We know we have not updated you all on the XJR as of late. This will give you an update of where we are on the car, and our plan with isolating the pesky purging issue under boost. Also we may have purchased a couple of goodies to go along with the build!

Thanks too you I ended up buying a 1998 Jag xj8 L 4.0 in white super excited to enjoy this car. It was super clean and well serviced. Just the bonnet locked up on me on the right side as I was purchasing the car but bought it anyways and not sure how to open it now

you may need two people, but maybe have one person pull the lever inside the car and the other try and jiggle the stuck side free? Best of luck

My 99 XJR is black with the same wheels. I have been thinking about doing the black out on my chrome too as it looks very good. I just saw some of the upper intercoolers on ebay for not crazy money. I am getting ready to do my timing chain service soon so wish me luck. I have the same problem with shops here not wanting to touch my car and the dealer is out of my price range. So I have learned to work on it myself the last 8 years. I do love my car though...

I thought my 2000 xjr had a bad supercharger intercooler but I started pulling it apart and turned out to really be a bad head gasket, I am doing an entire rebuild on the engine

Try to find OEM head gasket. Aftermarket ones are complete crap and waste of money, especially from Europarts brand.

Interesting find/theory that it could be the intercooler(s) leaking under boost. I hope that is the issue, and not the heads. Everyone on the x308 forum says a thicker intercooler is a waste. And that it will increase the engine temp, due to blocking airflow to the radiator. I don't know how true that is. Xjr 100's did come with the satin black trim around the windows. So technically, north America got the black trim as well

Chrome trim looks way better I think. I have seen EU-spec XJR and they don't look that impressive as those for US market. No chrome around the windows and no leaper on the hood.

i told you i was 99% sure it was the charge cooler, don't take the coolers off unhook the inlet and outlet and blow all the coolant out of the charge cooler get 2 1foot long hoses, go buy a universal coolant pressure testing kit jury rig the pressure pump and gaugeto your hoses pressure them up and watch for a pressure drop ,if its a crack that opens up with heat and boost pressure you can rev the engine and watch the pressure gauge go up as you rev , good luck , oh and copper fittings from home depot are your friend when joining your hose to the pressure tester
