Best golf Ollympic event ideas: Long drive Scramble and or best ball (2 or 4 man mixed with male and female) Rider cup style event A target based format centered around a closest to the pin. (maybe a combined score of 100, 150, and 200 yards)

I’d like target shoot outs like on the old tiger woods video games. Have so many targets at varying length and have an average proximity to the hole. Plus long driver. I personally don’t think the traditional format should be in the olympics.

That’s like saying that your tennis racket needs to be manufactured in the same country you’re from. The golfers are being invited, not the caddies, yes they’re important but they’re just happy to work alongside their golfers.

Golf equivalent of archery and shooting, with say 100yards to a green marked out like an archery target. Same format with player vs player etc. … long drive … similar concept but with an archery target a bit like the taylor made driving range segment where they had pros trying to smash windows in a 3x3 grid. Make that a points based target and you’d have a fun event. For me, having golf as a 4 round event like a normal tournament, just seems off to me and has little interest.

Olympics has always been track and field till past few decades . We have to draw line somewhere or there could be over a 100 events .

I love golf , but I couldnt care less about golf at the Olympics, there is far too many action packed fast paced sports, I have said for years it should be long drive there, its so exciting, energetic and fast paced, in one smaller location for stands and lights etc as you say. Its way more fun for non golfers to watch aswell due to the excitement!

If Dana white can for a slap fighting sport I don’t see why long drive couldn’t be a sport but Olympics just seems like a stretch until video gaming is an Olympic sport I don’t see it

I could see it if it was more skill based and less luck based. Do a cumulative scoring. 6 shots, add up the yardage of all the shots that are within the field. One good, lucky hit should not win. I watched one women's long drive event where one person hit 4 shots in the field all around 300 yards, and lost when the other woman hit only one shot in the field that was only a few yards farther....in golf, one good shot doesn't win if the other shots are trouble. It takes consistent skill for a reason. Could you imagine a golfer hitting horrible drives 3 putting, chunking, and then winning with one shot over someone who consistently plays well?

I haven't watched any other thing butt golf both men's and women's other than that I decided not to watch it after that opening day debacle of a performance by the commission for the Olympics

Hockey shuts its season down for 2 weeks during Olympic years so why doesn't golf do the same and then you could play various formats during the 2 week Olympic break.

Doesn’t really matter, only three players from each country go to the Olympics and that leaves plenty of players to compete in the Wyndham

@@DylanSorgenti for now but expanding the field, mixed event etc. would make it more watchable in my opinion.
