo16 жыл бұрын
How do you win in lane 9?? I don't get that at all. Long Beach Poly is the real deal.
