Long Gui kill WORLD RECORD LOW STATS no shroud one stagger FF XIII in HD

Vanille 1216/1497, Sazh 853/812, Lightning 1457/1415
Vanille is only a lvl 2 commando, no faithra, no shroud, minimal accessories. I mixed it up and had Lightning use enthunder cuz Sazh just stands around.
As if I even needed to emphasize the dominance of the vanille death method. So I'm calling it now.. This is the world record. No one can even come close. The next closest is my own with 300 more attack power. Closest I've seen from anyone else is more than 1000 attack points out.
Sazh was useless in this fight. If Hope didn't have such a high magic stat, I would have used him instead.

@starbury50 Death hits such high figures because it's really powerful. If you increase the stagger gauge to 999%, get faithra and deshell going and then switch to cerberus (preferably with level five Commandoes) just before Death hits you might get 999,999. The more Commandoes the better because their level ability greatly increases damage dealt by all characters. With three level fives I think that damage is x3.375 but I'm not certain. Anyway I hope this helps.

Sazh is weak but he is really useful. Sazh, fang, and snow take down the young dragon turtles(shaolong guis) like they are nothing with daze spam. He has access to the main synergist spells, he also has all the main sab spells like poison and slow, which is incredibly useful for taking down the long gui shown in this video. You can use the same strat vanille used but also apply slow which slows down the turtle so it stays down longer, and you can manually buff all you party member with enfire(only hope, sazh,light has it) without needing to apply imperil which can be a hassle. I was actually surprised because I never intended to use him(wanted snow,fang,vanille) but ended up with him in my party by the end of the game because of how versatile he is. I have also heard good things of his strenght build which lowers his hp but gives him 2350 strenght, which is as almost as much as light, snow(2400+), and his blitz doing massive damage. In fact it is not his stats which make him shitty but his animations which are incredibly slow, he takes 7 seconds to complete his bar compared to the fastest snow which takes 3.5.

when fighting Long Gui if hes poisoned you deal a severe amount of damage. it can only be poisoned however if its faceplanted. when in gestalt mode the eidolon for some reason keeps the Long Gui (or any of the large oretoise for that matter) from getting back up and by default it chooses the top option on the gestalt screen. in Van's case thats 1 point only, it makes the duration last longer so the poison can stay on a lot longer. this prevents the turtle from getting up after too.

@Forlins91 casting poison on an enemy,and inflicting it, while they are already poisoned resets the time in which the status effect ends, so constantly casting it even though the Long Gui is already inflicted with poison keeps it poisoned throughout the battle. Meaning the enemies health is constantly being drained throughout the fight

@FifaScythi Did you reset the area? You have to leave/reenter, teleport away and back in, or save and reload the game in order for them to become Guis. There's also no special cutscene or animation, they just appear the next time you enter in place of the 'toises.

@wildperson I am pretty sure you are talking about adamantoises. They looks like Long Gui but they are far weaker. Long gui has more powerful attacks, three times hp and immune to the sudden death effect of Death spell.

@progamer2009 No it's not. Its the Circle of Cie'th stones near the entrance to the Ochu area. Mission 56 to 62. You have to complete all of it. After that, Shaolong Guis and Long Guis take the place of Adamantoise and Adamancheids. Finishing Mission 63 (Adamantoise) just gives you a Genji Glove then Gold Nuggets afterwards.

@NANOFORGE this is the trick. Summon time does not count in the down time for long gui. This guy summoned and poisoned long gui. Then he entered gestalt mode only use hecatoncheir's 1 charge skill. This could let poison take in effect for a extremely long time and do a lot damage(more than half of long gui's hp).

@13ofus my characters had 1k hp less than yours. same party - light-hope-fang. do this: 1. start with med-syn-sab. keep spamming cura. 2. once buffs and debuffs are in place, switch to rav-rav-com. if hp goes low, switch to rav-med-com 3. when hes staggered, use com-rav-com, switch to com-med-com. 4. repeat - if he hurts you too much, swith to med-med-sen. dont worry if he takes your buffs off. 5. whack him and hope to god he doesnt insta-ko your leader. retry if he does.

