Thanks so much for posting these great videos Falcon. I think you are by far the best long range guy on the interwebs. I really value your information and advice. Im at the beginning of a 7" build myself. Im not expecting (or even pursuing) results exactly like yours but your experience is REALLY helpful. I was going to build my own Li-ion packs with 18650 cells but I think I'll buy a couple of these Auline jobs. I would not be saving all that much money building my own, and your tests are showing these to be pretty great packs. Thanks again.

I’m no expert but I’ve been flying an Auline 6S 3000 for 1.5+ years and haven’t always treated it the best (mild freestyle with a 7”) and it’s still going strong. It’s the a 30A 18650 version that’s been out for quite some time.

So theoretically in 2P configuration you should have had 8000mAh, but in these tests it seemed like they were dead around 6,500mAh. I pull 8000mAh out of my DIY Molicel packs no problem. (Of course Molicel P42a are rated to 4200mAh per pack though, but still seems low here…) Nice video though, cheers man!

Did you calibrate your current meter using the same size battery and double checking the charger readings VS the OSD mAh used? I found calibration changed when flying with different size packs. I always calibrate by flying a full 6s2p pack start to finish. I get about 7500 from the 8400 of my P42A cells. Could be we just calibrate differently. I don't go for exactly correct, I try to get it to an even number just to the sake of easy math in my head while flying. I got 3670mAh out of a single pack on the bench. So 7320 mAh with a 5amp load. Maybe more like 7000 at 10 or 15 amps (per pack) when flying.
@GiantAntCowboy
@GiantAntCowboy Жыл бұрын
@@FalconRadFPV yea, I calibrate with mAh Used vs Charged. I generally error on the High Side to build a buffer, & also my results were probably draining below 3v… Those are likely the reasons. I actually need to build some new packs soon, years of abuse was definitely showing in the latest test flight… Li-Ion Cells are expensive in Norway though, like $10/pc… ugh.

I always calibrate my OSD mAh reading by flying a full 6s2p pack start to finish. I don't go for exactly correct, I try to get it to an even number just for the sake of easy math in my head while flying. I haven't changed it in well over a year. I got 3670mAh out of a single Auline A45 pack on the bench. So with 6s2p that's 7320 mAh with a 5amp load. But ya 6500 max when it's used for flying is maybe a bit low, but again that could be a slightly low calibration on my part. NOTE: I only get 4800 mAh out of my molicel P28A packs that are rated for 5600mAh (6s2p), and 7000mAh from P42A (6s2p) packs rated for 8400mAh. There is also a 65 - 70 gram weight savings to consider as well with the Auline A45 packs. What I'm really wondering is how they will hold in the long term, lifecycle / longevity.

Great test, I feel like you fly sometimes out of line of sight, like in some crevices. How do you manage that without losing signal?
@FalconRadFPV
@FalconRadFPV 3 ай бұрын
Oh I do lose signal. I'm just used to it and have learned to "fly through it" so to speak. Quick tip, if you have high rates it's more likely to give a bad stick input while video is out. Lower rates makes it easier to successfully "fly blind" for a few seconds. I only do that with analog, losing video on DJI is freaking scary, just blank or frozen for seconds....

I use either the rush solo or geprc maten vtx for my flights lately. The important part is the antennas, TrueRC singularity on the drone and TrueRC X2-air on your goggles, it's the best video can get without a ground station or annoying big antennas for lower frequencies.

Thanks for posting this test, battery is important for LR. Do you have any comment on the new iflight quad release Helion 10? Is it a gamechanger for LR as they claims?-
@FalconRadFPV
@FalconRadFPV Жыл бұрын
I don't know, the release video was cool though. It looks like a fairly regular 10" quad just with a top shell, like a lot of racing drones, toothpicks and tiny whoops use. So it carries the battery underneath. I prefer top mount myself for smooth flying. An underslung battery tends to give more of a tight racing drone flight feel. Maybe it's not as noticeable on a 10" drone though. My first thought is that it would need good damping to have nice crisp video. A 10" prop has much lower frequency vibrations than a 6" or 7" does. The lower the frequency of the vibrations the more it shows up in HD footage. That said I believe they have probably taken that into account in the design process I would think. But all you can do is damping. A 10" prop just creates much lower frequency vibrations, there is no way around that and tuning will be harder to get as good as a 7". I think the 10" thing is just pumping up more sales. It's hard to find something reasonable to fly that I can't do with one of my 7" drones. A 7" can go 10km out and back with much better vibrations to deal with, maybe you can go 15km out and back with a 10" but are you going to? Maybe once just to see if you can but you have to search for ever to find a place to do it. Most peaks around me are 4km to 7km out when flying from the valley floor. Blah, blah, anyway's it would be cool to have a 10" just because it's big and a little scary, haha.

If you're new to FPV the 5" or 6" will be a better choice. A 7" you'll likely break it fairly soon unless you are a super talented flyer. Almost everyone destroys their first quad as they learn to fly.

I did this test before. Lipo below 3.5V will become unstable and could cut off immediately.
@chrisbee5481
@chrisbee5481 Жыл бұрын
A lipo of same capacity as LiIon is just heavier. The lipo feels much better in the air, because it can deliver more current and has less voltage sag. Because a lipo weighs more and your flying style on lipo usually tends to be more agressive power, the lipo will probably have like 25% less flight time.
@chriscflint
@chriscflint Жыл бұрын
The reason I asked is if you had both on the quad and you needed a high throttle to go up fast the Lipo should take care of that but when cruising both work as a team? comments.@@chrisbee5481

It's an interesting idea but I don't think of any real benefit. The other two comments sum it up. The voltage levels won't match well and they'll be affected differently by cold and amp draw etc...
