I'm someone who had zero experience working on vehicles/engines up until I bought my RE. Using your videos, along with some others, I've managed to install crash bars and a sump guard, change my oil, adjust my tappets, and adjust my chain. I'd say it doesn't take experience to work on, just good instructions and some basic mechanical comprehension. My journey on this started when my dealership said it'd be around $650 to get my valves adjusted. I wasn't about to drive an hour to pay someone that much for something I could learn to do myself, andhavent turned back

Same situation. Bought an RE Himalayan and the dealer was an hour away and wanted 600$ for first time maintenance at 300 miles. I bought what I needed for about 100$ and Never looked back!

I bought a 2023 Classic 350 in Chrome Bronze (the other chrome option) about 13 months ago and the love affair with this motorcycle continues. I an new to motorcycling but am doing some of my own basic maintenance and cleaning and have found it enjoyable and yet another way to connect with this cherished motorcycle.

🎄Merry Christmas🎄 Stuart. I've owned my Meteor for 18 months now, and apart from the first service, I've carried out all other services myself. The bike's just clicked over 15,000Klms and I've had no issues so far. A great little bike that I thoroughly enjoy riding. Looking forward to your spooky Christmas story.👻

Thank you Stuart. Almost 5000km on my Hunter 350, absolutly no issues as well. Very fun urban commuter for a 60 year old gent. The Himalayan 450 is now available for pre-order here in Australia for $8990.00 AUS. Tempting. Which is exactly the same price as the CF Moto 450MT interestingly enough. A light weight adventure bike might be fun. But, I think my heart belongs to Royal Enfield.

I too had a Speedo issue on my Oct 21 mfg Red Chrome Classic 350 at about 5000 km, which was replaced by RE under warranty and the new speedometer started back from Zero. I have done 4000 km now and apart from this absolutely no other problem with the bike so far, it's such a pleasure to ride around the country side.

Morning Stewart. Servicing is something you touched on before I recall. When my first service came up in my RE 650 SM went into a shop I trust. £139 it cost and was in the shop for less than two hours before I got a text saying she's ready. The engin had less tappet noise. I noted the clutch had been adjusted and the throttle response was better. Once my girl was back in the garage I did a quick check for leaks as you do. That's when i noticed the chain had been adjusted and chain wax lub applied. Then the real surprise. A shot of chain wax lub was visible on the side and center stands on the moving parts. The type of service you'd get only at a 5-star Honda dealership, so very pleased with there work. That said my brother-laws mate who bought the 350 RE Hunter had a bit of a shock. His first service £220..! So I guess servicing still depends on a shop location and it's size? Wishing you and your family a very Happy Christmas sir. And all the best in seeing your channel grow in 2024! Safe cruising till next time Stewart 😊👍.

Oh, for the days of old, when a story telling was among the most entertaining events known and often a great means of reinforcing a life lesson. One of limited mental facilities may not understand it, but one was usually free to leave or just ignore it, rather than attempt to find a reason to prohibit its retelling.

There is nothing that compares to a Classic 350. It is literally a class of one. I love my Desert Sand Signals, it’s a wonderful traveling companion. I have the speedo issue as well, and I’m doing my own services. What a wonderful machine for generating the simplest, purest joy of being out and about on a proper gentleman’s motorbike.

Working on bikes is half the fun . Paying £80+ a hour to a corporate dealer Is no much fun. Especially when they are not that good but have access to the software!

I had the speedometer issue as well, but I live in Arizona, U S.A. where nobody cares if your speedometer works or not. Therefore, I simply rode the bike until the parts came in...about three weeks. It took the dealer three days to replace and I was out the door. Wonderful dealer! Like you, I do my own maintenance so I save some money there and in return, I gain a "relationship" with my bike. A wonderful thing!

A motorcycle for motorcyclists; spot on. I have almost 1k miles on my Hunter since late October this year, I've done the service myself, as is my habit, and found the bike to be the equal of, or better than my previous Japanese bikes in fit, finish and equipment. I want a lot of the same things the Indian home market wants; reliability, ease of maintenance, and good value. RE delivers👌

They should have hydraulic valve adjustment and belt drive to eliminate 2 major services.Old Hondas and Triumph had easy to adjust valves with simple to remove valve caps for easy access to the valves without taking the gas tank off. My Sportster just needs the fluids and filters changed.

@frankmarkovcijr5459
@frankmarkovcijr5459 5 ай бұрын
@@CosmicSeeker69 My Sportster was 1 1/2 years old and it cost me $7,000 in 2000. I have had my Sportster for 25 years and 400,000 miles on the original engine and 37 back tires and 17 front ones and 3 belts in 25 years. Today you can get a good used Sportster for $1,600-$3,500 with low mileage. I have shops mounted tires that's it. Used RE 350 are going for bargain prices. Let's see how many engine rebuilds your 350 will go through in 25 years. If you still even have it. Think about how many chains and sprockets replacement costs in 400,000 miles compared to 3 drive belts . No expensive dealer serviceing either. They are counting on people who are too lazy to do valve adjustment themselves and taking it to the dealership for tune ups. They had hydraulic valve adjustment on the 500,less maintenance for the rider.

Wholeheartedly agree, bikes can get under the skin, I feel exactly the same about my little 321cc Yamaha MT03. I bought it initially due to it’s low seat height but then it grew on me due to it’s low weight, brilliant fuel consumption, excellent build quality, slick gearbox, super smooth power delivery, 100% Yamaha reliability, cheap servicing and enough power (42 bhp) to enable overtakes, headwinds and hills to be conquered with ease. Downsides, I don’t suppose the looks are to everyone’s taste, but you don’t see it when you’re sat on it !

