I was quite happy to have a review from a true professional someone who has to feel sequire using a part thats not just for competition but the main tool that you carry that all of the parts have to perform because your life and the lives of others is counting on it i only switched to striker fired pistols in the last decade mainly because of a certain amount of apprehension from a pre cocked extremely light pull but i was quite surprised how quickly i took to the striker fired pistol now I'm approaching another big chage at 60 yeaŕs old someone who doesn't have the time or money to be at the range everday for a person who didn't get alot of practive time i did quite well with regular iron sights goodgroupings ar a substantial distance my eye sight witch was always perfect is showing its age and since buying my new pdp pro that doesn't need to be routed on a machine it's all set up for these type of sights and i liked this model because anything that takes parts out of the equation plud keeps the dot lower making the need for cowitness sight plus alow me to çlear my line of sight just over the can so thank you for your very professional assessment of something that I've reàd about but have no hands on experiance with before making the actual purchase.

Thank you! One you get the hang of the dot you’ll enjoy it. It can be challenging at first. My biggest word of advice for transition, make sure your grip is ironclad. Your grip will allow you to see the dot. If you don’t see the dot, there is something wrong with your grip. I do suggest take a class with a vetted professional instructor that teaches RedDot. I offer classes but there are several great instructors out there. Good luck in your journey!

I’ve had mine for almost 2 months now. Love it! The only thing I would like is to have the option to dim. It does have the option to brighten under low light but not dim in any light. I’ve put about 300 rounds through it and the screws haven’t budged (15 inch pound of torque). And I haven’t turned it off since. Love the solar internal battery.
@americanpatriotdefense898810 ай бұрын
I agree. This was my biggest issue with the optic was not being able to dim the emitter. It was always bright enough, but there was times that I needed it to be a little less bright. I never turned any of my dots off. I just change the battery once a year if it requires a battery that is one good thing about the SCS no worries about a battery.

@blkpanther2k52 ай бұрын
You can absolutely adjust the brightness. It's temporary, and will revert back to the auto adjust, but it's possible. Shake awake seems a bit unneeded. Even IF my matter dies, with a minute or so it's back up and running in decent lighting. It naturally co-witnesses with the irons, so if you're training properly, waiting for it to charge isn't a big deal. Great honest review. Glad I found your channel, even if I had to learn about the postal inspectors' TAC team the hard way! Lol

Yeah with tape or something but I’m meaning for a drill or something pro longed use it’s a bit hard. I tried in a class and it just wasn’t that feasible. I agreed with the shake awake to an extent. On lack of shake awake: I think it will be added in the future along with red dot instead of green dot. From what I understand, Holosun was not able to even fit a red dot because the LED for a red dot is a little too large to fit into the tight space. I would think that the accelerometer required to add shake awake would also take too much space if they can't even fit a red dot instead of a green dot.

Good review, thanks. On guns that are milled for optics and have suppressor sights (M&P 2.0), are the suppressor sights making it hard to pick up a target with the dot due to them being a bit taller?
@americanpatriotdefense89889 ай бұрын
Thanks! So, the suppressor sights will just be a full cowitness or taller s o it clutter up the optic window, which isn’t ideal. Lower 1/3 is the preferred and some people don’t even run BUIS now days. I don’t have personal experience with full suppressor high sights in this optic. However, I do on a RMR and I didn’t like them on that and this optic sits much lower than a RMR.

Question: there’s no replaceable battery on this red dot. Everytime light hits it, it’s charging so why do you need shake awake? Makes no sense. Second question: if you don’t like the window size, why didn’t you just get a red dot with a bigger window?
@americanpatriotdefense89884 ай бұрын
1. Just as a redundancy to the no battery issue. 2. It was a T&E for my agency so I don’t have a choice. After it was done I did 👍🏻 3. I liked the SCS so my I got a carry model for my p365 legion. That I will review. So for things are promising. Guess way still no shake awake. I’ll probably still mention it.. it’s a redundancy thing. Why use power when you don’t need too.
@weaponeer85824 ай бұрын
@@americanpatriotdefense8988 thanks for your reply. As far as using energy when you don’t need to, it has a battery, you just don’t have to replace it on an annual basis.And it has 20k life with constant on, every time you open your safe door or put it on another pair of pants it’s charging. Also, I either read it somewhere or watched Sage Dynamics where it was said that that the life of the battery/capacitor is 10 years before you’d have to replace the sight. If that’s true shake awake would be a waste on this dot. Appreciate you, though.

Considered getting the SCS for my M&P. My biggest concern was to your point about brightness in certain conditions. Ive also heard there are issues about the dot star-bursting. Has that been an issue for you?
@americanpatriotdefense89884 ай бұрын
You may get that in some conditions. Example the only time I ever noticed it was shooting indoor competition or indoor class. Where over head light was really bright and direct. But in normal use, it wasn’t an issue. When wanting to do a fine tune zero or some stuffer were I wanted the dot dimmer in daylight is when the auto adjust Was annoying. I still run a SCS on my P365 if that helps. I like them all around. Especially since they make them in enclosed emitters now!

Yes it is 20k hours but technically, from holosun it says battery life (hours): unlimited;
@americanpatriotdefense898811 ай бұрын
yes, the solar cell charges every time it hits UV. I am afraid to say unlimited because batteries degrade over time and so do soar cells. I would say eventually one would have to send it in. Now, how long will that be, who knows we still haven't seen the battery life end of 20K hours since release. I wont be the one to find out.
@nickibateson146610 ай бұрын
Ya the biggest thing is how much did it cost you to have the screw removed the time it takes to call them blah blah blah so ya they should recall all of them and give better screws.
@americanpatriotdefense898810 ай бұрын
I can see that, I was lucky as it happened while I was at a very nice facility. So the cost and time was very minimal. Cost was free and time was my lunch. But that’s typically not the case. Idk if it’s happening as often now though, so it could be rectified.
@lefmk70859 ай бұрын

But most of my range time is 6AM and had too much blooming when lighting was low. For identifying accurate shots beyond 7 yards was not safe. With A light turned off I could not take my shots. I don't think shake awake is needed with this optic. Only reason shake awake exists is to preserve battery life of a battery that has limited life. Since this red dot charges even under artificial light, there's always a chance of it charging. That rated battery life is for a fully charged scs. You would have to have the optic sitting in darkness for about 3 years for it to go dead.
