It is very hard,not to like these guys. The more you watch them,the more you learn. You get the feeling they love what they do but they are open to learning even more. I think they just make it look much easier than it is. Continued success guys, stay safe.

When you realize there is an overly aggressive pig in the pins how do you handle it? I remember as a kid one of my classmates grew up on a pig farm. Her dad allowed our class to visit it for a field trip. While we were there one of the workers unfortunately had a ruff time in the shed with a known trouble maker. They got that pig out of there as fast as they could. Found out later that they had a really nice barbecue that weekend. That's how things were in the 70's. We knew it as a fact of life. 4-H had a big presence in our school back then.

Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and informative and enjoyable. I am new to your channel. By way of introduction I am an 80 year old Iowa farm boy from central Iowa. Love your content and the way you and dad handle the pigs. Been there done that but just on a small farm probably 25 pigs at a time is all. I happen to see the video where you talked about your barns and how they operate. I so enjoyed that I hooked up to you on you tube. Believe this is my second video of yours and my compliments to you and your dad for the way you operate and handle the pigs. I thought your loading went fairly smooth tonight and you got it done in good time. Nice you got your 15 pigs out for the locker plant. I have got to check out your meat sales and try some of your meat. Appreciate the way you voice over what is going on and explain things as you go. Looking forward to more of your videos. All for now. Thanks for everything. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

Always cooler, and the hogs seem to be "drowsy" in the wee hours of the day. Just in my limited experience with hogs. I'm sure Tork has a 1000X more than I do, and I really appreciate learning from a pro!

Livestock load better later in the day or night. Cooler Temps and less stress on the animals. Yes, they're stressed but not as much as when it's 90 degrees in the shade.

Processors dictate when you load. 24 hrs a day except weekends most of the year.

Question why you get shipments at night ?
@thislldofarm

Our load times are based on the dock times at the processing facility. If they have a 5am dock time and we’re 5 hours away, midnight loads.

Wife and I were wondering why only 300lbs? Have you ever let any go up to 500lbs? Looking up the largest hog was over 2500lbs back in the day. Just a curiosity question is all.
@nathanwaugh8039
@nathanwaugh8039 3 ай бұрын
Long answer short 300lbs is the weight that most u.s prcessing plants are designed to process. As pigs grow wider they also grow longer so if they get to heavy/long while they hang they can touch the flore or non-process machines and if that happines the whole animal has to be disposed of.
