it is, but this is greenland halibut, a different species. atlantic halibut is a species that can be confused with greenland halibut if observed with an untrained eye.

in norwergian it is called Isgalt, latin : Macrourus berglax. its a type of grenadier it seems. unfortunately it doesnt go to human consumption due to "small and sceptical market" and ends up being ground down to animal feed :(

@@HeadbangMushroom usually the hook get pulled out becouse the line-hook get pulled thru a tiny opening usually between 2 pipes-rollers, just big enough for the hook,, but a few of those fishes, the round light brown ones cald BROSME. have tough bones and usually swallow the bait and the hook. so usually the thin rope between the main line and the hook break ORE the hook bends straight. in that case they retrieve most of the hooks when cutting the head of the fish.

on the greenland halibut we put out two lines, each with 5500 hooks, we start hauling approx 8 hrs after setting. depth is 650m outside the norwegian coast. we bleed out the fish onboard and put it in ice slush and are back to deliver it normally 24h within starting to haul. very short season, only 2 weeks. 20 tons of quota
