DESCRIPTION
The 2 1/2 hour version can be found here:
• 2 1/2 Hour Long Ek Ong...
This meditation has been taught by Yogi Ji in 1969.
To my knowledge, no video has been made where he describes the technique in the finest detail.
Therefore, it not unusual to notice several variations in the way this meditation is taught and practiced by the different teachers.
There is also an evidence; we all have different shapes, different experience of the practice therefore the techniques have to be individually adapted to who we are at this very moment.
A student with a large belly, may not be able to apply the locks with the same strength than another one who can roll on his stomach in bow pose for 3 minutes practicing the breath of fire.
Depending on your physical abilities, this meditation will be practiced with more or less strength.
What is important is to practice it, one way or the other, explore the various way the different teachers teach it and find the way that works for you.
If you are overweight, a more gentle approach with shorter projection of the sound could be more appropriate as a large belly can affect the lung capacity, the diaphragm lacking room to lower during the inhalation. Plus it may be impossible to practice Uddhiyana bandha with a large belly.
What I show in this video will suit more people looking like in the picture with a good control of the bandhas.
Regarding the bandhas, some will keep the mulband constantly during the all length of the meditation, some will keep it until the 'HEY' and release it after “GURU'. Some will do it a different way.
In this video, I mention to release the root lock at the end of the “Kar”, during the second full inhalation, as I found we can have much more power that way to project the energy into the chest, above the diaphragm during the “Sat”, instead of having to keep the mulband tight all the time.
I have to mention that the way I tight the mulband is not gentle. It's a lock, an airtight one. Therefore it's quite challenging to keep this lock for 7 minutes in a row, even more 11 minutes, 31 minutes or 150 minutes. I'm very much in a awe toward those who can achieve that.
If you can, that should be a great experience for you. Personally I teach only what I can achieve and my mulband loose strength if I can't relax it, while it gain strength when I play with the energy by opening and closing it successively.
Practicing is the key to find what works for you. Experiment, don't let your mind prevent you to practice because a technique is taught this way or that way. Initiate yourself because no one will do it for you.
May this technique bless you with its secrets.

@@sirishabadsingh Sat Naam Siri Shabd Sing and thank you again for you answer. I read the description and if I understand correctly: - I inhale deeply, and applying my Bandhas I say a short and strong EK - ONG and KAR wich must have the same duration but are saying during exhalation ? - Then I inhale and day SAT - Exhale and I say a long NAM - Inhale SIRI - Exhale WAHE GURU I don’t know if I well understand the breathing, while it’s clear to me how to apply Bandhas. Thank You great Teacher for your help. Bringing Kundalini in my life as been a great and magic help to me 🙏

@@elibet6728 - You inhale deep - at the end of the inhalation you project the sound EK while contracting perineum. - keep perineum contracted and vibrate ONG while contracting genitals (plus perineum) - 10 second later, vibrate KAR pulling the navel in (perineum and genitals still contracted) - now you don't have anymore air in your lungs from the first deep inhalation - You inhale deep again, fully, while relaxing the perineum, genitals and navel - Keep the air in and project the sound SAT while pulling the Mulbandh (contracting perineum, genitals and navel) - Vibrate the sound NAAM, applying diaphragm lock, keeping the Mulbandh and applying the neck lock gently - at the end of your NAAM, vibrate the sound SIRI at the 3rd eye while keeping Mulbandh, diaphragm lock and gentle neck lock - now take a short inhalation to fill the chest (NOT going deep like in long and deep breathing) while keeping all bandhas locked - project all the energy accumulated so far through the top of the skull while projecting the sound Wha / Vha followed by HEY GURU while relaxing all bandhas and letting energy radiates down in your aura - you collect (inhale) this energy back when inhaling deep for the next round. Let me know if you are unsure about something 🙏

This is a very well-done explanation using an excellent combination of sound, video, and text! Thank you for this! I also appreciate how you noted that different teachers have taught/will teach it in subtly different ways. My teacher taught me to release root lock while chanting Naam and vibrating at the fifth chakra, and gave as a rationale that the 5th chakra, correlating to space or ether, begins to transcend the physical plane and so therefore the release of the locks is appropriate here.

