I agree... you have really hit your stride here.. the best thought process game I have see on KZbin to date.. bar none. You've outdone yourself and oddly enough I am all the more excited to play the Classical Dutch as black!

Another great video, Simon. The clarity of explanation combined with the occasional hilarious comment and affable style makes you my favourite chess KZbin guru (John Bartholomew is a close second :))! I feel like I'm having a chess lesson down the pub with a mate. Still can't fathom why you don't have more views. Just bought your DVDs on iChess, hoping to add the Dutch to my repetoire. A lot of material to work through! All the best.

The Dutch DVD is awesome! It's been two years now since I purchased it. It's too much fun to play.

Great video buddy. You make chess seem so easy by logically explaining every move, in stead of bragging about how much theory you know. Have a great day!😊👍👍👍

You can definitely have letters in your emotes, Simon! I watch some AOE2 Twitch streamers, and they have things like speech bubbles and background text paired with an image for some of theirs. I imagine the problem was that the letter was the main subject of the emote, not that it had a letter in it at all? So, if that's the case, how about a caricature pawn posing with a "H" symbol on it's "chest", kind of like Superman?

What I have realized trying to play Dutch after watching Simon's videos is that you make one inaccuracy and you are toasted, or (best case) struggling until the end of the game. Very risky opening.

Hi Simon, I've been fixated on a period of your commentary here - at 11:54 you are thinking about your next plan and you immediately arrive at the plan "where do I put my King?" I would love to know why you think this the next plan. How do you know that the king position is the most important at this time? Is there rhyme or reason or is it just a hunch?

I think it's because he wants to get everything developed and then attack when white's king is in the centre.

Your cockney accent sounds quite similar to your regular accent 🤔

I didn't understand the Collie and Torry ( or what he was saying.) Are those actual variant names on the opening he was playing, or something he made up?

8:06 Simon says if he was black he would play d5 here, but doesn't that allow white's f3 knight to come into an awesome outpost at e5?
