Thanks for this vid and the comments section, it is great to see all the pros and cons that come up! The correct answer as to which looks better DCSB or DCLB: Neither! The Xtra Cab looks best by far. And, you get the benefit of the long bed space with the short wheelbase! It’s a truck FFS, not a passenger car. Glad that is settled, I’m going shopping now!

I drove short bed Tacoma's for years till I moved to a Tundra. Now full circle, kid's are grown up. I moved back to a Tacoma. Now, I don't off road much in my truck other than pulling my camper and hauling my quad. I test drove the limited, off road, and ended up buying a sport LB. Hands down the best ride, reminds me of my Tundra. Just my opinion. Enjoyed the vid!

I think it's funny that there's so many videos about the difference between the long bed and the short bed. The clearance thing makes sense if you're going to do that level of extreme off-roading. We have a 40 ft long RV. I can drive it pretty much anywhere. I can do a u-turn in it. I can also do a three-point turn if I'm not towing something. Obviously I don't take it off road. But a responsible driver knows where he or she can take a vehicle. And I'll bet if somebody did the math, that extra 12 in or so in a wheelbase doesn't affect the turning radius all that much. Imagine driving a Ford F-350 or bigger. Or a full size GMC Denali pickup truck. This is almost as funny as the complaint that people have that the new Nissan Titan has tight truck like steering. Another funny thing is that in today's world you have to REMIND people not to buy a car that's longer than their garage. Just be a man. Own a tape measure and learn how to use it. Buy the truck you want. Drive it appropriately. Geez.
@lacnibor4 жыл бұрын
You kinda touched on my reason for buying a long bed. But specifically I want to be able to eventually put a cap on my truck bed and be able to fit my body height (5’10”) without sleeping diagonal or curling up my legs. I won’t be doing that kind of off-roading that would cause me to bottom out. I totally agree with your logic though. I had never thought about it until I started watching these KZbin videos with folks doing some really technical stuff. Great explanation in simple terms, thanks.

The long bed is notably more difficult to park and parallel park. It's also notably less capable off-road if hardcore off-roading is your thing. Totally worth it to me because I schlep a lot of stuff in the back. 26" bikes will fit in the back with the lift gate closed.

Living in B.C. we have tons of logging roads never do rock climbing. If you do rock climbing get the short bed but for every other off roading you wont see any different. Yes 6 feet bed is way better to packing then a 5 as I had a ford with a 5 feet bed. I can go to the top of the mountain and lay on the bed and glass everything for hours with my son. Love it. @@honestmike3255 I live in Nashville. I had to drive to Ft Walton Florida to buy my long bed. It was 0% interest and the salesmen were professional and honest... however my daughter tried to buy a CH-R in Cookville TN and they wouldn't honor the Toyota offer of 2.9%. They said her credit wasn't established enough . They said 4.9 % then I said I would co-sign they said well it would probably be the same. Lol.. We both had scores in the high 700's. We walked 2 times then they said 3.5 % . I said ok ( even though they are lying about the 2.9% that was actually being offered and trying to put the extra % in their pocket) then as I was about to sign the final paper and I noticed they didn't itemize the sales tax( ( which they weren't taxing on the price I bought it for ....they were taxing the higher over marked sticker price plus the dealership fees and gap )) or the Gap insurance. They never asked if I wanted the gap insurance. They never explained it to my daughter. I said I didn't want it. The sales manager got mad and got up and walked off. Lol... He was such a baby. I thought about sending him a basket with some baby diapers and some tissue in it so his little bitch ass could use them the next time he cries because his piggish money grabbing scams don't materialize. So make sure you get your interest locked in because these smaller lots are trying to rip people off. I have found here South Eastern Toyota dealerships are much better than the ones based out of Cincinnati ( they seem to offer lower interest rates) Most of the ones in TN are based out of the Cincinatti wing of dealerships. They are actually in competition with one another and don't like eachother. I love my Tacoma. I know you will like yours. I had to wait a month to get mine also.
