But the eye is often still better in mixed environment. Cameras are very good in low light or bright light environment, but the eye tend to have better performance in low light situations with a few bright lights or vice versa. But you still can see sth better on a bright screen than next to a bright screen.

Bird avoidance might be an issue if operating in twilight/darkness; model ekranoplans operate extremely close to the surface. Even during the day other water users might not be able to avoid a speedy surface skimmer. An autonomous ekranoplan is something I'd love to see, but adding speed and spinning blades to the mix complicates matters considerably. Of course it depends on where and when it's flown.

@@MrCarlozan96 Since the hull is pretty much flat on the bottom, when the boat leans over (lists in boat terms) It pushes that side of the hull deeper into the water giving it more buoyancy on that side, while also raising the opposite side, thus lessening buoyancy there. @@nob0dy27_ Container ships dont typically use them, mainly for the reason is that they just arent effective for a ship that size. it's always funny when "experts" judge DIY projects like this... at the end it worked perfectly and most people couldn't even build a boat that's one tenth as good as this one. i'm very excited for future missions and will definitely stay tuned for more videos :D

FYI the raw_temp data is more likely a millivolt or microvolt reading from the sensor, you would need to convert that using whatever volts-degrees ratio is needed for that specific sensor.

Loved the video, When you were trying to hook it, the bow wave stops the boat from increasing speed regardless of how much power, due to it being a displacement hull. Truly inspiring video mate

"Redemption": translation - "Middle finger to all you snarky boat people." I believe I was one of those who made a humorous comment, but I consider myself royally flipped off. BTW, don't forget to set aside the first 10 bucks of your sponsorship money for your 520 tolls. Personally, I would have set the boat off from Mercer Island. But, you are the man!...

I would like to suggest not to say ampere hours but use watt hours, because, different system voltages make your data bit irrelevant, but when you talk about how much watts ar pulling and how much it will last in term of watt hours - that is pretty universal no matter what system voltage you have. Cool project tho! :)
@virtual812

Totally agree on principal, but sometimes you're stuck with the systems that are present. If the software is capable of calculating Wh in real time then it should be configured to do that.

if you end up doing a lake or river in Eastern Washington you would post a channel update on when and where because i have property by the Yakama river and would love to see the banana slug in person! i would suggest the Columbia river but i think the current might be a challenge if you go upstream but downstream it would do just fine. love the vids mate keep up the good work! so cool to see someone from Washington making some dope ass autonomous RC vehicles.

The thing that container boats, with a nearly flat bottom, let be stable are the proportions.. your vessel is around two times as high as it is wide.. you can see that the containervessles are usually as wide as tall or a bit wider.. that results in other problems (that they can’t drive along a side wave without rolling).. So if you build a second one, and I think you should.. it looks cool and I bet you can build a better boat next time! Look at directions of these container boats, since it is a pretty simple shape, if it has to less buoyancy make it longer (that also could help with your speed, and these weird jumping)