Sat Naam Narayan Singh Thanks for taking the time to share your appreciation and comment. I really appreciate when someone goes deep trying to figure out things. We teachers can only reflect what Yogi Bhajan taught us in the first place and we try sticking to that. In Kundalini Yoga, it’s good to take classes with many teachers as possible with teachers who have studied directly with Yogi Bhajan to have the closest to the source information and practice. Now even amongst those closest Yogi Ji’s students you will find different interpretations of the same techniques. Also Yogi Ji taught the same things sometimes differently. We receive any teaching only through the colored glass of our mind. To open parentheses, when you say “My teacher”, in KY we don’t have a teacher that we own really. We learn the technique from Yogi Bhajan that is now transmitted through various teachers. I personally would call Guru Dev “My Teacher” but I understand what you mean as we, most of the time in the beginning, identify Guru Dev with the instructor we learn from. Having said that, what your teacher says make sense although I have never heard about releasing the root lock on the “Naam”. We can only apprehend a technique and the effects it produce from the perspective we have. When 2 ants talk about their encounter with an elephant and describe the long thing that come out it, they may not agree on the topic depending on the place they looked at it, be it from the front, the back or underneath the elephant. There is no one fix truth but I believe it’s important to start with what Yogi Ji taught us first, practice as much as possible until the teacher in us awaken and teach us directly how to practice. And that may also change with time and circumstances. Gurucharan Singh who is one of the oldest and closest student of Yogi Ji teaches this technique by keeping the root lock tight all the time and even a bit tighter on the “Guru”. You can listen to it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoDZnnmolN91na8 @ 13’ 20” What he says is most probably the closest explanation Yogi Ji gave to his students. My experience is slightly different and it works for me. Ideally also I should raise the pitch of the mantra more than what we hear on my video, this to activate the highest centers more effectively. I had to adapt that as it’s not sustainable for me to hold such high pitch - as taught by Yogi Bhajan and Gurucharan Singh - for an extended period of time. So I rather adapt the technique to my limitation and practice it steadily for 31” or 2.5 hour instead of producing the correct high pitch that I would only hold for a couple of minutes before I lose my voice. The practice will unlock the trapped Teacher in us, even if we do not practice 100% perfect at the beginning, the practice will teach us the correct way that will work for us, even if it’s slightly different from what we have been taught. Experience is the key and rigid thinking the lock that will prevent the growth of our soul. Thanks again for your feedback. May you always be inspired to search as those who search, find out.

@sirishabadsingh
@sirishabadsingh 5 жыл бұрын
Sat Naam P Gu, you are welcome. When you work Uddiyana Bandh on its own, you apply it with empty lungs as you focus first at the lifting of the organs / diaphragm, than on the energy. During the Long Ek Ong Kar, the lungs are full before the “Sat” but you have to exhale to produce the sound “Sat” and that’s where you apply Mul and Uddiyana Bhanda. Here you focus more at lifting the energy up on the “Sat” although the physical anatomy will also lift but not as intensely as during just an Uddiyana Bandh practice on its own. Try this way and let me know if you got this point.

I'm wondering, rather than the idea of ascending to merge with "God," the idea of "Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad" points to the idea that God "descends" and energizes us to produce the transformation. In other words, it is what the Ek "does" in us that is what is fundamental, and our "efforts" are actually responses to the Sat Naam that reaches through us as Gur Prasad. It would seem like otherwise it would be impossible to ever truly surrender. Does that make any sense?

Could the point you make be rephrased like this: “if everything depend on the Lord’s Will, what is the point to try to make any efforts in order to reach Him?" If I’m sure I got what you mean right, I would feel more confident trying to offer my understanding if that could help you.
@joshuaschooping6227

@@sirishabadsingh Thanks for asking for clarification. I'm not suggesting a "no effort" approach or any kind of fatalism. Rather, I'm seeing that it is God who is energizing us in our calling to Him. He is reaching out to us, and thus our efforts originate in His grace. That's what those verses from Gurbani seem to suggest about the nature of our pursuit of God. We are not the origin of our pursuit of God, but actually responding to His initial, initiating, and gracious operation in us. God is working on and in and through us as a prior condition to our seeking Him. Thus we can see our efforts as not from ourselves as if we're trying to reach out to an absent God, but instead as objects of God's "efforts," so to speak, to illuminate His creature. The Naam flows through, interpenetrates, and energizes all, thus we don't need to set up a "ladder" to heaven, so to speak, during Morning Call, but rather experience God's gracious energy moving us to Call in response to His presence. This perspective then would be distinct from one which is ever solving the "problem" of His absence which then must be solved by erecting a ladder of effort to "reach" Him, an approach which would seem to set one's yoga up as a hamster wheel of ascent and performance rather than surrender and love. Thus Gurbani seems to point to God's gracious operation in moving one to call, and so japa is not rightly conceived as "my" effort, but His action energizing my will.

