We begin our weeklong coverage from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in the wake of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump on Saturday at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump was shot in his right ear. One person in the crowd was killed, and two others critically injured. The shooter was killed at the scene after members of the Secret Service opened fire on him on a nearby roof. The Nation's national affairs correspondent John Nichols joins us in Milwaukee to detail the long history of political violence in the United States and says it may not prove as significant to the presidential election as many believe. "There is a tendency after a shooting like this to assume it's going to have a huge political impact - and it may. I'm not dismissing that. But what I will tell you is that there's history that suggests that the country is horrified, the country reacts with sympathy, but it doesn't necessarily say, 'Oh, well, we have to elect this wounded warrior or this wounded candidate.'"

Half of his cabinet either quite or was fired in disgrace, it leaked worse than any admin ever, a scary percent of them ended up as felons, usually for crimes they committed under Trump's direct orders. He did not hire the best people, and only made the swamp deeper. The only promise he kept was to the billionaires, he didn't build a wall or even a fence, he didn't get Mexico to pay for it, he didn't drain the swamp, he didn't fix the debt or deficit. In fact even discounting Vocid he added more to both than any prez in history including Biden. He didn't make us energy independent, that happened years ago under Obama; and solar/wind/green energy is the way forward for that anyway. He didn't make jobs, in fact he lost more than any prez in history. He inherited the good economy from Obama and coasted on it a while before running it into the ground. Just like Bush did with Clinton.

I happened to live in Glendale, a more "upper Middle Class/wealthy" suburb of Milwaukee and it was very far-removed from any Socialism that I was aware of. 1000% Reagan Youth in my High School. I tried my best in High School to get into Milwaukee, proper, to go out but I was restricted by extremely conservative people. My high school was so excellent, however, it sort of made up for everything else. Very high standard of education at Nicolet High School. When you say "Milwaukee' you are excluding the very influential suburban political supporters of extreme Conservative agenda.
