I really like watching your Symbaroum prepping videos etc (whenever I get the time to do so). As a relatively new DM I learn so much and there's always things/tips/tricks to learn to make your games better. 03:20 All the things you mentioned sound interesting to me but I'm looking forward to some more Symbaroum content of course.

I will of course do more Symbaroum content, since we are running Throne of Thorns. But I must say it'll probably more in the form of live streams. We'll see. Gamewise, I will eventually talk about other games, and more importantly, talk about adventure design, since I want to more of that. Starting with Mysteries of the East Marshes part II.

Very interesting indeed, i'm intrigued on hearing about the encounter with the darkness and how you dealt with the problem of just having one big bad enemy. My group just started playing Symbaroum with me as the DM (First time DM) and you're videos has helped me a lot when it comes to prepping sessions. Thank you and i look forward to your new videos ^^

Glad to have you back, sir! Looking forward to your material. My group is 15 sessions in. We have completed Promised Land, Mark of the Beast, and had a guest GM do a small three-session adventure. Now we're getting ready for Green as Copper. I'm sticking to the published material as much as possible, but I do find myself spending quite a bit of time developing the hook for the players. For instance, Green as Copper is opening with a novice of the Ordo Magica who has been studying Menandra and the role of morphantics and the practice of exaltation in the Symbarian empire approaching a PC with a theory about her estate, and how secrets of the estate have yet to be discovered. The same novice is then murdered, after having convinced the wrong group of Davokar explorers of the merit of his theory. And so the party is engaged by a more senior member of Thistle Hold's Ordo Magica (who is seeking support in his campaign to be appointed to Vernam's old seat among the Masters) to track down the murderers, bring them to justice, and test the theory of the murdered novice. Also throwing in some Odav and Karit conflict along the route to Menandra's estate, and hope to make mention of Eox as well. Needless to say, coming up with hooks for the PCs often seems to come close to coming up with an adventure itself. I enjoy the work, of course, but I was wondering if you might be able to speak about what sorts of connections you like to emphasize when developing your narratives; if you have something strategic, or you just pick something that inspires you and you are able to remember. Welcome back!

Thank you! That's a good topic right there. I could definitely say a few words about that in a future video. The brief version is that I'll put things in front of the players and then try to make the npcs and plot threads that seem to interest them become the main part of the campaign. So I talk to my players between sessions quite a lot, to get a better feel for what they really liked.

Welcome back. I do hope everything is ok with you and your people. I love your additions to the modules and hope to see your notes and additions in the future. I’m about 16 sessions in (Sleepless Path, Best Kept Unspoken, Blooming Vale, Mark of the Beast). I used a bunch of your content to prep the group for copper crown and WotW. Thank you

Welcome back. I enjoy your videos. You should of course make whichever videos you enjoy and can fit in your schedule. Personally, I enjoy your prep videos. I also love lore videos, but I am aware they likely require more prep and research (and thus more time) before you shoot them. Definitely something I would watch though.

What a surprise ! Happy to watch your videos again ! About the content I'd like to see, well, everything you provide us, I'll watch it. But I'm interested more particulary in videos about your group, the adventure itself, etc... I guess you are now running the witch hammer, if I'm not mistaken. That means a lot of adventures since the last recap. I understand, as you said, it would be tedious to recap in videos, but if you write a recap' somewhere, as I do, I'd be happy to read it (preferably in french) Best wishes for 2024. Hope to see. alot of content on youtube :)

Wonderful news. I was looking at the parc, and as a former Montrealer, I recognized immediately where but was taken aback with the lack of snow 😅. 18 months ago I made the switch over to YZE and TOR, and over Christmas ‘23 finally purchased Symbaroum (not 5e) books (#Imaginaire). I watched all your previous videos and so perhaps more encouragement for relatively new Symbaroum GMs and content that has been released lately. Perhaps an essential order of importance for purchasing adventures? There is so much out there it can be overwhelming. So glad I will see you regularly Leo.

Well the video was shot in October... :) But we did wait for snow until January! Which was quite dommage. For the order of the adventures, there is a document somewhere on the web that Free League produced with a interesting order for their adventures and ToT. But I'd send you to the Davokar Explorers League Discord channel. Its full of people like me and you can get really good answers to any question you have there.

Welcome back! You asked about what kind of content we’d be interested in. Maybe you’ve already done this, but I’d be interested in hearing your take on how running the Adventure Pack modules went. What did you like? What did you change? Were there any pain points GMs should be aware of? Always appreciate that kind of advice from someone that’s run an adventure previously. This might be a bit out there, but at the moment, I’m exploring how to think about creating narrative arcs for player characters. There’s plenty of advice out there for how to craft character arcs for protagonists in, say, a novel. But roleplaying games are improvisational by nature, so what would an attempt to create character development look like? If you’ve had thoughts about this, I’d be interested to hear them.

Hey Leo, nice to hear from you again, I had almost given up hope that it would continue here 😉 But what kind of Symbaroum supporter would I be if I lost hope, when that's often the only thing people cling to. You didn't even start to say that English isn't your first language and that I should watch the video faster 🤪 Joking aside. I'm glad you're back. And it doesn't matter whether you show short or longer videos, because your output is inspiring. Personally, I've always enjoyed watching your game reports because I can draw ideas from them on how to design the campaign and perhaps link elements together. I would primarily be happy to hear ideas from you on how to link the campaign together well. For example, I'm currently preparing for the big sinkhole, but I've already sown hints that the group should move on to Karvosti later. I'm currently reading the Hexenhammer more intensively and don't yet have a good idea of how to send them to Yndaros and whether I need to do that at all or whether I should just continue directly with The Dark Star after Karvosti (I haven't read that yet). Maybe in your next video you can give some ideas on how to set up the campaign differently and what triggers you can set to get a group to do it.

Ok, many people have said that they like the session recaps with a spotlight, so I might keep doing them. I'm considering LIVE STREAMING most of my videos now, because it's less work overall and I could chat with some of you, if I'm lucky. :) Would you like that format?