I can feel the same as you describe, that is we are guided by His Will, be it to do a Laya Yoga meditation, reading ancient sacred scriptures, researching and processing thoughts without being able to stop or standing on our head watching the flame of a candle dancing. I see in all these examples an impetus from “God” to guide us toward the higher consciousness that will give us a true image of who we are and what we are made of. My understanding is that if our quest and longing are sincere and have in them glimpses of devotion, humility, service, prayer, meditation and respect for all creation, the soul will gradually purify to let us see the reality as it is and not only through our mind patterns, traumas, flaws, vices and lives long karma, whatever the path we are following. The ways to purification are necessarily varied as “we” (the Gurmukhs) are varied with different requirements according to our own makeup. We are in the Dark Age where ignorance prevail. If it is God’s Will, we will find the answers to our questions, keep our purification until our soul becomes clear and our True Self revealed. That will takes times though but if we could follow the signs we receive from the Higher Worlds, we would not have wasted our time on earth. Our soul is a “Work in Progress”. When on this path consciously, all judgments and fixed ideas becomes a hindrance. The Naam is constantly moving and evolving, the messages arrives constantly. We have to catch up or be left behind.

i can do that now suddenly, but it raises lit sexual energy so i cant do that long as i want. Start to feel like yoga perhaps is for older peoples who have less life force. Also chin lock fully to chest gives better effect. dont know why they dont do that in 3ho description

Are you attending Kundalini Yoga classes or do you practice on your own?

@@testsubject5029 A work you may want to address in this lifetime. That's your energy. We only have one energy taking different colours at different times. In a KY class, you follow a specific pattern to establish protections and support from the invisible world that take care of everything. We have being given the opportunity to incarnate on this earthly plan. It's up to us to use it to explore and master our energy.

its true. i would like to keep energy upwards, but body for some reason wants opposite. Fortunally it doesnt create problems and i know just saying it now, something near future probably happens lol. its just nature of life. it always tests us

@@testsubject5029 What we would like or not like will not change the way energy flow. Try to keep the sun high in the sky for 24 hours, try maintaining the sea at high tide forever and the summer season for 12 months. We have to be realistic in our expectations and find our ways to deal with nature's laws.

When did you start taking KY classes?

thank you for the quick reply. The thing is i been doing practises and kriyas over ten years. At first i felt that kind of uncomfortable feeling when i did sodarshan chacra kriya. My body can do it long time, but because of that odd sensation, i have to stop quickly. And now i noticed i get that same feeling with this laya yoga technique. although at 3ho.org site under description they dont mention anything about these locks and this is what makes the difference for me. If my navel needs to be pulled inside while chanting - it happens with me. It doesnt make any sense and i really dont know what is reason for it that i cannot do these meditations :(

@@testsubject5029 What is your instructor saying about that? You may have some internal organ block that holistic therapeutic massage could well ease. In the mean time, avoid pulling the navel while keeping working the rest of the locks if that help. You have to discover how to find your comfort even with your limitation and pay attention to this limitation that says something to you. There is always a way through every block.

i asked one famous guru once who was student of yogi bhajan and even he didnt had a clue whats wrong, but he brought out basically same scenarium which i thought and you also describe. its only logical explanation, but im not sure about therapeutic massage, not only i dont know where to find one, but they can mess up your energy system damaging way also... But doing mulabandha lock is not doing any help either, because this is where my problem quite possible is, because it creates too much sexual energy for me. Over the years it has been went better, but later hours at morning it is too much... He told my nerves get conflicted,but didnt had answer how i can balance it.. Its been so many years and still i cannot tackle it. i have tried massage myself, but its no use. My body is telling me something and it doesnt want me to meditate. its not logical at all. Can Ek ong kar without locks still benefit me same way ?? or even perhaps mentally chanting.. ofcourse im able to chant out loud too, but i have always wondered do they have same effect when you whisper or chant mentally always?

@@testsubject5029 You have at least 2 possibilities here: If it’s time for you to address and work on this issue, that will be a life changing and tremendous empowering growth experience. That will become your priority and give a new direction to your life. If the time has not come for you to address this issue, then you have to compose with it. Find out what you can practice without creating too much disturbances in you, not practising the bandhas, not chanting loud, not chanting at all. Different techniques do not produce the same effects but they all produce an effect. It’s up to you to try them and find which one benefits you at this moment.