@FifaScythi With maxed out characters and tier1 weapons, my target time was literally 20 minutes. The poison will work it's magic in 9-12 for a five-star. Vanille you just want as the leader so you can spam poison with a malboro wand. Fang can debuff him, and snow can slow him. (Although, I still prefer to forget the slow and stick with lightning since she's awesome.) Sometimes he'll use wicked whirl before you get poison on him, just switch to the tri-sentinel and then back to number 2.

@JungleFreak07 Well, you're definitely mistaken. I think you're talking about the Adamtortoise. Because the death skill does not work on a Long gui. Unless your death does over 10 mill damage or you hacked, I highly doubt it.

11 years late to answer this, but.... The reason for switching paradigms like they did is because, as long as you have 1 segment filled, the entire bar will be full when the roles swap

@FifaScythi Yeah, that wicked whirl ignores all resistance meaning belts, protect(ra), shell(ra), armlets, all that doesn't work in lowering the damage. The only thing that will lower the damage is being in the sentinel role. AND it does enough damage to kill just about every character (except maybe Snow) when they're not a sentinel. You're gunna need to spend the like 24k points on getting sentinel for Van. I know the gil situation, I'm trying to get the treasure hunter right now for platinum.

Not really xD Although for mission 64 there's an easy way to win it: Van/Fang/Snow(replace with lightning if he doesn't have med) sab/sab/sab sab/med/med sen/sen/sen med/syn/med Equip purely defense items and everyone with a T1Lv1 weapon. Use poison 5 times, switch to 2 if it doesn't stick and try again. Once it sticks go to 3 until he goes into trance. Switch to 4, heal/buff up, then switch to 1 before he comes out a trance to rinse and repeat for a 5star ~10min

Summon Hecaton. -> Cast all debuffs. -> Spam Death. You win. Casting other debuffs increases death's hit chance. There's also a weapon that improves Vanille's debuffing.

Vanille and her damn sibian summon... Does anyone know how much damage poison actually does? Is it a percent of their health or is it a set amount? Because at this stage you wouldn't think poison would be worth a crap if it was a set amount from the beginning of the game. Also, does it have any effect on the stagger?

Most of the idea here is the Poison method as Poison takes off a fixed percentage which is bigger when the enemy has higher health such as Long Gui's 16,200,000

@darkhawk155 When as a commando you cause more damagae to a staggered enemy, so what you wanna do right when you cast death, you switch to commando real fast and it does a shitload more damage. But you have to do the switch right before the actually hit though.

I think im going to try to poison and turtle the hits untill he gets down to half HP then use the summon/poison thing and drain all his HP. He doesnt go into the defensive mode when you summon. Thing I mainly need is Gil.. Its so hard to get in this game -_- (PS: Just beat Long Gui again. No drop. Thats 5 fights without a drop now. First fight I got a Trap.. Typical)

Death doesn't work on Long Gui. The reason why people use Death on it is because the damage (without Genji Glove) is more then 400.000 per hit if done right (Before Death hits use Cerberus). Adaman(tor)toise is NOT immuun to Death but those are easy compared to Long Gui. Even with max stats Long Gui is hard.

Great Strategy dude! But I'm curious about something. When I do Death with Vanille after everything you did, it only did around 200k damage. I'm just wondering if there's something I was doing wrong. He is usually inflicted with Poison and Imperil by the time I'm doing Death and I have the buffs that Sazh and Lightning can offer except for Enthunder.

I beat these guys differently. I change my party to Vanille/Lightning/Fang as SAB/SAB/SYN, Summon, cast Death (while Vanille has Sprint Shoes), wait for Haste to wear off, dismiss Eidolin, have Haste cast on Vanille, switch to SAB/SAB/SAB, then hope for the best. Other than the Sprint Shoes, I don't bother with accessories because they're a hassle to get right again and I'm mostly lazy. :/

Did you just get EXTREMELY lucky on it for not getting back up or is there a trick to keeping it on the ground. Since normally my Long Guis get back up after ~ 5 rounds or so, which means, if Death didn't instant-kill till then it's a restart fight.
