A small disagreement i have, you keep pointing out the massive pommel on the Greatswords saying its too big and distracting, and i cant agree with it. The reason the pommel has to be big is cause its a big sword, and swords need a counter weight or else it will be off balance and you cant wield it nearly as effectively, but i agree with most your placements

@@minstrel9806 not exactly, you can grip a sharp sword no problem with a good grip, that becomes even easier with say gloves on. Some would be made to not be sharp at the end for the sake of half swording or wasn't very sharp to begin with. I'm no expert but I do know for a fact having a better hold on the weapon with your hands farther apart would help far better, specially for trying to pierce armor. The design for Skyrim was thoughtful but overall I still wouldnt even use it and go for the blade instead. I find it strange how games these days have basic weapons inspired by the real world but then they have full on fantasy weapons that you can't help but laugh at. Dunno man, I mean, not to sound like a keyboard warrior, but think about how heavy that sword would be as a one handed weapon. That big "cross guard" would probably weigh at least 5 pounds, the average one handed sword weighing about that or less. Now, I know that it's probably some fancy metal that that has no weight, but personally, I wouldn't use it. Also, because the guard is round, your opponent's blade might slip down and cut your hand. However, it does look pretty cool aesthetics wise.

The Steel Greatsword has that leather band because it's covering the portion of many swords known as the "ricasso." It's the part of the blade closest to the hilt and usually in front of the guard, often unsharpened and covered with metal or leather so the wielder can grasp the blade with his other hand at that point to increase the power of a thrust or cut. And it's not sharpened because unless you're wearing metal gauntlets...well, you would cut your hand. And it's also a straight rip off of the sword Schwarzenegger used in the Conan movies.

To look Flashy. And can actually be used as a WEAPON itself dealing Blunt Force Trauma or Blunt Damage. So Before you decide you don't like a Huge Ball or a Pointy Bottom Part on a Sword or Great Sword, try thinking about how they Functioned and how they were Used as an Extension of the Lethality of the Weapon, making it slightly more Multipurpose in Combat. I got so pissed with random encounters becoming boss battles that I did the fortify alchemy loop and made an iron dagger called Longinus that did something like a million damage. Kinda took the fun out of that playthrough but it was initially pretty funny oneshotting anything with that little butter knife
@christinaedwards5084 Жыл бұрын
Personally, I’d of just linked stealth with alchemy. Alchemy can do everything. Even boost dagger damage if you use fortify archery potions. (Ah, gotta love bad coding) Poisons ignore armour, weakness to poison on a bow, followed by two hits of lingering damage health daggers. Everything dies! Or paralysis lasting a few minutes. And just go ham levelling that one-handed skill. As an assassin character you can completely ignore the left side of the sneak tree. Wearing clothing (I like hooded monk robes) or the un-armoured dark brotherhood robes or ciceros clothes will make you A) completely silent as no armour penalty B) move lightning fast. Keep daggers sheathed and un-sheath them when you want to rush an enemy. (Doesn’t work with spells in hand)

Best: leveling enchanting, destruction and smithing to 100. Then, head over to the place with stalhrim and do the quest where you get Ahzidal’s armor cause it ups enchanting. Then, go to Miraks temple and go through it until you get a stalhrim sword with the chaos enchantment, and disenchant it. Then do the quest where you unlock creating stalhrim gear. You also need to find and enchanter’s elixir and blacksmith elixir. Then, you make a stalhrim weapon of your choice after taking the blacksmith elixir. Then upgrade it fully. Next, wear ahzidals armor and drink the enchanter’s elixir and enchant it with chaos enchantment and frost damage. Boom. Explanation: Ahzidals armor ups power when enchanting. You need to up enchanting to make it more powerful and get the perk that lets you put two enchantments on gear. You need to up destruction to get the perks that up frost, Fire and lightning on enchantments and make them more powerful. You need to up smithing to get the ebony smithing perk that lets you create stalhrim weapons and get it to 100 to make smithing more powerful. Upgrading alone takes 3 hrs for smithing, which I did by duping materials and making like 2000 daggers. It takes 1 hour for upping enchanting which I did by duping soul gems and enchanting the daggers. Destruction was a horribly painful process, where I used lightning on my horse and waiting when it got on low health, for 5 to six hours. Why you need a stalhrim weapon: First of all, the chaos damage enchantment gives a 50% chance for fire, frost and lightning to INDIVIDUALLY do about 200 damage, if you did everything above. If you’re lucky, you’all do 600 damage and if you have average luck do 200-400 damage from the enchantment alone. This combined with the base damage and the frost enchantment is INSANELY freaking powerful, but it gets better. See, stalhrim weapons increase any frost enchantment placed on them, meaning the frost damage enchantment will be increased. BUT, the sword, because it’s upping the frost damage, ups the chaos damage as well. It is astounding. This took me about a real life month, to level up and complete all the quests needed, but keep in mind I wasn’t just doing Skyrim the whole time. Do this and immediately become a god. I learned this from a KZbin video, but thought I’d share it here as well along with how long it took. Thanks for reading :) Edit: you could probably get the weapon faster than it took me to type this Edit 2: I’m terrible at spelling made up places and people, my bad Final edit: once you get this done, you can repeat it basically indefinitely. I created a basic sword, the Quodiinyol blade, the Ninronaaz bow, and the sulveyzeem dagger because of what their names mean in the dragon tongue.

If you're gonna make an effort you might as well go all out and use alchemy, smithing enchantments, and the black book buff too.

The ring on the dragon bone swords is called a pommel and is used to help balance the sword in your hand.
@wrenkall39663 жыл бұрын
@FilthySewerRat I mean those types of ring pommels weren’t entirely uncommon

@FilthySewerRat it does look good though, its entirely subjective

The orcish greatsword should be at the bottom, it looks like it would shatter as soon as it hit anything harder than oak wood

i loved the nightingale blade when i first saw it but over time it just look like a plastic toy of a real blade that was enlarged

The only redeeming aspect of the wooden sword is the fact that you can see chips in it from use.

Gotta agree with you for a lot of these. The thing I dislike the most with Skyrim's weapons is how thicc the weapons are. They're super unrealistic and just remind me of carrying around a large chunk of metal and hitting things with it like a barbarian. I mean... it's fun, but still. Great video.

I think the wooden sword is actually a dagger. Aside from the wooden sword the only weapons you can give your adopted children are daggers

my main problem with skyrim is that almost all unique weapons and armors are outclassed by anything you can make yourself.
@justinfarmer74603 жыл бұрын
I just like the unique effect the Bloodskal Blade has. Not all that effective, but it's pretty cool to do a power attack and hit someone with a wave of energy from a pretty good distance.

I use the Glass Great Sword, The stats are high and the Look is great. I may or may not find a better sword but it's this one for me, for a single hand quick swing sword I like Dawnbreaker, it's very fast and slices quick or for me it does.

a bit of an explanation of the Ancient Nord swords, and why they are so dark, they have been lying in a tomb, filled with damp and mold for 1000s of years, and that causes problems for a metal object, the Nordic Hero swords, are basically you restoring the sword the way it was when it forged in ancient times, or at least close enough, I think the handle probably had a leather finish like the basic Steel Sword has, only one tomb has these blades in mint condition, Volunruud.. the rest have decayed along with their owners for 1000s of years till you, took them to the Skyforge and reforged them
