Scoop dity I am 16, I just started running like 1 year ago, so I thought why not try 1 mile, started practicing did for 4 months and This was my best

Pandurang Gireesh well 5:52 for 16 is ok in jv but won’t take you anywhere in varsity races.Im 16 also but my time is 4:55.But anyone can change a 5:52 to a sub 5 with summer training.Stay consistent this summer and your mile time will change for the better

I regret I didn't go to an American University back in the days. At that time I would probably end up in Boston. They had some good traditions with Norwegian athletes. Bruce Lehane (passed away a few years ago) was the coach there. We were in touch. Today I would probably choose Portland or Eugene. North Arizona and BYU are also interesting.

What’s up with the benefits for faster paced long runs ? I be taking them kind of easy with about a 1-2 mile surge at the end. I had thought they were just for mileage in your legs but a lot of these top programs seem to be using them for essential workouts
@nberkel
@nberkel 4 жыл бұрын
Easy paced long runs are great for building aerobic endurance and getting your body used to longer time on feet. As you become more accustomed to that you build on that like anything else with long run tempos, long intervals, fartlek, etc.

How long before a run are you guys eating bagels? Feel like I'm not fueled well enough for long runs (10-12 miles), but don't want to make myself sick. Gels don't seem to be helping along the way much. Eating in prep the night before?
@lukejohnston1019
@lukejohnston1019 4 жыл бұрын
I usually take 1-2hrs prior, unless you’re out there for more than 100mins I wouldn’t worry about gels tbh
@qwentinkappelmann3464

You should be able to run 10-12 miles after eating a banana and 4 scoops of oatmeal, that's if you're morning running. Just look up energy pack snacks. And, the night before would just be carb loading. Like eating a bunch of pasta. I like to focus on energy & mineral rich food in the morning, lean protein and fiber for lunch; for snacking, mostly dried fruit, for supper like I said carb load for fat and energy storage.
