Thank you for sharing video. I do quilts of valor. I wish you had walked through steps of long arm. I learnd that long armers hate square quilts. I was looking for someone to explain why computerized machines are hard to quilt square quilts.
@sisterchicksquilting Жыл бұрын
I can quilt anything on my Gammill and personally love quilting square quilts. I’ve never heard of any Longarmers who don’t like quilting square quilts. It’s not hard for me or my computerized Longarm friends to quilt square quilts. I love quilting quilts of valor also, isn’t it the greatest program? Thanks for watching my channel😊❤️🐥

That was my VERY FIRST QUESTION about HOW LONG did it take to quilt this. I wished quilters would INCLUDE the length of time approx that it took to quilt their quilts. So us NEW prospective Long Arm buyers can have an idea. Wow, this is a large quilt, most of mine will be a bit smaller, laps and throws, twins and baby quilts. Thanks so much for sharing. Ken Orlando, Florida, USA @sisterchicksquilting I found in another comment the answer to how long it took to quilt. Thanks so much!!!

Thank you for asking Ken and also for watching my channel :) Good luck with shopping for a longarm, I believe the most important thing to look for is good customer service. It's a machine and will break down and need maintenance and repair on occasion.

I love the quilt and the quilting is beautiful also. I am new at this game, I wanted more of a walk-through, an explanation of why you chose to quilt the way you do. I need all the advice I can get. I manually quilt my Client quilts.

How do you buy your wool batting? Mine came rolled up in a bag and I can’t get the wrinkles outs even using everyone’s tips. Your is so smooth and flat!
@sisterchicksquilting2 ай бұрын
I buy it on 30 yard rolls, it's Hobbs Washable Wool. I've hd some serious creases in folded batting and...are you ready....it really works.... I steam it out with my Laurastar iron, it relaxes the batting very well and the creases dissapear. Now if you dont' have a laurastar try a steamer, preferably one that has pressure in it. You will have to let the batting fdry but it will. My Laurastar has a dry steam so it doesn't leave a wet spot. I hpe this helps., thanks for watching!

What a wonderful use of a garage! Longarm isn't in my budget nor do I have space for one right now. So I'll have to settle for rental at my local shop. Beautiful quilt and quilting. Green is my favorite color. I've decided your in a cooler climate than my south Mississippi. If I used the cuddle fabric I don't think I could use batting too. Is that possible? Thanks for sharing with us.
@sisterchicksquilting2 жыл бұрын
I rented for 3 years before I bought mine. I’ve heard of quilters not putting batting between Cuddle and a quilt, but have never done it. There is nothing like the feel of Cuddle on a quilt. BTW, there’s trade offs for giving up the garage parking, I scrape snow and ice ❄️🌬💨🌧🥴

Found you today! Thank you for sharing your process and your home studio. The quilt is gorgeous and the Shannon on the back is a game changer. Any sage advice on the conversion of the garage? Am looking lovingly at mine now to do the same thing.

Awesome and I’m glad you found bed me. One right thing by I did was to hear and air condition the space. I have a few friends who I quilt in steel or wooden buildings in their property C CD they always fight with the extreme temperatures. t was worth every penny. One thing I’m kicking myself for not doing when I converted my garage, was not putting an epoxy floor in, thinking I would do it later. Nope, later will probably not come😵💫. Thanks for watching 😍❣️

Thank you for the video ! I wonder how the thread is catched or looped (however is called) underneath? On sewing machine you have the bobbin with the thread for the back side. How this long arm machine works that part ?
@sisterchicksquilting Жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking Gigi. The longarm has a bobbin under the quilt and it loops/hooks like a regular sewing machine. It sure is a fun machine to operate, thanks for watching my channel😊‼️

Where can I purchase a pattern to make the modern Irish chain quilt? It’s fun watching your machine quilt.
@sisterchicksquilting2 жыл бұрын
You can get this book on Amazon Irish Chain Quilts Contemporary Twists on a Classic Design By, Melissa Cory The one I made was called , Breaking Up, page 8. Now I added 8 more blocks so my finished size was 72 X 89.5 Have fun with it.

Fun to watch. How long did it take to quilt it in real-time?
@sisterchicksquilting3 жыл бұрын
About 3.5 to 4 hours which includes loading, taking off then trimming the extra backing and batting off. I didn’t film all 8 rows because even at fast speed that would get boring.

I am looking for a video that shows me how to start stitching and how to end stitching in the quilt and then starting somewhere else in the quilt. How do you make sure the stitches will not come out later?
@sisterchicksquilting2 жыл бұрын
I assume you’re talking about custom longarm quilting? Here’s what I do. First I plan out my designs to link in as many places as I can to minimize the stops and starts. When I have to start and stop I have my machine set to do 7 lock stitches then leave a thread tail, tie a squares knot with the top and bottom threads then bury them with a needle.

Minky and cuddle, fleece, are also highly flammable; I won’t use them on any quilt. Imagine if a house catches on fire, that plastic will stick to the skin and when peeled off take the skin with it; ask me how I know!
