Sorry to bust your bubble, but no, he's not a hard-core gamer who died of a terminal illness. He's my ex-boyfriend. I started dating him right after he made that commercial. There was some contest sponsored by Pizza Hut where you entered your name and picture to get put in the commercial, and he was picked at random. He didnt even own a playstation while i knew him. He had just got out of a 2-year stint in prison for dealing cocaine. We lived together about a year and spent most of that time shooting heroin in a dope house in Washington D.C. Then he stole $3,000.00 from my mom, so I dumped him. I'm not sure what he's doing now, as I blocked him on Facebook, but I know he's been in and out of jail on drug charges and a hit and run where he almost killed someone. On the plus side, I've been clean from drugs ever since I dumped his sociopathic as*! (for real though, he's a sociopath; he doesnt experience legitimate human emotions; it's a psychiatric disorder). If you give me your e-mail, I will send you his full name so you can look him up on facebook if you don't believe me. It is a cool commercial though! ;) Show less REPLY

Dylans VitaReviews Yeah a tribute to him, but overall it's a tribute to all gamers. Look at the pictures on the ceiling.
@SkipSkopzz10 жыл бұрын
Dylans VitaReviews The name was a coincidence. The commercial was in production before the news of Michael Mamaril's death. You're correct when it comes to the story of him, but Sony never caught wind of it. They chose the name "Michael" as in you, the player. Search "PlayStation is Looking for a Few Good Gamers" and you can find from the PS Blog that it was a part of the Long Live Play campaign. 2:02 shows all the pictures. Why did they choose the name "Michael"? No one knows. There's no source that says it was Michael Mamaril, you'll only find people assuming that. Both the commercial and his death happen around 2011 and in return, it confused a couple of people. The name was just used as a tribute to the gamers. Seeing how he was a fan of Borderlands, he'd certainly count, just like any other who's named Michael (and is a gamer).
@pelipoika889 жыл бұрын
Tribute to gamers you mean
@SkipSkopzz9 жыл бұрын
pelipoika I think he meant players. PlayStation has a commercial called "This Is For The Players". Either way works, player or gamer. But he probably went with "Player" since PlayStation refers the gamers as players. That's just from the UK advertisements though.

First time I seen this commercial and I heard them say my name, I was like "Wait, what?!" Then it wasn't my picture the guy held up. xD Overall, this commercial gives me chills of epicness everytime.

1:25 even after all these years this part still makes me tear up. He sums up exactly how it felt for anyone at D-Day.

Except not really, 5000 guys died but 43,000 landed there. Also the patches on their shoulders say they’re in the 82nd airborne, but he’s saying they’re on the beach. Makes no sense
