Thank you! I never thought that this watch would hold up to my daily use and wear. I am pleasantly surprised:) Thank you for the info regarding the miyota vs nh35. I'm primarily a user of watches and I haven't spent too much time into researching the different movements. I am trying to invest more time into that aspect currently. This 8926 has been fairly accurate so far and I don't really have much to complain about with the exception of the "INVICTA" inscribed into the side of the case. The sole purpose of this watch was a daily worn beater and it has surpassed my expectations.

The 8926 is a good watch. You have an earlier model with a Myota movement. The newer versions have a Seiko NH35A movement which is hackable and hand winding, the rotor is yellow on the newer ones. Accuracy is very good with mine running at 4 seconds per day which is very good for a watch at this price. I own two Invicta Pro Divers which I also rotate in my collection of watches.

My first 8926OB was purchased in 2008 when I graduated from college. It came with the non-hacking Miyota movement. I purchased a two tone version in 2010. In 2016, I purchased the NH35A version of the 8926OB. Every other year or so, I open up and lubricate the case and crown gaskets with silicone to ensure the watches remain watertight for swimming. No need for service whatsoever. Today, despite owning some watches one hundred times the price of this watch, I still proudly wear my Invicta pro divers to go out.

I got an 8926 in 2011 as well, my crystal got a deep scratch in it the first week, and when I would drive home from work the AC would blow right on the crystal and after a few dips in the pool and shower this would cause the crystal to fog up which meant that it was no longer waterproof. After a few months a hard knock on a wall caused the bezel to stop rotating. I tried to pop it off and put it back on but I ended up doing even more damage :( I eventually put it in a drawer and bought an SKX009 which I still wear to this day, it has taken close to a decade of abuse like a champ...
@darkchild574 жыл бұрын
Very nice! I have not had the pleasure of owning an SKX yet, maybe one day. Being a Seiko I imagine they just keep going and going. I'm sorry to hear of the fate of your 8926. looks like the earlier 8926 has better lume than the newer ones. The latest ones usually has poor lume on the indices. You need to really charge them with a flashlight to get the indices to light up.
@JamesDavidWalley4 жыл бұрын
The new edition features a Seiko NH-35 movement instead of the old version's Miyota. The Seiko is better in that it's hackable. Unfortunately, the later model uses lume on the markers (but not the hands) that is distinctly yellow-green in daylight, making the whole thing look cheap.

I think I need some help. So I was planning on buying this watch (maybe the blue, the gold blue or the regular black one I haven't made up my mind yet) and I saw that there are two versions of the black one (8926 and 8926OB) and 3 different versions of the blue gold one (8928, 8928OB and one with a 17042 code number) what's the difference though? I am not concerned about the price since they're pretty close I just wanted to know why there are 2 and 3 different models.

BuddyPs4King I prefer the black dial but that's just me, if you like the blue and gold you should go for that...I do know that the 8926 has the beveled bezel and the 8926OB is the original bezel edge like the one in this video..there is also an 8926C which is a coin bezel...look at pics of these deffirent codes and you will notice the differences in the edging of the bezels..I'm not sure about the 17042 coded one...hope this helps...and definitely go for the watch it's a great deal with awesome build quality you wont regret the purchase
@darkchild575 жыл бұрын
I believe the difference between the 8926 and 8926ob is the bezel, coin edge or scallop. The other difference is that one (8928) utilizes an NH35 movement while the other utilizes a Miyota. Not too sure what the 17042, I think it's larger maybe?
@a_z.tazzzfan84974 жыл бұрын
@@darkchild57 The "ob" refers to the "Original Bezel" Invicta used for the Pro Diver back in the 90's. It is coin edge similar to the Rolex Submariner. The model #'s without the "ob" have the scallop or clamshell bezel similar to Omega. The early Pro Divers had non-hacking Miyota movements like yours. Later models came with the Seiko NH movements identical to your Grand Diver because the movement is hacking and more accurate/reliable than the older Miyota movements. Over the last decade I've owned 20+ Pro and Grand Divers. Never had issues with any of them. In a way I'm glad Invicta puts their name on the side of the case. Would rather have just their styled "I" with the logo, but... I was at a swap meet a few years ago and saw a Submariner black dial that looked odd. I picked it up and looked real close. As for lifespan....I'm not too sure, but it has a Seiko movement in it and going by experience with Seiko 5's this will probably last a long long while. My dad's Seiko 5 is still running after 40 years and it has not been serviced. His was truly his daily watch, he only owned two watches, the 5 was his beater. @@darkchild57 40 years is very long, 40 years without serviced? Does it damage the automatic watch if you rarely need it? I want to buy 2.
@darkchild574 жыл бұрын
@@Leomroy It is a long time indeed. I know plenty of people suggested that I have that watch serviced. I think over time the lubrication may dry up which could lead to possible damage of the movement. However if you do wear them every so often it keeps the parts lubricated but then you have wear as the parts move against each other. With that being said, I'm quite surprised after this many years my dad's watch still works and still keeps fairly accurate time. Either way you'll want to balance the time out between your watches and of course definitely get them serviced if you want them to run well and accurately. The 8926 is not an expensive watch so I don't really pay too much attention to the servicing, if it was more of a luxury model it would be well worth your time to keep them in good condition.

I probably won't be buying another one of these. I am rethinking replacing the crystal. Every scratch, ding, foggy crystal...etc is part of the history of this timepiece, that's why I have not had my dad's Seiko 5 buffed and polished. Nice vid 👌. You're obviously not very old 👶 if your first was a digital Timex. My Dad gave me my very first watch - a mechanical Timex ⏳ with a dial about the size of a dime. I still have it but it no longer works. 🥺 Love the Pro Divers but, prefer the size of the Grand Divers. I've either sold or given most of my Pro's to family. My wrist is 62mm across so I can wear the larger ones. Sometime after you bought your Pro Diver, Invicta switched to the Seiko NH movement which is the equivalent of the 4R movements used in a lot of the Seiko Divers like the Samurai. This change gives the Pro Diver a: Hacking movement. 41-hr power reserve. A bi-directional rotor (which is more user friendly when using a watch winder) that is quieter than the Miyota. For an additional $150-$200, you can get the Pro Diver with the Swiss made Sellita SW200 movement, solid end links bracelet with a milled clasp and Invicta's Flame Fusion Crystal. Love the Samurai too. It's currently my favorite of the Seiko Divers.
