Can’t believe he had to apologize at the beginning of the video. With cocktails there are ALWAYS different variations. Actually with food in general. You don’t like it, make your own. And if you’re quick to judge other people’s recipes then you obviously know how you like yours so why watch the video? 🙄 you are great, Steve! Thanks for the video!

great video Steve! there are so many small variations you can make in the recipe and it'd still be a long Island. I'm an American bartender, and I would make it exactly like this if I were at home making it for myself or friends. if I were at work I would make it in a hurricane glass... .5 oz vodka .5 oz gin .5 oz white rum .5 oz tequila blanco .5 oz triple sec fill nearly to brim with lemonade splash of coke its really going to depend on your bar/bartender's recipe. again, great video!

I make a lot of my own drinks at home now that bars aren't open/safe to hang out in, and my long islands always come out tasting way too strong and appear to look like just soda in a glass. Then, I went to an outdoor-seating bar last night and had a long island that looked exactly like the one you just made, and it was perfect!!! Definitely going to try and follow your method, next time I make one!

Out of every recipe I have tried, 1/2 oz of each spirit and 1 oz of sweet and sour has tasted the best. Most bars I have ordered LI's at serve it in a pint glass like the one you used to shake it in. More room for ice and also a little more coke. Of course a lemon wedge also, never seen a lime wedge.

Steve, Greetings from Philadelphia. Your videos and very interesting and informative. I appreciate you efforts. My question is...are all the people in your country as patient and polite as you? For instance - your kind explanation of how people complained about your previous Long Island Iced Tea recipe and how you would change it and make a do over as a result of their complaints. Being born and raised in Philly...not what I am used to hearing as a response to criticism. You are a good guy! Cheers.

I would love to see you do a video about a base drink and how adding different things to the base gives you different drinks. So, a black Russian to a white Russian (add 1/2 and 1/2) to a bulldog ( white Russian with coke) to a root beer float (bulldog with a galleano float). Then there is screwdriver, sloe screw, slow comfortable screw, etc. Manyore examples. The trick is to learn a few basic two item cocktails and build on them for a drink library.

For a simple to make and cheap version but yet very tasty I use equal portions coke & Nestea Lemon Iced tea and add whiskey or any alcohol of choice, usually 2 oz. shot and stir. It is surprisingly good. Vodka or tequila would probably due as well but I'm a rye whiskey drinker so that is what I go with. To change up my drinks a bit through the evening, instead of just a rye and coke I will also make a grapefruit and orange juice mix as well as my cheapo long island. I really can't bring myself to go buy 5 or 6 different types of liquor just to make one drink. Anyway, that gives me 3 different drinks at a reasonable price to alternate throughout the night. Or you could be like Amma and drink rye and water on ice for a 4th drink, but you really have to love rye to do that. Cheers & thanks for the recipe.

Amazing cocktail! Simple and yet stiff and tasty. This and Mai Thai are my 2 favourite cocktails.

Honestly I use a 2-1 ratio for my spirits to my lemon juice and simple syrup and I drop the measurement to .5 oz for the spirits and I garnish with an expressed lemon peel instead, it actually makes a massive difference instead of just being a garnish if you express the oils over the drink you can drink my long islands like absolute juice and won’t realize where your at 2 or 3 in loll and bonus points being from Long Island