Stellar video, Sir! Thank you for fleshing out the errant speedo issue. My valve lash experience on both the INT and Meteor, with over 6500 miles on both, is after the initial 300-mile adjustment no further adjustments have been necessary. I have and will continue to check every 6000 miles. Just a guess but I think allowing the engines to run a couple of minutes unloaded when cold and common-sense riding is responsible. Enjoy your well-deserved break Stuart and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

I have a 350 classic in red, too. Picked one up last spring. This is easily the most reliable bike I've ever owned. I've had a total of 5 REs, this being the 5th. I have this one and a 2008 bullet remaining. The bullet is actually in my profile pic behind me. I have a sentimental attachment to the 08, so I won't sell. But, as far as reliability, these two bikes are worlds apart unsurprisingly. I can't see parting with either. When I first saw the 350 in red, it reminded me of an old BSA with that color scheme. It's such a gorgeous bike. Unlike the 08, I know I can go into the garage, and it'll start right up. Also, it is so comfortable to ride, and the low center of gravity makes it very easy to manage. Happy Christmas and New Year! I'm looking forward to the spooky story on Friday. All the best!

I did my own oil changes but planned to do the oil changes on at least a year to max of 2 year intervals .. That 6 months is absurd, the oil will be good inside the engine for at least two years if you are not done the distance. Happy holidays, uncle Stu

I usually do my own basic maintenance ... the 650 Interceptor is old school valve adjustment.... a bit of a pain to do as opposed to my Xs650's... my 500 Bullet is hydraulic .... Yes !... and my old Ducati's are the only bikes I don't do valve adjustments simply because I don't have the shims...they go to the dealer. The only issue I've had on the Interceptor... in Ravishing Red ! .. was the rear master cylinder.... which was replaced under warranty. I'm lucky in that my dealer allows me to do basic maintenance.... even the master cylinder.. in his work shop area parking lot. He's always busy and the shop still gets filter and oil payment. I'm very pleased both machines. :)

A big thank you and a happy Christmas to you from me uncle Stu, as I’ve said in the past I really enjoy your ‘ghost’ stories 👍🏻 now for owning a royal Enfield, I have owned from new a Himalayan and are now p/ex-ing for a Moto Guzzi why well there are a few things, 1.under powered 2. Quality (built to a price)3. Parts from India (can be a good thing as well)overall I’ve enjoyed the royal Enfield experience but it’s the little things such as poor dealer network, parts from India, poor quality items, paint and fittings don’t seem to last in real life environment also the misting of the clocks also happens on the Himalayan. At the time I made the right choice but it’s time for something new😉 Caio for now, Feliz Navidad 👍🏻

Good morning Stuart, I've had my Classic 350 since the beginning of July, I've done 3,500 miles so far with no issues whatsoever, I've done all my own servicing right from the start with genuine parts and oil from the dealer that I bought it from, so they know I've been using genuine stuff should I ever have a warranty claim ,but they have no issues with me doing my own maintenance anyway. As for enjoyment of the bike I have two other bigger capacity bikes that I enjoy but , neither of which give me the feeling or connection I get from riding my classic, it's just so relaxing to ride and takes your mind to another place, it's so therapeutic it's weird! I've fitted pannier frames, Lomo side bags and a dry bag for my tent and I'm all set for camping weekend's and rallies that I do, as well as just buggering off out for rides in general. Great video review again 👍 Cheers Mel 🍻

Great start to the day as always. Looking forward to this year’s xmas story. The spooky cafe story was worthy of Mr Poe. As someone who has been shocked if not surprised by the woke fascism we have seen on our streets in recent weeks I say sod the woke brigade. Publish and be dammed. :):):)

Excellent video Stuart. You captured perfectly what's so difficult to explain to someone about why many of us like this motorcycle so much. You just can't do it with a spec sheet. In the future I'll just refer my friends to this video.

Love the comment about “consumers”, so true ! I have several bikes, all were bought with home maintenance in mind, not least my Scram. Home maintenance is not only the main reason why I can afford to own several bikes, it’s also a big part of the fun and satisfaction.

A known fault with the speedo and yet the importers don't keep any in stock? Disgraceful.

My other bike is a Kawasaki ZX1400. Ever since I bought the RE classic 350 reborn, I just don't ride it. It's under a blanket of dust now 😅

Hi! I bought a 350 hnt, and ive been wondering about the maintainance thing. Os it possible for you to give some details about it!? Im a woman but ihave no problem doing it myself, but im lacking the knowlegde, can you help? Ive been going so far to the place i bought it, cause of the garantee thing, but at a long period of time it will get more and more expensive. They did the first at 500km, then at 5000 and at 10000 ill go there again. I mentioned to them, the air filter you mention in one of your videos. It was told that it need it a good lubrification otherwise it might ruin the engine. Can you consider doing a video about basic maintaince? Well thank you for the attention 🙏 By the way, im in portugal and my name is Anabela. Greetings and Joyfull Hollidays ✨🌲

I can't seem to find a pudding bowl helmet and silk scarf. I try to keep an eye out for the 500 classic, they show up every few years. I am torn, to sell the sportster, which also offers a similar feeling, and get the copper green with copper highlights.

How many miles do you get after the last gas bar starts blinking and gas light comes on? Happened to me yesterday and mileage began counting up, I made it to gas station at 50 mi. still counting up.

Why is that truck stopped on zigzag lines at 5:44? I would have stopped, and told the driver that his L plates have fallen off, and where is his driving instructor? If I was a cop he would have got a ticket.

I had a Himalayan, and it had a recall on the brake calipers, this took nearly 1 year before they changed both calipers. All other warranty issues on the Himalayan were granted and done pretty quick. ABS sensor, head bearings, speedometer. My classic 500 touch wood has no issues after 4 years. Let's hope my classic 350 is the same. Hope you have a great Christmas and New Year and thanks again for all your great videos.
