One thing: People tend to get fine hair confused with thin hair. Thin hair is usuallly referred to as over all amount of hair follicles. Fine hair is the actual strand of hair. You can have a LOT of hair follicles, but fine hair doesn't really show it as well because it's very delicate. One was to define if your hair is thick/medium or fine stranded is to take a strand from your brush and run between your fingers. If you can feel it, it's thick, if you can't, it's fine and if it's half and half, medium. I run between thick to medium strands and I think you do too Britt---but your hair is straight--I have a wavy texture will adds visual volume. Some people have baby fine hair, and that can appear to look sparse if you add a lot of weighing down products. Oils can actually really affect your hair type--if you have fine hair and use heavy conditioners, that will make your hair feel finer than it is. Glad my oil experience helped you Britt!! It was one of those 'omg!' moments that I realized either working out or at the barn and made a note to message you. HAHahahahah. Happy Thanksgiving! :D

I have seborrheic dermatitis (SD) as well. I use Nizoral 2% and it doesn't smell bad at all, on the contrary. Might be a good idea to try that one for your SD, Britt. It sucks sometimes, I know but finding a good medicated shampoo is really the best you can do for it. But if the Selsun Blue works for you, by all means, stick to what works for you!!!

I love your channel so much. I’ve really been trying to use your tips to grow my hair out. I trimmed about half an inch off of my hair a month or so ago, and it’s grown back out since then, but it looks much healthier than it usually does. My hair usually doesn’t grow very fast, but I’ve noticed that it looks much nicer since I’ve been doing what you’ve said.

Well, because it's winter and everyone asks about frizzy fly aways, they can be caused by using products with humectants in a dry weather (check the dew point, not the humidity). The humectants tend to suck out the moisture from your hair, much like they suck it from the air into the hair in high humidity. Maybe less of a problem for low porosity virgin hair, but if it's processed or has naturally high porosity, then that could be a cause. It helps to stop using humectants and use a silicone serum on damp hair, which will seal the moisture in, not just "stick it down: ;))

I've recently discovered this aloe vera gel by Nature Republic. It contains 92% aloe with no artificial colors and it smells so light and fresh. I think it's technically a moisturizer for the skin but I experimented with it as a gel as aloe is great for skin, hair, & consumed too! I distributed a bit between my palms and smoothed the hair on the crown on my head in a downward motion. When the gel air dried, my baby hairs also dried downward. I also feel as though it's helping to smooth the hair cuticle because my hair will look so shiny! And it doesn't leave the hair crunchy, dry, greasy, or filmy. It will feel as though I've put nothing into my hair! It's an inexpensive product and it lasts quite a while. My husband and I both use it for different reasons and I'm on my first jar still 3-4 months later. I already have a back up as well!

I went through that faze of frustration, but I chopped my hair and regretted it. I’m a firm believer in cutting it a little at a time. For instance, if you’re at tailbone, maybe cut to mid back length or bra strap length, that was you won’t have to learn all new hairstyles and you won’t regret getting such a drastic change. Trust me, it is only fun for a month or so... I chopped to chin and I’ve regretted it since. I am having fun growing again and luckily my hair is growing faster this time around.

Red Trix, i have long hair too at 52 and my mom drops hints (sometimes not so subtle, lol) I should cut it "maybe too bra strap length". It's about tailbone or a little longer. I've been told I don't look my age and my hair is in pretty good condition with only a couple stray grays here and there, so I figure I'm going to keep it this way until Father time makes it impossible, lol. .
@amixeblu7 жыл бұрын
Cinder Roxy, don't let anyone tell you how long or short your hair should be. It's all up to you. I am going naturally gray too. I am going gray like my dad with gray hairs (whites) sprinkled throughout without any thick streaks. He is in his 70s now and still 40% black haired.
@cinderroxy57387 жыл бұрын
Thank you Marleen for your reply :). I've been lucky, knock on wood with the graying. I only have a few strands. Kind of afraid to say that out loud, lol.

When you had bra strap length, how long did it take you to reach waist length?
@mpiraalfa4 жыл бұрын
I had waist length and I cut it bra strap length because my hair was really damageed... I was so sad but.... It grew sooooo fast... I cut it in April 2019 and now 2020 March my hair is hip length. So do it! Its very refreshing for hair and it does it grow faster.. I haven't cut it since then and I don't have so many split ends
@itzeldelacruz58514 жыл бұрын
@@mpiraalfa wow I kind did the same thing. I cut my hair bra length on December 25. It's now March 2020 and my hair has grown 3 inches 😊. I'm super proud because normally my hair grows really slow. You are inspiration of growing my hair to hip length :D

I really need advice with something over here. I have been trying to grow my hair for the last year. Well, actually I got rid of the last of my died hair and did damage control, because for a while back for some reason I believed that my natural hair does not need conditioner, so I would only wash it with shampoo and that's it. A lot of my hair broke or fell off (I also have seborrheic dermatitis). Even now, after 1 year of oiling, conditioning and really learning how to take care of my hair and scalp, I still have so many baby hairs. I guess about 50% of it is baby hairs. I do feel like they are getting longer and longer, but do those baby hairs eventually reach the length? I sometimes trim a bit of those fine ends of the baby hairs, but since it's like half of my head, I probably take care of less than 1%. I trim my hair every 3 months, so I'm good like that haha. My hair type is just like your's, Brit, so you are living my dream. Please help me with an answer and sorry for so much text. So will the baby hairs grow out or should I be realistic and cut my hair and start over?

I'm not sure if I asked you this before, but what are your thoughts on older women with hair your length? I'm 52 and my hair is a couple inches shorter than yours and pretty much the same color. Also, do you think you may continue to have long hair until your 40's and 50's or is that a "wait and see" kind of thing. Something tells me I've already asked, but can't remember what you said. lol

Does anyone know how I can avoid washing my hair when I workout? I usually workout pretty hard and my hair gets really sweaty. I used to only wash my air twice a week but now that I’ve started working out I have to wash multiple times a week. I’ve found my hair is getting a bit dry from this and I’d really like to find a way around it.
