It's worth mentioning that Pavonis has never worked on LWOTC, it's a project made purely by a couple of randoms And technically, the newest version of the mod is not beta 4, but dev build 28.2

2:35 You consider the Shinobi to be an offshoot of the Sharpshooter class? I figured the Shinobi was an offshoot of the base-game Ranger class, inheriting the stealth and sword aspects of the class, while the Assault got the shotgun aspect.

Yes, I would consider them (but more by a process of elimination). Now, you could make an argument that the ranger and the sniper are subclasses of the vanilla sniper (with the ranger class effectively mimicing the quickshot sniper build of Xcom1). With that, the shinoby and assault would be vanilla assault's subclasses. You raise a valid question, the class split does not match up completely.

@@SykenPlays I would describe it this way: Grenadier -> Grenadier, Gunner Ranger -> Shinobi, Assault Specialist -> Specialist, Ranger Sharpshooter -> Sharpshooter (nothing) -> Technical Although I think you could argue that the rifle-wielding aspect of the base X2 Specialist wasn't emphasized enough to make the LW2 Ranger really an offshoot of it, which would make it (nothing) -> Ranger, Technical.

The biggest issue I have is knowing WHEN to do stuff. Like, when should I contact a region? When should I liberate one? When’s should I research/build X?

That is a great question and not easy to answer. If you look through my L/I Long war playthrough, I am always trying to explain why I am doing X or Y and what the highest priority is. There is no standard Formular, it is basically always the question: what‘s the near term target, what is the largest problem and what is the mid-term goal. And those aspects determine the course of action.

i have only recently discovered this game and i am staggered, the addiction is real, finished xcom2 on vet as new player, now im on wotc commander, just feel camp is going quick and id love to keep it going, i love the sound of lwotc but scared its gonna break the game as ive quite a few mods installed for customisations.

I have not yet made up my mind, will produce a channel update soon to go over certain options for the next campaign and then basically offer a vote, so that the viewers can decide what they want to see.

When lwotc gets installed replaces the non modded game or you can play both games at will?

If you have an alternative mod launcher, you can store mod configs (i.e. which mods to load). Basically just have two set-ups and then you can play both. However LWOTC requires some time for the installation. It is not overly complex, but requires some fiddling.

I only had one Lost mission this entire time. It seems the long War mod removes the whole story of meeting the skirmishers and the reaper is. I started out with a permission in my crew mission 1 and I never get any lost missions. The only time I saw the Lost which I also put a mod enforce they look like the flood from Halo, was when one of my infiltration missions got ambushed. After that I never saw a mission again either do I see missions to reduce the Avatar projects. Is that a bug with long war or is that other mods I'm using interfering?

I’m not expecting a reply to this but. For some reason I can’t recruit more soldiers even though it says they’re available at the locations. I travel there and when I look in the recruit pool nothing is there.

Hi Crowe, you might want to check in the Longwar forum to see if that is a known bug. It always worked for me, so I have no immediate idea.

Hi man i know this a late comment but i read that Long war 2 didnt work with WOTC dlc? and i cant see this on nexus mods is it just the standard LOng war 2 mod? nevermind found it :) awesome i read thy had asked 2k if they could do it and they said no. glad to see i was wrong

The normal v1.0 mod allows further upgrades in a sense that the infiltration time for larger teams is reduced. 8 is the maximum on normal missions, 10 on facility missions and other special missions

Hi Asuras, Long War limits the income from supplies drastically, specifically in the early game, they will be by far the most contested resource. You will need to take your income from the black market and eventually after you liberate the first region and put everyone on supplies, the situation changes quite a bit.

Listening to the mod description makes me dislike it without even trying, sounds terrible to be honest. Though, I am fairly new to the game so that would explain much of my angst. To me it sounds like a mod for someone who's played the game too much and seeks a form of torture to spice things up lol. Does anyone know of a mod that provides more content without artificially making the game longer by making things tedious?

@b151 Try these mods instead of Long War... Covert Infiltration LWOTC Alien Pack A Better Advent Then play on the default difficulty to get a feel for the gameplay changes.

@@b151proof I think you'll find that combo to offer plenty of replayability with an addictive gameplay loop. You can leave out the 'A Better Advent' (ABA) and just go with the 'A Better AI' since the combo of ABA and LWOTC Aliens may be a bit too much on a first modded playthrough. Also make sure you're using the 'Alternative Mod Launcher', it'll show up on a Google search. My current playthrough has 200 mods and offers a nice challenge without being too frustrating. I bought XCOM 2 at launch and have way too many hours in this game lol. The mods really extend the replayability 100%. 🙂
